My child is a 2nd graderand she has attended FIA since K. When she was struggling with reading she received one-on-one attention and when she had trouble with math, she received free tutoring. I am very thankful to the staff at FIA. My only concern is the open access to the campus and limited security, but this will be resolved when theyh move to the new building this summer.

:-( I am looking into other schools. My child's grades are dropping. I don't see that this school is trying to help my child succeed. I thought my child would do well here, I've been asking for help, it's not happening.

As a former parent, I can honestly say that this school has gone down through the years. The administration office and it's Director no longer have the focus or well being of the children. There is no communication with parents nor administrators. Now with the opening of the new school it is obvious that it's all about the money they can make. I suggest not to be apart of this pyramid that is being created and find other schools to help your child develop the social and educational need that they truly deserve!

My son has been attending this jewel of a school since K. Throughout, our shool experience has been wonderful. The teachers know all of the children by name and they genuinely care for them. When my son struggled, the teachers were there even after hours. The director, principal and teachers have one agenda...giving each child the best education possible. Although some office staff changes have been frowned upon, I still feel very fortunate in having my son educated in this challenging curriculum that FIA offers.

EVERYONE, from the teachers, to the office staff , at this school really cares about the students at this small school. Every teacher knows every child by name . Parents can call the teacher of their child any time with questions. It's a great place for a child .

I am very happy with FIA. As a former homeschooling family, we are very choosy when it comes to education and who we trust with our children. The principal and staff were very welcoming and accomodating and our children assimilated easily. We found the curriculum to be challenging and our children enjoy going to school. The only downside is the fact that there is only one class per grade for most grades, so if you don't care for a teacher--personality differences, teaching style, etc.-- your child is basically stuck with the teacher until the next year. But while this is not good, I also do like the fact that the school is small and everyone pretty much knows everyone. All in all, there are no 'perfect in every way' schools, but FIA by far is much better than anything I've found thus far.

I changed my daughter to other school. I don't like the area. My daughter's teacher ( K ) is excellent and the secretary too. Classes are small, it is a church building.

FIA has been the best decision ever! The curriculum is very challenging. Most parents have commented that each grade is taught at a higher level than traditional schooling. If a parent is truly seeking an environment that is creative, challenging, meet state standards, well-disciplined in regards to student behavior, and exposed to International teachers: then FIA is an excellent choice! My children are thriving at FIA. Many have commented that FIA students are getting a quality private education 'free'. The extracurricular activities are supported by community helpers offering services (i.e. piano, dance, P.E.). I took my children out of private schooling and enrolled them in FIA. Enrollment has doubled which speaks for itself.

My daughter is a kindergarten student at FIA. Although she started three months late, I could really see the difference that FIA curriculum has made! My daughter has acquired the necessary skills. If you are a parent who believe that skills are necessary for your child to survive academically and in life, this is the place for you. But the school needs to improve their facilities for physical education. The school encourages parents to be involved but one could see that the same few parents get involved!

This is the end of my daughter's first year at FIA, and I have to say that I strongly regret that decision. I find no benefit to a program that focuses on 'intercultural' education when we live in multicultural society and daily come into contact with people of all ethincities and cultures. I think that we have come to expect so little from schools and our educational system that we look at small class sizes and a small student body and are grateful. I wish I had enrolled my daughter at a regular public school. The benefits of small class size at this charter school do not outweigh the drawbacks of regular public school. If all you want is a small class size and a small student body then this is the place for you. But if your looking for a challenging but nuturing environment for your child look elsewhere.

My son attends FIA, he is in the 4th grade. This is our 2nd year there and I would highly reccomend the school to anyone. The academic programs are thorough and child specific. The administration and teachers are on a personal level with the parents and promote open communication and collaboration among everyone. The FCAT program is well organized and their scores were extremely high last year. The school advocates for diversity and educating their students regarding cultural differences. Monthly festivals are held in honor of the many countries that the children learn about. However, there is not a vast selection for extracurricular activities (i.e. music, art, sports). The space is rather limited and supplies are in demand. The school is small, therefore the class sizes are adequate. Although, the school will most likely re-locate to another site to add more students/grade levels.

About the tests
Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
GreatSchools Ratings are based on the most recent standardized test results for schools.
