Brookview is the best school. Luckily we have been here a couple of years and have really grown attached to our teachers and the staff. I have several friends with kids here as well. We are a Navy family, and there a lot of Navy kids here that my kids relate to. It has helped with our transition to Jacksonville. The teachers have been very understanding about our way of life. I would highly recommend this school.

My child was there for the whole kindergarten year, never went to field trips or other extracurricular activities. As new and excited parents about our children education we bought her uniforms that she was never able to wear because the 99.9% of the students do not wear uniforms. Overall a very frustrating experience.

I love this school. The teachers and office staff are pleasant to deal with. Some of the teachers are simply outstanding. The students are treated with respect and the kids seem to be happy and learning very well. I am overall quite happy with the school. The wonderful atributes of this school go to the teachers. I cannot speak for the leadership as I see none. GREAT JOB TEACHERS! THANK YOU!

My family is from up North and went to a Catholic school. Maybe that's why I felt my daughter lost a year going to this school. Even when I went to register her I had a bad feeling. I did try to go to another school but you have to go to the school in your district and private school wasnt an option at the time. The classroom was unorganized and the teacher was older and didnt seem to care much. Homework was the same thing every week, sentences and alphabetical order....how boring! and what about the other subjects! My daughter did make the A/B honor role but I believe it was only because she had a strong foundation from k-1 in private school. i recommend getting your kids in the magnet schools if you live in that area.

If your child needs to be tested for any learning problem, it will never happen at this school. My children have had a couple of outstanding teachers at this school that really seem to care about teaching the children; however, we've also had some that seem to only want to hand the kids a test and hope they know it. Trying to get any extra help for your child at this school is like trying to eggs from a cow.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science and writing in grades 4, 8 and 10. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
