Global Outreach Charter Academy is one of the best places I have ever worked. The team is awesome! Students are nice!
Very disappointed! Cafeteria has been made smaller to make room for extra classrooms making it so crowded for the children to eat. No talking in the only place that they were allowed to talk My children do not want to eat breakfast due to the chaos. A Good teacher was fired and as a result everyone in the class received a D/F on their first report card. I dont know if that was the curve or he forgot to put in the grades before he left. I might believe the grade if it was a math class but not Language Arts where my children have never had low grades in that subject.. the chaos in the beginning of the year with the rainy day proceedure.. Sometimes when things work, dont try to change it. Now , the rainy day proceedure is back to normal due to the chaos the change had caused. If i dont see a change soon I will definitely look elswhere for my children to attend school. Children need a release .No extra curricular activities. No Art or music or recess for them. Education is more than just pounding a child with academics all day.Education also includes building a child self esteem with extra curricular activities and socialization that in turn will make them a well rounded person.
Always fights. They don't do anything to get rid of the bullies they give them a warning and let them go. Teachers are rude and mean. They don't clean dishes in the cafeteria often, and the staff are useless. They don't listen at all
Global Outreach Charter Academy has a wonderful small learning environment for their students. Unlike the huge schools of Duval County, this school gives the students more opportunities for one-on-one or small group learning. The principal, Mrs. Anderson, is an excellent leader of GOCA. The staff is always encouraged by Mrs. Anderson to identify the needs of individual students in their classes, and work to help each child develop his or her own potential.
Its a great school in Jacksonville FL area. Everyone is very helpful and I would highly recommend this school!
I am mother that has three children that attend Global Outreach Charter Academy. My children feel very comfortable and safe in this school. The teachers at this school are always very open and ready to help me if i ever have any questions. My son required extra help and the teachers stayed with him before school and after school and tutored him, twice a week. I really appreciate what they do for the education of my children.
I wanted you to know how pleased we are to have our son attending this school! The school has the most effective teachers we have ever known. My son s teacher has such a warm, personable style that motivates him to do his best. I can see remarkable improvements and I know these things do not happen without a great deal of effort on the part of everyone, and I want you to know how much we appreciate your hard work. Not only the school is setting a high standard for other schools to follow but it has proved their commitment to meeting each student's specific needs. I just can t express how pleased we have been with this wonderful atmosphere! Can t wait to come back!
Wonderful school! It has so much to offer and all of the faculty are very friendly and professional! Would recommend it to everyone!
I have three children that are currently attending GOCA and it has really been a blessing. My children are reading above grade level and are learning russian. I am very pleased.
GOCA is a great little learning community that aims for high academic achievement and targets the needs of the students both socially and academically. So far, working with the team at GOCA has been an excellent and exhilarating experience!
Disorganized and building in disrepair. I know that money for repairs are hard to come by but, that is no excuse for the way the school looks inside and out. School work turned in is lost as well and information that parents need to help their kids succeed. I am glad that we are pulling out at mid term. I know that we will be happy with our new school. It could not be worst for this is the worst school any of my kids have been in.
There is no communication between administration, teachers and parents. The teachers and administration is very lacking in common curticy and how to deal with the kids and parents. It is so bad that I pulled my 3 kids out and we are very happy in our new schools. At the new schools the staff treat us as parents and not as kids.
This is a new school and i was suprised at the leaderships goals to make this school a positive staple in the community. So far I am very happy with my choice as I see the positivity that the leadership has about teaching its students.

This is my sons 2nd year at this school. We loved the first year but this year has been a nightmare. My son has came home with claw marks, and bruises. he has been hit, kicked pinched everyday all year.I have spoken with the Principle, His Teacher and the Dean of students but nothing is ever done about it :( Words cannot espress how much i dislike this school.I am also a very involved parent and my son is on honor roll and has maintained a A in conduct this whole year so no one from the Global staff who by the way are the ONLY ONES posting positive comments about this school can say my child is a problem or that he has an uninvolved parent .I feel very sad to have to write this as i was the one who wrote the first positive review. My advice is DO NOT send you child here!! MY son will not be returning.
No words can describe the outrageous conditions nor the way the children are treated. Lets just leave it at that.
Can you give a negative star rating. A fellow parent just told me about this site and I am about to spread the word. This has to be the worst school in JAX. So sad to see how unhappy the kids and teachers are. And we know if your kid is unhappy it reflects in the grades. Its is a junior jail. And the loud mouth in the lunch on the mike, please just get out of the school profession if you are going to act like that to the kids. It sounds so abusive, even the restraunt customers complain about her. The guy in charge needs to wake up and make some serious changes for the next year, if there are enough kids left to keep the school open. So many are not going to return next year, the only reason they are staying this year is because there is no room in any other schools. The high ratings must be from someone that gets paid to be at the school because parents and students do not praise this school at all.
No sports, No activities, No electives. They start the year with all these sign ups but then cancel the activities or club. Low academic grades, if the kids do not make the grade they curve it for the entire class. What ever the highest grade is suddenly becomes the new 100 and everyone else is bumped up so it is a good appearance. Distrust, there are so many lies told by the "Professionals" the parents and kids no longer trust any of them. Not a school for any Jacksonville family.
I find it funny that parents on this site really don't know how good their children have it at this school. Out of those parents that are trashing this school, how many of you actually took the time to come out there and talk to the teachers and see what is happening? I bet none of you. My children attend this school and I could not ask for a better staff or team of teachers. My children are in the middle school and I have never seen a more dedicated team of teachers. As far as I am concerned, if parents actually parented their students and taught them how to be respectful and act properly and not like monkeys, then there would be very few problems at the school. The problem is not the teachers, school, or the activities, it is the parents. Parents need to wake up and not just take what their children say, but actually get involved. This is the best middle school that I have ever experience. My children are excited to go to school every day. They love their teachers and enjoy the variety of clubs. As far as academics, this school is very rigorous. My children are educationally stimulated and are challenged every day. If kids do not want to learn, no one can force them. Be parents.
I would like to address the issue about teacher changes. It is true that the middle school students went through a lot of changes, however; the teachers are wonderful. Our children need to learn how to adapt to change and the teachers are doing an awesome job. I am constantly updated on my child's progress and the principal and the teachers are so open and willing to work with me and my child. I have seen students who were not acting properly and I have seen the teachers giving out consequences. I just think that some of the parents on this site are bitter because their children are not successful. Frankly, I think that these parents do not know how to parent and are afraid that their children have to work hard for once in their lives. The standards here are extremely high. Achievement is definitely a number one priority here and teachers provide all the tools in order for students to be successful. It is sad that parents cannot admit their mistakes and instead, they are blaming the school and the teachers. This school is wonderful and the environment is conducive to learning. If a child is being unsuccessful at this school, then the child is not seeking the help that is needed.
