Ocean Breeze Elementary School

I strongly agree with the previous parent review. The focus of this administration has been on school ratings, and therefor test scores for many years. As a former Ocean Breeze teacher myself, I can say that there is a tremendous amount of pressure put upon the teachers as well as students.

If a great school has 'excellent teachers, strong principal/school leadership and challenging academic programs' then I am afraid I must rate Ocean Breeze honestly and provide a single star. Bullying is an issue that is rampant, and it was our experience that the teacher did not feel it necessary to inform the parent that this was happening to our child. The emphasis is on 'testing' instead of 'teaching' and as a result the caliber of actual *learning* is far below that which is actually beneficial to a child. I thoroughly agree with the other commenter that the administration is not approachable. My experience was that their mentality was 'our way or the highway' ~ thus, it's no wonder that a significant number of parents withdrew ~ or plan to withdraw their children from the school at the end of the 2010 school year.

Ocean Breeze Elementary is a rare gem! From the principal to the janitorial staff, everyone is so kind, works hard, shares a common goal of excellence and always has time for you with a smile. The educational development of children here is so far ahead of other schools in our own district! The level of parent involvement is higher than anything I have ever seen! PTO is so helpful and user friendly! The activities, clubs, technology and learning materials are only the best! There should be a level higher than A+ for this school! This school is the reason you buy a home in the equally amazing neighborhood that surround this school! Great school and a great place to live! What a place!

Our kindergartner has the most wonderful teacher at Ocean Breeze Elementary. She is kind, respectful, and experienced. We chose this school over many other options and are very pleased with our child's progress. The students are always very polite, well supervised, and in control. The school is clean and very well maintained. The neighborhood is quiet and the local police are ever-present. Wonderful School!

Ocean Breeze is a quality academic environment with high expectations of all students. Technology is always updated; music and art flourish, and there are a wide variety of extra-curricular activities available including math club, chess club, book talk club, rocket club, future problem solving, chorus and strings.

My children came to this school from Holy Trinity, a private school in our area. I was surprised to find that they were so far behind the children at Ocean Breeze. We have been nothing but pleased with the change. Ocean Breeze is a very well kept school. The teachers are caring and very supportive of the students. I have never experienced parent involvment with a school as I have at Ocean Breeze. As parents we believe in and support our school, as it's A+ rating clearly shows. This is a great school!
