Genesis is a school I would whole-heartedly recommend. Teaching here has been a wonderful experience and if I had children they would attend here. Genesis' looping system fosters a strong bond between the staff, students and parents that you often lose in other public schools. Having the same teacher for four years ensure that your child receives a tailored education and ample one-on-one time with the educators. Overall, I continue to be impressed with the environment at Genesis.

Mrs Henry was my daughter's teacher for four years and we loved. She went out of her way to get a degree to teach a gifted child. I will always always love Mrs. Henry

My son has attended Genesis Prep from K - 2nd grade. I have been very happy with the school, the administration and the staff. The teachers care, the principal cares and is on a first name basis with all of the children and the parents. My only negative comment about Genesis is the lack of extracurricular activities (sports) for the kids. We've had to move to Texas for a new job so I will be missing Mrs. Henry the rest of the crew. But the school is an excellent choice for any child.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science and writing in grades 4, 8 and 10. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
