raines is a good school and i can say because my birth names is sadie raines
this year i came into william m raines by force since i had no other school to go to. and yes i am a freshman. i was very unhappy about having to go here BUT this is indeed one of the best schools ive ever been to in my life. the tv may say one thing but they never speak about the good of William m raines. STUDENTS ARE VERY FRIENDLY TO ONE ANOTHER it isn't a "fit in' type of school i made many friends this year and i cheered for them also. coach Rhonda was great. the security is like the best ever and our principal mr Maxy is doing all he can to motivate us and push us in the right direction. william m raines is THE BEST EVER and i know this from experience nd its just abt drama free smh im sad i gotta leave :[
For everyone who has a problem with William Marion Raines Senior High School home of the MIghty Vikings Ichibon #1 never to settle for #2, well this is the 2010-2011 Head Drum Major Leonard Paul Jackson Jr; speaking, and all i have to say is that you would have to be a Viking to know what goes on @ 3663 Raines Ave, Jax Fl 32209. Raines is the Best School that i have ever attended in my life. Inspite all the shooting, and threats that has happened in the past, we are a New Raines, and are doing great things. we have come from being an F school, to a D and we will become a C.. Raines is nmoving in a very possitive way and for those who cant see that... well u may need to clean your lenses. What im saying is dont talk about us.. be apart of us, be apart of a legend, join the Viking Pride something that noman on this planet can take.. A Viking never dies we will live on to be the only ones out of the First African American High Schools in Duval County... I bleed Cardinal Red and Silver Gray.. It never Raines on a VIKING!!!!! Ichibon all day..
WILLIAM M. RAINES IS THE BEST SCHOOL TO ME I LOVE IT AND LOOKING FOWARD TO GRADUATING IN 2014 HOPE THEY DONT CLOSE IT DOWN
Raines is a good school inspite of what the media tries to portray. Teachers and staff members do their best prepare students for college. i would recommend Raines high to any parent.
my school is awsome and no matter what the news may say we are a good school we're no different from the other schools everyone in our school are not criminals and we don't like being treated like we are........TBC
ive only been goin to raines my freshman year. to me this school is one of the worst schools i have gone too. there are fights almost everyday! the ciriculum is not that great. im learning things in 9th grade that i learned in 7 grade at my junior high school and you also have to wear a clear backpack, and to me that is a total invasion of privacy, u should be able to wear whatever kind of backpack u want to wear. to me if u have another choice of a high school please choose another one not this one. and not to mention there is very very little cultural diverty and to me cultural diversity is a big part. so please take what i say into concideration
I am a student at Raines High School i gradute Class of 2010 basically there are troubled kids at every school but Raines all around is e grat school with wonderful teachers who help you and try to build you up only thing that hurts the students are the misconceptions and the sterotypes put on us which most times are not true and the lack of sensitivity and organization in guidance
horrible school. graduated last year and i'm now in college. now i can see how much they didn't teach me. i went their all 4 years and now i'm suffering for 4 more.
Another Class of '06 graduate here. Honestly, Raines bark is worse than its bite. I came from rival school Ribault, and Raines is in my opinion way better. Moral is higher, school appreciation is better, far less fights and a decent social surrounding. The students that go to Raines just seem more lively about what they want to do. Guidance could use some shaping up, and when I was there Carol Daniels was waaaaaaay too strict. If anyone see her, tell her class of '06 want new yearbooks wit color and our 'I Passed the FCAT' t-shirts. Raines atmosphere was almost family like. The bad rumors aren't true and the good ones don't get circulated. Im a proud Raines Viking.
I am a Raines graduate, class of 06'. I cannot speak for how the school is now, but during my four years there I has a pretty good experience. In terms of education the staff and principal were very diligent about preparing students for the FCAT. Like any school you have your delinquents, but overall I would not say it's a bad school. There is a new principal now so maybe the kids are allowed more freedom. Carol Daniels was my principal and she was a little too strict. If you take away the only fun kids have at school, pep rallies, mock wedding, funeral ect, they are going to act out in protest. You have a strike a balance between education and extracurricular activities. I went to school to learn and not goof around so I received a valuable education that is still benefiting me now in college. E.Hope
This school is not as bad as society see it. It focuses on tradition and academics. Students show pride in their school and the things in which their school is involved with. Just because the school receives a grade of a 'F' it does not put the students down but makes them strive to be their best and do their best. Just like it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to build a school and it's reputation.
This school is bad. It needs alot of improvements. Fights go on alot too.
Ever since the change in administration at William M. Raines, I have notice a significant increase in parental involvement as well as a sense of pride in academic achievements with the students at this high school. I am truly impressed to see so many young black male who have made the Honor Roll and are members of the National Honor Society. Bravo William M Raines!! Even though there are a few bad apples, that doesn't mean they spoil the whole bunch. Most of the negative press that the school receives are based from the surrounding community and is not associated with anyone attending William M Raines High School. Proud Parent
Raines high school has an excellent engeneering program and it's not the school that's bad its just a few of the kids who's making the school going down. IF the kids that don't do their work how are they going to pass the FCAT. So the kids who don't do their work make everyone and the school look bad.
Raines High School is a school that takes a lot of pride not only in its athletic department, but academically as well. The parents in the community really need to support their school. The answer is not pulling your child out because the school receives an 'F' grade. 'F' does not mean that the teachers are failing to educate your child. Your child is being taught and if he or she is retaining the information they will have no problem passing the FCAT. You need to be a supportive parent. Don't blame teachers simply because the state says that the grade is an 'F'. There are quality people in the school that really care. The administration and teachers are workling feverishly to develop all the students in the school. Please do not allow others to fool you about education vs. letgation. Proud Viking
I know for a fact that the guidance department at William M. Raines High School is so sorry. They did not have any ACT Packets there this year or last year whatsoever. Now how are the students to further their education if they can't do what's necessary to do so? Angry Parent.
