My son attended one year at this school and we then pulled him out. It was horrible. The teacher was not well prepared and she was really mean to the male students. She told the students she didn't like the boys. My son was physically attacked by a student with some severe behavioral issues that had been kicked out of several other schools. I am a teacher at a public high school and many of the students that come there from QPA are so ill prepared. They are definitely behind the students from other Catholic schools and from the public schools.
As we begin the daunting college selection process for our daughter who is now a sophomore at St. Francis High School, we recognize the foundation built at Queen of Peace Academy combined with her SFCHS experience is truly providing her with the skills she needs to compete and be successful spiritually, in the classroom, and in the business world. We are truly blessed!
I have had a very good experience at QPA. The teachers are and faculty are awesome. The education gets better as you grow older and get into the middle school. The teachers are comforting and help you when you have trouble in your studies or with a classmate. They have great clubs and sport opportunities. Go here for a faith based community and happy faces!!!
We spent 5 years at Queen of Peace and had a wonderful experience. The teachers were great. I always felt that QPA was a caring God present environment.
We have had a wonderful experience at Queen of Peace. Where else would a young elementary school student be learning Chinese and Spanish? There are a few disgruntled parents whose children have caused problems and have been asked to leave, hence the negative reviews. Excellent school, amazing education for the price.
We have had a very positve experience at QPA. Both of my children love it and have excelled in the academic arena.
This is OLD SCHOOl catholic school at its worst - worse then the 60's. We have been here for 6 years and have watched it deteriorate to the point where we must leave. I can echo all the negative comments below: teachers are parents or retirees and in some cases no more qualified to teach then I am. They teach from a book, and if your child does not learn by lecture, and is not a "stepford student" they will not do well. Many, many parents have gone to this administration to complain about the yelling, lack of positive environment, lack of help when there are issues. "If you don't like it leave." Children learn Chinese but don't know how to properly form a paragraph. Children are scared and intimidated. One teacher told the class they were "pathetic." Another throws books at the kids. My child has lost his love of
The positive ratings got to be from teachers (most of them a parents). This school has become a very SAD place to be. Teachers are 'mean', specials are below average and let's not even mention the special teachers - horrible. After 2nd grade the kids a lucky to get recess once a while. This is a very hostile place, yelling seems to be the norm. To sum it up; so much talk, we mean SO MUCH TALK, and no action at all to back any of it up! Spend your money wisley and go elsewhere. We don't know of many happy parents here.
Hostile teachers, the protection of them and not the students had brought me to tears. I recommend you avoid putting your children in their hands.
$5 dollar lunches, endless requests for you to purchase and volunteer and at the end of the day you don' t even know how well your child is doing since QPA does Iowa Achievement tests instead of something that could be truly compared to an FCAT.
