First off, I'm not sure what the parent below in the comment is referring to. My daugther has never been used to sell anything. If I don't want something they are selling at the school I tell my daugther we are not doing it. I have an her in Hollywood for 2 years. My daugther has improved in every subject. So to the defense of Ms.December and the school they are doing their job. Perhaps you should have gone to the office or when you received the yellow page that states why your kid was absence you should have sent it back.

The principal is one of the most phony individuals that I have ever meet as well as the most revengeful individual. This principal and the PTA use our underage children as advertisement tools to raise money GOD knows for what (without parent consent). After we asked the principal to stop such practice she turned us in because our child (who is an math superstar, accelerated reader and very well-mannered student) had 5 unexcused absents (school refused to excuse them after our above complaint) . Only in my child s class are students that took 2 weeks vacation to Disney , or went for 10 days to Mexico without excuse and were never turned in). If the principal will retaliate and bully against the parents who file complaints I am questioning her ability to be in charge of our children and lead the public schools that we paid taxes for . Join me in my complaint against the Hollywood Central Elementary principle (directed to Superintended and school board)) if you had similar experience

My interactions with the staff have all been positive. My child has progressed well in his time at the school. I appreciate that the school has maintained language, music, and phys ed when others have cut those programs. There is homework even at the K level. We get regular feedback from our child's teacher; the staff strikes me as very committed and accessible. I am not sure what the gripes about "improve" mean. The state obligates teachers to focus on testing to the detriment of education, but that is a problem throughout the state, not a Broward- or HCE-specific issue. It would be nice if more parents were involved, but there is a committed PTA. It is all around a good school, and I have no qualms about my child being there or recommending it to others.

If you take care your kids....find better school.... I would never recommend anyone to go to this school... My kids were there and it was not good. I have to changed them...

This is a bad school. Some teachers are slow and the students don't improve. They need tutoring to get their grade level. The school need to change the system and have to motivate the students. The kids go to school to learn .... LEARN !!!!!

My son transfered into first grade half way though the year. I was very worried about the change, but the teachers and staff have made him feel very welcome. He has integrated well with the class great and the best part is that when I pick him up and ask him how his day went he says "AWESOME" with a big smile on his face - its more that what I can ask for - WE LOVE IT!

Awesome school with a super giving and involved PTA and a forward thinking wonderful administration. You couldn't ask for more in an elementary program for your child.

We have had the best, most attentive teachers we could have asked for. The PTA is also very active. There is accessibility to our teachers via their classroom website, email, etc.

My son is in 1st grade this year. It is his second year at Hollywood Central Elementary. I was very nervous sending him to public school, being a product of private school my entire life. But as a single mom, I didn't have many other choices. I can honestly say that I am very pleased with the school's teachers and administration. My son actually looks forward to going to school. I'd definitely recommend this 'A' school.

A great open campus and a warm and friendly staff. As in most schools, the education is as good as your child's teacher. HCE has its share of fine teachers; you just have to seek them out.

My daughter's first grade experience here was really great... she had an amazing teacher who was able to reach out to each child individually!

Both my daughter and my son attend HCE. I am very happy with HCE overall care of my children both academically, mentally, emotionally, physically. HCE isn't just school, it's family. I can always speak with the teachers, principal or any one without a hassle. At HCE, the PTA is top notch with the fundraisers. They get the children motivated by having school mega parties. The teacher and administration involvement with the students are great. I enjoy volunteering whenever I get the chance. I most pleased and can't wait to have my youngest daughter to join the HCE Family next year!
