This school needs to be shut down!!!! This is the worst school that any parent could allow their child to attend. I would recommend all parents to try their hardest to transfer their child/ren out of this school because the majority of the teachers are there simply for a paycheck and they make it very clear that they're going to get paid regardless of whether the students learn or not. Huh?? Is that why you became a teacher?? Well the student performance at Redland is very low because of the lazy teachers and the behavior of the attending students is ridiculous. The students walk around the school using obscenities as is they were grown-ups. But they also demonstrate behavior that the school personnel have displayed. The principal is never seen so I can't comment on that which may be the problem here!!! Hmmm....I wonder where is the principal ever at because the uneducated assistant principal runs the school along with the ignorant security monitors. They claim that the principal is never available. REALLY??? Sad case for a DCPSchool!

I am also an 8th grader at redland middle school. the teachers there are great. some don't a few don't seem to care much but thats because unfortunately many kids are obnoxious and stupid (behavior wise) and go around disrespecting teachers. these teachers can only take so much idiocy before they lose their cool. the new principal doesn't seem as good as the last but I suppose that is because he had worked here the past decade or so and had his own thing going. the new principal is doing alright for her first year but I expect her to be able serve the new students better. also i can't really say much on the advanced classes I being in honors the past 5 or so years but from what I hear from some of my new classmates Its a dream(as in you learn things).so, great teachers, fair principal, good program, immature students

I am an 8th grader here at Redland Middle and I can honestly say that this school is just like an ordinary middle school. Most of the teachers are very caring, yet some teachers just don't care at all. I'm hoping that I can make it to Southdade Senior High next year. The Drama is good, we just need to do a show already! Redlands not bad, just the kids are.

Redland might seem like a bad school because of the fights every so often, but the programs they have and the encouragement that teacher give the students is very high.In this school there are only two choices your son/daugh may have.they are to succeed or tho live a life knowing nothing, and if that's your kid's choice you encourage your kids to do the the right things in life. te teachers job is only to teach them things they will need to use in the future, but as a parent it is your job to teach them right from wrong.

this is a very wonderful school but it needs more extra things like fieldtrips and dances to reward the students so they strive to make the effort

I am so very pleased with the academic program and teacher involvement my son received at Redland Middle. He went from a marginal student to Honor Roll every semester since transferring in January 2004. He has excelled within the Music program taking honors in Band and developing his talents to encompass flute, alto sax, guitar and keyboard. His academic achievements have lead to his acceptance in all honors classes for the upcoming year in high school. As a parent,I maintain high involvement in all school activities and only wish there was more parental involvement. The school administration and counselors are highly motivated to assist and encourage each student to strive and develop their own individual academic and personal achievement. I have seen a remarkable improvement in the programs and the school over the past three years.

I only have one word to say about this school 'bad.' There are so many fights. Most of the teachers do not care about the students. It's bad thats all I have to say.
