Driftwood Middle School

I'm an eight grader now and what I have experienced in this school is great. The teachers are strict sometimes because their trying to teach a lesson and my school has staff members and a policeman checking the hallways to ensure no horseplay or students skipping class. Since I got to this school it was okay but it has improved a lot. There are some teachers that go over the extreme and are unfair. Also I have seen that lots of kids are applying to this school. The only thing I would change is when school ends and the walkers have to exit to the back of the school. Other than that its good also there's lots of clubs and sports. Just letting you know the coaches will remove your child out of a sport depending on their grades they don't tolerate students with low grades on a sport team even if the student is a great player. Our food is good due to our new vending machine that now sells yogurt parfait and chicken wrap. This school is great, one more thing on your first day students just need to bring 3 pencils a bookbag and paper because that day teachers will give them their school supplies list. I hope you found my comment useful.

I don't like it because of the lunch seating. And everything else. The lunch isn't good. The teachers are mean. And I'm gonna start the school and I don't know when or the supply list.

DMS is the worst school I've ever dealt with. There's no communication between teachers and the office, and definitely none between the teachers and parents. My daughters are in 6th and 7th grades there now. My 6th grader had a problem with a teacher swearing at them and calling them names. My 7th grader has problems with her teachers just not taking the education they're supposed to be providing serious enough. And calling the school to set up a parent/teacher conference is easy.. but returning a phone message after a guidance counselor calls you is a joke. Knowing that a certain person works there... the office will tell you otherwise. This school is a joke and I can't wait to pull my kids out of there!!!!!!!

I have never had any issues with the school. the things that i do not like is that they have this wikki spaces and to me it is very hard to e-mail a teacher and see what is happening. I also don't like the fact that the principal makes the children walk a different way after they get out of school causing some of the kids to miss crossing guards and all. I think the only reason he has the job is of who his falther.

We pulled our child out of the school after his first year. We had a horrible experience with bullying that went largely unaddressed. The principal is one of the worst administrator's I've ever had the displeasure to meet. (Note: his father is a prominent member of the Board of Education.) I was one of the "lucky" few who obtained an audience. Another mom whose son was being bullied remarked she would have a better chance of getting an appointment with Obama. The only positive was that several of my child's teachers were kind, caring and effective.

I agree with the lack of communication with the teachers and office staff at Driftwood Middle School. This is definitely an error of concern for involved parent(s).

I am very pleased with Driftwood Middle School! The teachers are very caring and dedicated, the principal is very hands on and the school is spotless!! The administrators are always just a phone call away. The PTSA is new,but very involved in the school. I am proud my son attends Driftwood Middle School!!

i am new six grader and when i took a step there i was shocked by the faculty and how nice they were including the principal.i am in the gem and they push you to sucess.

I am a 6th grader at driftwood middle school and i would say i love attending this school since the beginning of the school year! all the teachers are nice and most students are friendly! this school is really fun and strict at the same time! dms is a physical wellnesss magnet school that has its own gym and aerobics room! I say that is focuses on physical wellness as much as it focuses on the other academics like math and such! dms is a really great school and i would recommend it to anybody and everybody!

I am in seventh grade a DMS. I am in advanced classes and i have physical fitnness and learn to plant plants. All the teachers at the school are very helpful to get us the help we need and to get us throw the fcat. I am having such a great time if anyone wants to go there they will have BLAST

I am an eighth grade student at DMS. I am currently in the gifted program and in the school band. I believe the school band is the most amazing part of the school. The band teacher, Mr. Mortan, has an amazing talent for music and loves to share it with all. Also the schools jazz band is quite awsome. We tend to liven crowds with our exciting up to beat music and bring smiles to faces! I highly recommened Driftwood Middle as an incredible school that students will love. Lastley two amazing teachers, besides Mr. Mortan, are Ms. Goldberg and Mrs. Turner. You learn so much in their classes,while having a BLAST!

The teaching and guidance staff here are excellent they really work with the kids and address issues quickly. Teachers make every effort to keep parents informed and this year we have the virtual counselor all parents need to use this tool my youngest son still attends driftwood it is his last year and this year he has been moved into all advanced classes! both my sons have gone to this school 2 yrs apart and i believe they received a tremendous education here both through their studies and in life.

I am a seventh grade gifted student currently attending Driftwood Middle. I entered the gifted program halfway through 6th grade. The gifted program at this school is exceptional. Students in the program experience a wide range of curriculum, including outdoor activities. I honestly feel that the gifted students are more privledged than the advanced students, having experienced the curriculum of both. The teachers I now have are amazing. Ms. Stasiw is my favorite teacher at DMS. She goes out of her way to make learning science more fun. In her class we tend to our garden, in which we have rare endangered insects and plants. Ms. Stasiw has sparked an interest of science in me and I will never forget her.

I think this school needs more control!!! Students are crazy and they are keeping other kids from learning. i think this school should have a big fat F!
