I have been attending HAAS in general for 8 years (6 years in the elementary and this is the 4th quarter of my second year in the middle school), so basically 7th grade. I loved the old school, except it had bad facilities. Charter Schools USA generally provides a safe and higher-quality education environment than the typical public school. Unfortunately, the teachers and staff are a little obsessed with giving demerits and punishing/threatening kids. Most of the staff, including the principal and vice principals are under the age of 40. It would be nice if the facilities and extra-curricular opportunities were a little bit better, even in the new school, which is about 1/3 the size of a normal school when it comes to grade sizes. Also, if there were a few teachers that were not there, you know, the aloof, cranky, lazy, and mean ones, we'd be an excellent school, not just a great one. Oh yeah! A few more school-sanctioned social events would be nice.

My kids hate this school, my daughter has always been in gifted classes but since attending this school she was not accepted into the program and they have her in 2 different tutoring programs, I just really don't understand this school, When we first came to this school we had high hopes and expectations what a big disappointment. Also some of the staff members are very rude and disrespectful especially in the cafeteria and they never let the kids finish eating, one or two bites and then they have to through out there food. I'm so sick of this school already and this is there first year there, I can't wait to get them into a better environment....

I attended the information session for parents prior to enrolling my child. I was not too thrilled. They say first impressions mean a lot. A parent hurt himself walking to the entrance and injured his knee. He could not walk so an ambulance was called. Not one teacher showed up to assist. Glad it was not a child who needed help. To top things off, I was scolded by another parent for parking in line with all of the other cars. Really? Time to find another school.

I'm shocked. I thought this was going to be a great school but what a huge disappointment. I understand the fact that it was a hard transition into the new school but you can only use that excuse for so long. I can't believe how unorganized the staff is and how rude. Nobody takes responsibility for anything and nobody can give you a straight answer. My child was so excited and couldn't wait to start school. Now we might be transferring. I'm just not willing to let my child s education suffer because they can't get it together. I've spoke to several parents that feel the same way and it's not fair. We all work very hard to make sure our children are able to succeed in life. I really feel that the head staff at this school doesn t really care. They set a bunch of rules but fail to set an example for our children. I can t believe the things that have been going on and I feel like I ve wasted valuable time for nothing.

This school is HORRIBLE. Most of the teachers are angry and inequipt to deal with children. They do nothing but yell and hand out demerits. Kids are not allowed to speak. If you an LD or gifted child they will make sure you leave. Emails to the principal are not answered. The vp is the gatekeeper to not addressing issues parents attempt to discuss. No clubs. No sports. No positive reinforcement. Just whats wrong with your child. Never homework in what they call "AP" classes? And the school board states they do not deal with issues regarding charter schools so good luck!

My child has attended this school since they started and has succeeded academically extreme well. I've always felt that the principal, teachers and staff truly care for the children. As a charter school, the parents involvement is required by volunteering 20-30 hours yearly, which makes everyone, including parents to get involved with school and to get to know the students and staff.

Well, I am a student of this school, and I pretty much like it. The only thing I don't like is that they don't focus on middle school, only on elementary. They also don't let us wear our own style, only uniforms.

Think twice and really do your research before sending your child here. Its pluses are small, close knit community but the disadvantages are larger class sizes (25-28 on average, there was a 1st grade class with 29), no extra curricular sports. The teachers are always leaving and those that stay are brand new to teachng and therefore don't have a clue about teaching. This school is great if you want your kid to live in a bubble. It does not prepare them for the real world. I pulled my children out before they even finished their first year there.

this is my second year at this school. i hate it. there is nothing to do after school exept detention. the only reason im still at that school is because of my friends. the teachers are horrible(exept for mr.amon, mrs.rogers, and ms.martin) this school is very unorganized. the idea of having a school under an apartment is a very bad idea. you feel like your in jail, not school. the closest you get to seeing outside is the windows, and in most classes the windows are covered. during lunch we can`t get a little loud or we will be put on silent lunch. i am 15 years old and get treated like a baby or like a did something wrong and is being punished for it so i got put in this school. they do not prepare us at all for the real world or even high school.field trips are rare
