Asbury has a lot of potential and for a while there the school did great once the Mazzoranos left. But for the last two years the school has been a disgrace. Most of the faculty has no more than a high school dregree. About only two have an AA. This was my son's last year and I kick myself for having have left him there. He had honor roll yet failed all the tests given at the following school. The school needs an overhall. They need to stop placing pretend aminastrator with no education or knowledge and they need an entire new staff with bachelors in education. Parents do not place your kids in this school. You will be disappointed.
My son has attended Asbury for many years now. It truly has the best curriculum. He has learned so much, and this is because of all the teachers he has had. Asbury provides a safe and nurturing environment for all children. One review mentioned "bullying". To that parent I say, you have NO IDEA what bullying truly is. I am a public school teacher, and it is RAMPANT in my school, and MANY schools across Dade County. I would never place my son in my own school, and it really isn't as bad as some of the other public schools. However, Asbury is far more superior, even down to the school lunch!
I had to take my child out of this school this year. This school lacks a good administration and teachers! It is extremely disorganized! I can agree with some of the previews reviews when it comes to the curriculum. This school uses ABeka, which is an amazing curriculum but are the teachers teaching this correctly?! My child would come home with a bunch of worksheets from the book, which should of been done and taught in the classroom but the teacher would send them home for H.W. without even explaining them. My child's teacher had no classroom management skills at all! Notes were sent home constantly complaining about my child talking in class. When I would speak to the other moms from the class, they were also getting notes sent home as well almost everyday. The teacher did not know how to control the kids.
