My daughter will be attending 1st grade this year, and I am very impressed with this school. Her kindergarten teacher was such a blessing, and my husband and I just had a conference with the principal, who was so sweet, and who we could tell genuinely cares about her students. I love this school!! The people at the front desk are very nice, and will take care of you right away.. Im very pleased, and excited for my baby to start a new year there. A+
My son was a transfer student from another school. I did not like his kindergarten teacher... She was very unorganized and to me seemed like she had NO PATIENCE... Also his end of the year report card said retained and he was not. Hopefully 1st grade will be better, and if so I will update my rating.
I love this school,i went here when i was younger and now i have 2 son's that go there and they really enjoy it.The teacher's are excellent very willing to talk to you on anything about your child. The principal is very informative on school activities. All in all i give lone star an A++++++
My daughter has been going to Lone Star Elementary since Kindergarten. She absolutely loves it. She didn't have the best experience in Kindergarten, but she learned what she needed to excel to the 1st grade. The extended day program is great. The teachers, staff, and the principal are great. I would recommend this school to any parent that is seeking a better public education for their child.
My daughter has been going to this school since Kindergarten. She has had amazing teachers who challenge her. The outcome has been beneficial to her. She has exceeded or at least met expectation in the long run. This school is highly recommended by me. Frances Gonzales, Parent
My 3 boys go to Lone Star Elementary. This is a great school with outstanding teachers. All of my children have wonderful, caring teachers who go the extra mile for each one of them.
I love this school wonderful teachers....and the pta is great... I give it a 5
My daughter has attended Lonestar for two years now and she loves it! Every teacher that I have met seems to be student driven. Thank you Lonestar.
This is a great school for your kids. It is fun, safe, and the teachers are wonderful! I am a former student of Lone Star and I recently visited the school. It is still very well kept and they have added some security features as well. I hope that every child will love it as much as i did.
I have a fourth grader and a kindergartner in this school. In comparison to other public schools in the area that my son attended, this is bt far the best. They have a great extended day program for the children and above average extracurricular activities. The teachers seem genuinely concerned for each student, and as mentioned by another parents here, the longevity of the staff is impressive. The playground equipment is above average and the campus is well kept and situated. The only disappointment is that on their website, they advertise a nature trail...(they are situated next to a preserve) the students have yet to utilize. There are nacho, sundae and pizza parties in extended day, various days where they bring out water bouncies/moon bounces. The staff promote an environment of citizenship and reward those students who exhibit such traits. I appreciate the shirt tucked, belt on dress code policy.
My first child attended Lone Star Elementary from 1994 through 1999 and it was a wonderful experience. My second child started Lone Star in 2002 and will be a 4th grader this year. Again, it has been a wonderful experience. Many of the staff are the same since 1994 and, in my opinion, that says a lot about not only the school, but the administration as well. I would highly recommend Lone Star Elementary to any parent. As far as I am concerned, it is a 'well kept secret' in the school community.
I think that the school puts forth a great deal of effort to help children do their best. The staff and teachers are always helpful and try to do everything they can to make school a great place.
I have 3 children and 2 are still at Lone Star and my oldest is now at Kirby-Smith. The scholl is wonderful and my son completed all advanced classes at Kirby-Smith with an A-B average. The school prepares the students well; parents need to reinforce the ideas taught during the day when they are at home. Teachers are not baby sitters. They educators. My children work hard for their grades. My son would have not excelled at Kirby-Smith if Lone Star did not prepare him as well as home reinforcement in study habits. The students that excel are the ones that most often have parents that care first and complain last. School is what you make it and each family has a part in whether their childs does well or not and it should not be put on the teachers.
Lone Star Elementary is definitely not for everyone! My child and I found the staff to be very unfriendly, un-informative, and displayed obvious favortism towards selected students. My daughters teacher were not very helpful in assure she understood her lessons while other classmates suffered the same issue.
Lone Star is a great school with incredible teachers. The PTA is very involved with the students. The Pta sponsors programs each month for the children, we have an annual Fall Festival. Our extended Day Program is phenominal. We have a Dad's club that is highly active in our school as well. The principal and vice principal are both incredible role models.
My child attened kindergarten through fourth. By third grade the school no longer provided assistance as they had done before (he is ADD)and I feel they just passed him along. We moved him to a private school through the McKay scholarship program and his fifth grade teacher not only taught him fifth grade work, but properly taught him what Lone Star skipped over for third and fourth grade work. This school is a magnet school, yet not once did I see anything in the way of Math and Science extra activities. I feel the Jax school system could do a much better job and has a lot of improving to do before they can even call themselves a decent teaching system.
This school has provided my children with an excellent elementry foundation. I would recommend it to anyone who has young children.
Our daughter has attended Lone Star since kindergarten and enjoys learning and likes her teachers. Her grades are very good and the teachers have a genuine heart to teach the students. It's a very good school.
