SunFlower School's environment is refreshingly stimulating, respectful, developmentally-appropriate, nature-focused, creative, and welcoming. We painstakingly researched homeschooling, private options (including Montessori schools), and public fundamental/magnet programs, and SunFlower has been a wonderful fit for our daughter. She has excelled academically and socially and soon will head to a gifted magnet middle school. We appreciate the many wonderful aspects of SunFlower, including: (a) The intensely dedicated, long-tenured, and exceptionally gifted director and faculty; (b) The preservation of childhood, creative expression, and love of learning; (c) A wholesome balance of traditional academics, project-based deep learning, and outside play and exploration; (d) an emphasis on the arts, which remarkably includes a different full-length Shakespeare play in vernacular every year staged by the 3rd through 5th graders, who virtually vibrate with the excitement and learning from this; (e) Small classes that allow for crucial relationship skill development and differentiated instruction; and (d) the warmth and accessibility of the school and its community. We urge you: Go visit!
Over the top. I would never send my son to another school again. He is blossoming in his studies and his relationships. Faculty is exceptionally available and parental input is honored. As I meet parents of former graduates in the community, I am truly impressed at how Sunflower has prepared children for creative and worthwhile careers.
As a former student, I continue to treasure the relationships built, knowledge gained, and skills learned at SunFlower. Emphasis on learning for the sake of knowledge rather than external accomplishments. Warm and caring environment. I only hope my children will attend SunFlower one day.
offers a rich academic environment for self-motivated, creative and gifted students. SunFlower provides small groups, stability, lots of individual attention, challenging academics, an emphasis on the arts, joy in learning, and a rich environment of people who know the kids and care about them.
