It pains me to say it, but this school is terrible. Gadsden County and particularly Havana El. have a much beleaguered history and I don't think they will ever find their way out of or toward a path of producing quality students, attracting quality teachers and involved, high quality leadership. Sadly, they will never develop, produce or attract what a school needs or what children need to be successful.
Havana Elementary School is a Title 1 school that has many children with outstanding but unrealized potential. Resources are very limited, teachers are strongly urged to teach "to the test" which has a very negative effect in many instances, and opportunities to empower children are sporadic. Children do currently get free breakfast and lunch each day, which is a real plus for many who would not otherwise have enough to eat.
Gets two stars for teachers who try hard. Otherwise it would get zero stars. Total lack of funding; segregationost academy draws nearly all of the white students and the resources. With few excepyions, no white adult support. Poor students forced to buy the teacher's supplies. Little help for the Hispanic studenrs.
