I am a 7th grade studeheart sacred heart and I love it I am very blessed that my parents chose this school for me in the 5 th grade everyone was so nice to me and the teachers are mostly all AWSOME! It was a little hard to catch up with the work but I worked hard and with extra help now I am a A/B student and play every sport they offer. I was bullied in public school because I was "A" student . I could not be happier. I love it here :-)
I have never seen a more wonderful and safe loving envorimen. For my child sacred heart has been wonderful the best thing for my seventh grader. I don't think we will ever be able to find a place we could be happier. I have never seen more loving caring teachers and staff. I love that a wellbehaved and smart kids are the ones that are respected and popular . I think that says something about the children and parents and staff. I read some comments that unhappy parents wrote and would like to say all every school will have its problems but bad lunch menu and a few snobby moms is not a problem. If my child is in a safe loving envoriment and getting a great education I think I can look past a few pizza days andof we are Christian do we not think when we meet a ( snobby mom) we look for the good in people and what they might be going through at home same within children. With my two children I try to teach them to be nice to everyone no matter what and that have no one has been mean to them so far! Also 10 years since Snyder has been open sacred heart students are alway top of there class " check the statics " so I guess they are doing something right.
Currently, the largest class size in K-3 is 24 students and each K class has a full-time aide. No, there is no "gifted program" but most private schools do not offer such programs. The curriculum itself is typically above average. There is differentiated learning being taught at every grade level to address varied levels of student learning as well as learning styles. My son has thrived since moving to SH from another local Catholic school. The school provides a good, structured learning environment and an excellent spiritual one. Every Catholic school in this area administer the ITBS test , which is the standard for many Catholic schools. The socio-economic make-up at SH is extremely diverse and if anything, it is lower than most private schools and there does not seem to be a problem with "spoiled children". As for a teacher formerly being a "copy lady", it is possible to attend college and get educated to become a teacher. It would be a good idea to state facts rather than spread malicious and false information. If you are looking for a structured education in a strong Catholic environment, check it out and decide for yourself.
From Pre-K to 1st grade, it is repeat of the same curriculum. Class size from grades K-3rd is enormous! It is about 30-35 kids and an assistant that floats between the two classes. Because of the large class size, the teacher screams from the board and has no one on one time to check if each student understands what is being taught. There are NO programs for accelerated students. The school believes that by 3rd grade all the students will be at the same level. So, if your child is gifted and has a high IQ, he/she will suffer and be forced to regress rather than be given the opportunity to advance academically. Some of the teachers are not qualified to teach, given one used to be a copy lady. The most appalling thing about this school is that the Principal, Ms. O'neill, adamantly stated to me that children in Pre-K should NOT learn to read! Spiritually this school excels, academically it does not. There is not standardized testing to know how this school compares to other private schools. All the posts about snobby parents are true and their kids are spoiled as well. My daughter was made fun of because she didn't have the latest gadget! Best advice, look for another school.
My daughter who should be 7 grade after summer. I want to apply for her because she is in Hong Kong now. So please let me know how can I do if you don`t mind. I`m appreciate your kindly help. Thanks a lot!!!
I am very disappointed with Sacred Heart School. We are new to the school and there is no welcome parent/ student committee. They ask for volunteers but there is no followup to reach to the volunteers. The homeroom moms are snobbish which I thought they would be more welcoming. There is no updated website. The lunch menu is horrible. I am looking elsewhere for alternative schools.
I am disappointed with this school. The school doesnt t have an updated website. The lunch menu is horrible. The homeroom moms are snooty, and not very friendly. And this is supposed to be a Catholic school ? There is no welcoming committee for new parents and their chidlren to the school. I just dont feel my child is being challenged enough. I should have taken her cue when I asked her if she likes her school and she said, ' it's boring . ' I am considering in looking for another school.
I have one child at Sacred Heart presently, one has already moved on to Snyder and one still to attend. Sacred Heart is a wonderful school for academics and spirtual environment. The teachers try very hard to help the student in there day to day activities and I feel really want to help the student. My biggest complaint however would be the physical education area which is not an area they excel in. They have recently (2009 school year) hired a new athletic director which I hope will give this area a boost. Overall a great school that you should consider.
Excellent academic program! They really challenge the students to excel. Major opportunities for parental involvement. Lots of good recognition given to students for their grades. Highly recommend.
This school goes above and beyond to help their students. I have worked in the public school system for close to 30 years and I am so impressed in the amount of involvement that the administrators have in this school. Our grandchild goes to this school and he struggles academically. This year at Sacred Heart he is growing in confidence and academic abilities. I thank God we found Sacred Heart.
I am so blessed to have my daughters attend this school. They are gaining such a solid foundation in academics, social skills, and feel like a part of this huge wonderful family. This is a wonderful school.
I have two daughters that attend Sacred Heart School. They love it and so do I. We are blessed to be a part of the Sacred Heart Church and School family. -A Leech
I have 2 children (3rd and 5th grade) in Sacred Heart school and it by far is the best school in the diocese of St. Augustine. The teachers show a genuine concern for the academic and social development of the children and treat each child as a young adult. The principles know the parents, children, and even grand parents by name and make each child feel as if they are part of a large loving and caring academic family. The family values of trust, respect, responsibility and accountability are emphasized daily in the classroom and in extra curricular activities. Awards and recognition are frequent through out the academic year. My daughter's do not want to go anywhere else and are excited about going to school every day!
Sacred Heart is a wonderful school! I have two student who attend school there and I couldn't be happier with the education they are receiving. Sacred Heart has found the perfect balance.....they expect the best from their students and they give them their best in return. They are educated in a firm yet loving, compassionate environment and every student is made to feel special. I have heard from several educators outside of SH that the students going on to high school from SH are their best prepared students.....they have a solid education behind them and excellent organizational and study skills. I would highly recommend Sacred Heart.
This school is mostly concerned with the teaching of christ. This is a good thing and I want her to know and love jesus, but thats why we go to church on sundays. My daughter knows more about jesus than reading and writing. The teachers are very loving to all their students but I feel my daughter is not getting the academic support she needs to become successful in her years to come. She is always comming home with fundraising contests for the school instead of homework or tools for learning. They do have a music class and some fun activities for the kids, but I'm paying for her to learn and she is doing poorly. I give this school a 2 out of 5 rating.
Excellent school! I have one child in 6th grade and one that completed 8th grade. They are so ready for H.S. when they are finished at Sacred Heart
My 3 children are in 8th, 5th, and pre-K. Each child has grown and prospered in this atmosphere of strong academics and faith. Each child is treated as an individual. The faculty & staff exceed my expectations. I would highly recommend Sacred Heart School for an enriching and well-rounded education.
Hello I am a parent of a child that goes to Sacred Heart. I think this school is not very involved with their students. Very often my child comes home crying because they are constantly yelling at my child for no apparent reason. I would not recomend this school because it is not at all what I expected it to be.
I currently have three children at Sacred Heart, seventh, third and Kindegarten. The classes are age appropriate with the correct amount of homework. The school reinforces the values that may children have been taught at home. I highly recommend this school to others and have friends take my advice. Those friends have not been disappointed.
