I think this school is a 4 star but it still needs improvement in Math and Science as well as Reading. I also think that the minority rate as well as the lower economic level of many students makes this school a challenge to teach.
I love d.M.M.S and the teachers there are very helpful
my son loved the school and was on honor roll every month they work with each child and help them anyway they need

For the past two years I have been pleased with my son's experience at Dan McCarty School. There are areas which could use some attention. Discipline issues at the school could be better handled. it seems that the overall attitude amongst teachers is to punish the masses rather than the few that cause the problems. I know that it is not alwsys cut and dry but it really shouldn't take half of the school year to figure it out. Praising those that are well behaved and offering incentives for good behavior might yield better results. Let the kids 'Get caught being good' and see what that does for student moral. Perhaps increased staff or even volunteers would be a benefit in the classrooms.
Last year was terrible and we encountered so many issues throughout the year and we almost did not allow our daughter to return. However, a new principal was assigned and we would give it a try. This year has been OUTSTANDING and students are happier and safer. Hats off to the new principal and teachers who seem to care not only about education, but also about the safety of our children. Not to mention the positive reinforcement and opportunties that are given to each child.
