My son went here 2 years. Kindergarten & first grade. My son is autistic. Kindergarten was fabulous. The 2 teachers that worked with him were Amazing ! When he went to 1st grade everything went down hill. The teacher would insult my son ( I guess she thought he would not tell me) she was late everyday! Her form of communication was sending a piece of paper with a line on explanations. I asked her to please elaborate on the behavioral issues - she said she didn't have time. No time ? These are special needs children. In the end, I left and put my son in private school where his needs are being met. Oh- I did go to the principal - he did nothing.

The office staff is not helpful. Whenever I call I am greeted by rude answers and absolutely no help.

I feel the school is overcrowded but most of the teachers are wonderful. The principal Dr. Jones is wonderful with all the kids and I am just grateful that this is a 'A' school since Miami Dade has the worst schools in the country.

I feel the school is over crowed not enough teachers , the outside trailers need to be removed and add onto the school with new building . Landscape the outside , add a school post board outside . The lunch room & cafeteria is too small , not enough a/c for the children . it's out of control most of the time . Not enought P.T.A. memebers , need more parents to particapate . More random head checks for head lice !

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
