I started at Loften in 8th grade and have LOVED it! I am a Sophomore this year and in the Business Acedemy. I think it is a wonderful school with great teachers and the principal pretty much knows every student by name. In the three years that I have been there, there have rarely been fights. I am really happy that I go there and I am deffinatly staying until I graduate =]

The other review is the way Loften used to be under the previous principal who truly cared about every student. It is no longer that way. The new principal and the teachers he brought with him have a totally different agenda, but no one seems to know what it is as it keeps changing and there doesn't really seem to be anyone in charge. Discipline has gone way down as has the enrollment since students have a choice whether they want to attend or not.

Loften High school is a work at your own pace school. The students enrolled are there because they want to learn. The educators believe in these kids and therefore they believe in themselves. They work together to make this school a safe and educational environment. There are individualized programs for the students to complete. Technical training to prepare them for the working world. When I first looked into possible enrollment at Loften for my daughter I was concerned because it is an alternative school. Not knowing what that meant I thought that if the kids were trouble makers this may be where they are sent. This is not the case. Loften accepts only those who want to learn and have incentive. There are goals to be met at the end of each year or the student is not invited back. The teachers work hard to keep the students and their parents involved.
