We just to moved to Jacksonville, so this is our first year at Enterprise. I am giving it a 3 because it seems to be hit or miss the education you receive based on the teacher you get. The new principal is unhelpful, unfriendly, and unorganized. The curriculum is behind compared to the neighboring districts. The administrative staff is nice, but so overworked, they are falling apart. Some of the teachers are outstanding, some are not. Communication is the scholl's major pitfall because they want help from the parents, but don't let you know what is going on. Best case scenario, you get an amazing teacher who communicates regularly. Worst case scenario, you get a teacher who doesn't seem to know what is going on, doesn't communicate, and your child falls behind or their needs gets ignored completely.
Horribly organized and care more about the grades than the kids education. I so agree with that!!!!. As most parents, I feel, the principal is very intolerant lady not open to dialogue. So impertinent that can be rude at times. The education is not up to par with schools that get B C or even D in other states. My son is a straight student, but I don't feel his education is any good!!!
We love ELA! They offer so many extra-curricular activities for children and families. Every month they have "Pizza and Practice" nights where you can go and learn more about what things your child is learning in a specific subject. I know they provide 30 minutes each day of individualized work/activity/tutoring. I think the teachers do a good job of trying to focus on my childrens' individual needs to help them when they struggle/challenge them when they need it. Last year they had an evening event where every classroom was a country and you could walk around and see all the things the students created through their learning of the country. They even gave you passports to carry around and have stamped by each teacher whose room you visited! We loved the Egypt room where my kids got to write their name using hieroglyphics and create paper pyramids! The Principal is my only complaint but they cycle them every 3-5 years so I'm not too worried about her being there much longer. Every school has it's challenges but I don't really think some of the previous comments were warranted. Maybe those families didn't know about or participate in any of the wonderful events that ELA offers?!
Horribly disorganized, care more about tests than the children's education. The principal Mrs Brown cares more about how she the school looks on the outside than what they are learning. My daughter came to that scho with a A-B average and left 3 yrs later after MULTIPLE teacher changes, with a C average. We moved and the school where we are at cares. Free tutoring, free supplies, great programs after and during school. Just a really positive learning environment. When and if we move back to Jax my children WILL NOT be going to ELA. I'd rather homeschool them. Oh and FYI - they only had one lockdown drill last yr and 4 fire drills. The office staff hates the principal. :( just a sad school.
I am extremily sad im going to 5th grade and my kindergarden teacher and one of my 1st grade teachers were good my writing 4th grade teacher rocks and i know im gonna miss my school when i go to lavilla or oakleaf
AWESOME SCHOOL! The whole staff is nothing but A+. This is my daughter's 4th year in attendance & I wouldn't have it any other way. Now I'm just nervous of the Middle School they are sent to.. THAT is another story...
I loved Enterprise Learning Academy up until this point. I love the school but this year my son has entered the 3rd grade and we are having a few issues: Communications issues; planning notebooks not being used by teacher to communicate with parents on a day to day basis.
I Think E.L.A is awesome! Sure, it's not a magnet school but it's great and excellent. When I moved there in the middle of the year I was scared but this school is nice. The teachers are friendly and the staff are friendly as well. It's also safe and if your worried about bullying here it's not a huge problem.
I love this school! This is my son's second year there and the teachers put forth so much effort on ensuring the children are safe and make learning fun! The only thing I would have to say is that there is not much parking. Other than that I am very pleased =)
I think E.L.A. is pretty good. Our 1st grader loves this school and her new teacher. She did have difficulty at the beginning of the year with her first home roo teacher ,but the Vice -Principle was able to assist us in moving her. I don't feel the principle is very helpful at this school. I also do not think one of the librarians is very patient with children. I help out from time to time at this school. My only other concern is the parking/pick-up. This school has no designated school zone on Middleburg road , so cars wil pass in front of the school at full speed while traffic is trying to feed onto Middleburg road from the school. It is very dangerous. I will say they have a good system in place for car riders , it is quick pick up.
So far my experience with the school has been a positive one. My only bad remark would be the parking. Some of the parents just park anywhere and I wish the school would be more organized with the parking situation when it is time for school to let out.
This is my kids' 2nd year at ELA. My son is in K and my daughter is in 4th. I have no complaints about their teachers whatsoever and niether do my children. I don't really know much about the rest of the faculty. I don't know the principal from the guidance counselor. Which in some ways is a good thing (i.e. my kids don't get into trouble). The problems I have with the school are: 1)The car riders circle which is a pain to go through, and can be quite dangerous especially after school. 2)The fact there is no school zone in front of the school is unbelieveable. If people weren't driving 40+ mph through there, it wouldn't be so dangerous to get in and out of the school. This is the first time I've ever seen or heard of a school without a school zone.
This is my daughter's second year in ELA and until now I don't know who's the principal. There is no communication, we don't know what's going on in school. My daughter's class has 30 kids. They said there would be 2 teachers but my daughter said the other one is not always there and that she's helping other class too. We're very unhappy with this school. They need to change their staff. Duval county needs to take care of this.
My son is getting ready to go into the 3rd grade. I have really been unhappy with the school since his first year, but kept thinking it would get better. Kindergarden was good, 1st was also good. 2nd has been horible. I am not sure if it is just the teacher, but there is no communication at all. I have been part of the PTA since my son started, this was the first year when there was absolutly no commuinicaton on when the meeting where taking place. I was not able to attend a single meeting. I would have loved to be more invloved, but could not so much as get a simple question answered, let alone find out what was going on. Very poor school. I will be looking for a new school for next year.
Although I believe the teacher have 100% heart put into the children, the rest of the faculty needs to get it together. VERY unhappy with how the school is run and how unorganized EVERYTHING is.
I have a child at ELA (his first year). His teachers, in my opinion, do not provide a very challenging work environment but are approachable. The before and after school program availability is poor. In my opinion there is unsatisfactory leadership from the principal. Not a very concerned support staff. I'm looking at another school for my child for the 2007-08.
Terrible teacher/parent communication. School lacking in numerous areas.
My daughter has attended ELA since first grade. She just began her 4th grade year. It seems like most of the teachers at the school are very dedicated and commited. Some teachers have been more knowledgable than others but I have been pleased overall with every teacher my daughter has had. Also, the new principal is so positive and she seems like she is trying to make the school a better place. One area the school needs to improve in is math.
I have been in this school since kindergarten in 2000. I am now going to 5th grade at this school and i have to say it is the best school i have ever seen!it makes me really sad to have to leave this graet school so soon. But all good things have to come to an end. I was in band in grade 3,choures 4, and im gonna join again in 5th. Although i have always thought that the school should have an open sports event to all the students. All of my teachers have always been very helpful!i have always had ideas to improve 'my' this school. And are new principal is very helpful!the school is always very clean, and with me becoming a safety patrol when we start school in 15 days i hope that i can cary on the grateness of this school with me. The kids at this school really respect the staff here at ela.
