St. Andrew's is a wonderful school. Both of my children have been successful at St. Andrew's. We have been a part of St. Andrew's for over 9 years and have seen many wonderful changes and improvements. My children are very different from each other, but both have found the environment engaging and love to go to school. I would highly recommend St. Andrew's.
St. Andrew's is an amazing school! My two children have attended this school for many years and it has been a very positive experience for both of them. The teachers are very kind and extremely dedicated. This school has it all...a Christian environment, a beautiful location, hands-on learning, technology (MacBooks & iPads), and a fantastic Strings program. I was a little concerned when they started there because this school did not have a high school and I wondered where I would put them when that time comes. I was thrilled to learn this year that they are adding a high school next year! The only problem that I have with the school is that my children NEVER want to leave because they absolutely love everything about it!
This school has changed quite drastically over the past year. My son has been attending for three years and we chosen not to continue for the upcoming year. There has been so much change in the staff (and strife among staff) and although the "new direction" seemed promising initially, I have found the quality of the education has diminished while the tuition, fees, aftercare, etc... are increasing drastically. The curriculum seems to be on target; however, teachers are falling short of implementing. As a veteran parent, I have been very disappointed in the leadership change and feel it has compromised the overall well-being of the school. Finally, be wary of positive recommendations as this school now offers existing families $1000 off tuition for each new student they refer. If a school was worth attending, would such an offer be needed?
This is a great school for my children. My kids enjoy learning more here than at their previous public school which was rated as "A". I saw the homework and the coursework at St. Andrew's as about one grade level higher than what the public schools were teaching when my children transferred here. I was worried my children would not be able to keep up, or would have to repeat their grade, but their teachers helped catch them up and they moved on to the next grade. There are teachers with children at the school, and a lot of the same people continually volunteer for events, but which school doesn't have that? I don't volunteer much, but there are volunteers, unlike public schools that have to pay people to help out. Private school teachers are not working under the same contracts that public school teachers use. Here the teachers have to perform, or they are replaced. At a public school the teachers skate by with the same old tired worksheets, same old tired lesson plans and printouts that have been photocopied over and over until they are illegible to get the FCAT results. I am happy with the positive growth I have seen in my kids, and I am done with public education.
SAA is a good, safe school, but it doesn't fit on the "A" range school performance at all. The teachers have their own children there, many in the same classroom. FAVORITISM can not be hidden. At Awards ceremony, always you see the teacher's children receiving the awards,,,I wonder WHY??. The curriculum is limited, based on traditional public school method. The children review a critteria, then they are tested on this. My little one had struggling in math, and after asking since 1st. grade , just now she is receiving support on math after 2 1/2 years later. The teachers are too busy with school's task, celebrations, etc. that it's feels that they are forgetting about the main goal that is help your kids to sucess at school. at the middle school year of 2012, I could say that my daughter feels bored with the school routine . Parents are not friendly, the most are ridiculous competitive parents and for fundriser events you see the same volunteers supporting the school.
My daughter thrives at this school. Even in Kindergarten, the diversity of the academic and enrichment curiculum stimulates her and encourages her to work harder.
My daughter started first grade coming from morningside christian. That was a good school but it put alot of pressure on the kids to 'fit one mold' and ie. Do cursive writing in kindergarden! way to much at age 5! I am very involved with wanting my daughter to be 'educated'....St. Andrews goes a step beyond the last school in that i find it more balanced, well rounded and it is using the 'best practices' philosopy in educating children...Ie. To recognize each childs educational needs and meet those needs at whatever level...Instead of the 'old' fashion, outdated, lazy method of 'one' brand fits all. Also, although I am spiritual, it doesn't push religion into the classroom specifically. Rather my daughers teacher discusses being kind to eachother and good behavior. The faculty also is very open to discussing anything antime with a posiitive friendly attidute...Good communicators. Love the whole atmosphere.
My son is on his second year at St. Andrews and he loves it and so do I. Everyone, teachers, parents, principal and staff are wonderful when my son started it was in the middle of his 3rd grade year and every student in the class welcomed him with open arms and he has made many friends, and he loves going to school, the teachers are great with the kids and they all know all of the kids the principles door is always open to the parents and so are the teachers they are easy to talk to, My son is going into 5th grade this year and he will go their till he finishes 8th grade and he will go onto the high school if it is done by the time he finishes 8th grade, St. Andrews is like a family and its been wonderful to us
My 3 children have been educated at St. Andrew's Episcopal School since 1989. The staff & Head of School are dedicated & involved with our children. We have found our children to be sucessful in academics as well as life. St. Andrews has helped us raise our kids to be kind & compassionate, and strong in Academics. The facility is well maintained & safety is a priority.
My daughter has been at St. Andrews for 3 years now and our experience has been wonderful. The personal attention she recieves is second to none. The entire staff gives her the confidence she needs even though she sometimes struggles academically. My daughter says she wants to 'go there forever'!
What an outstanding school! I relocated from NY to Florida in the middle of the school year. My son entered the 5th grade at the time and had the warmest welcome from each and every student, the entire faculty and administrative staff. The personal attention each student receives is priceless! I highly recommend St. Andrew's to any parent. Your child will have a wonderful school experience. St. Andrew's has given my son a desire to learn and a better self-image. The entire staff is 100% dedicated and our children benefit. St. Andrew's is exactly what a school should be and MORE!
