This is my family's first year at MCS and we have fallen in love. I have never known teachers at schools we attended previously who were as helpful and accommodating as those at MCS. The concern they have for their students is genuine and they continually go above and beyond to ensure success. Dr. Threadcraft clearly has his finger on the pulse of the school. We feel as though we're part of a warm community when we arrive every day.

I attended Mandarin Christian School from second to twelfth grade. I am in my first year of college and I could not feel more prepared. MCS helped me learn how to succeed in every environment. Not only did I get accepted to every college I applied to, but after my first semester in college, I earned straight A's! I know that if I had grown up in a different school, this would not have been possible. The teachers are great. Everytime I visit the school, all of my teachers ask how I am doing. They still care about their students well after they have graduated! It's a nurturing and challenging environment. As long as the student is ready for it, the teachers will help them. The school may have many flaws, but every school does. I am always thankful for the opportunities I have because of MCS.

Great School - Great Staff --- New families have remarked how this feels like the 'right' place to be. Proud to be an MCS family. Reading through some of the remarks below, grammar, punctuation and phrase would seem to indicate that the negative messages are likely coming from one or two individuals that collaberatively have an axe to grind... what fruit of the spirit can come from negative dialogue? I hope that any nay-sayers are blessed if they feel the need to move on.

Change isn't always easy, but it is sometimes necessary for growth. Classic 'change model' behavior is clearly evident in some of the responses already posted. It's unfortunate that people look for negative without taking the time to understand facts. Our new headmaster has handled quite a bit of adversity with class and aplomb... I'm happy to have our kids challenged to grow and learn in a way that brings out the best in each child spiritually, physically, and mentally... It's a great environment that will bring out the best for our kids as future leaders. The staff IS awesome and energized... BTW - HOMEWORK IS A FACT OF LIFE AND HELPS TO ESTABLISH A GOOD WORK ETHIC. Thanks Again MCS -

Best principals around! Awesome teachers! Aamzing staff! Wonderful Fine Arts and electives. Sports program is growing, not the best for those who are serious about playing at a college level. I think the leadership is weak in that area. Cafeteria not too bad, could be better but not much for Rosita to work with, definitely NOT her fault! She's amazing. Not crazy about the new head guy, could be the breaking point for us, honestly. The high school was pretty great last year, wonderful teachers, students seem much more out of control this year. Maybe if busniess office was on campus that would be seen? Great staffers! Trying to sound more positive and less negative but we aren't very happy this year. too much homework. Love the facilities guys! They are always willing to help! Great Christian leadership should be expected, feel they missed the boat as well.

Thanks to Dr Threadcraft enrollment is up, academic standards remains, the atheletic program has improved, the girls Volleyball team came in 2nd in the regionanl playoffs, the boys football programs JV/Varsity will finish high in district and conference ranking for the first time in MCS history (varsity team is 7-3). The Basketball team is projected to be a district leader and baseball is slated to win it all. I am excited about about my school, especially during these troubling times. MCS is my second family and i can do all things through christ (phil 4:13).

I've never seen a school where not only can you not find the headmaster, his assistant is part time?!?! Not there at drop off or dismissal. Very nice lady but it makes no sense at all! Where is the school board? How many people applied for the headmaster position? Was this the best we could do? This man does not set the example of a godly man in his words or actions. I feel a tension in the air that was never there before. Staff look unhappy and are on edge. We won't be back. Sadly MCS made a huge mistake because I hear many families stating the same thing. the arrogance in the main leadership is apparent. I've been at MCS for years and was one of the biggest cheerleaders for them on here but now, I'm not comfortable with my kids there.

MCS has potential, but really missed the boat when they hired Dr. Threadcraft. He lacks spiritual leadership and it is quite obvious when he opens his mouth. We are hanging out one more year to see if the leadership opens their eyes and finds someone new. Next fall - if he stays, we leave.

I have pulled all three of my children from MCS. We started in elementary school and when they made it to middle school to play sports this is when the disappointment set in. MCS has a long way to go before the athletic department is successful. I believe some changes in the administration would be a big help. I love this school and would like to see changes made to the athletic department. Then we probably would consider coming back.

I moved my kids from public school to MCS for the academics not the sports program. MHS have a talent pool of about 750 athletes out of 3000 students. Only about 3% plays at the collegiate level. MCS have about 30 true student athletes to choose from out of 114 highschool studentsand those athletes play 2-3 sports. MCS has coaches that have played college, professional coached highschool and professional sports. This coming school year there will be athletes that transfer or return to MCS because of the improvement of the sports program. I read these reviews alot andmy suggestion is if you have a complaint about MCS, along with the complaint offer a suggestion to make it better.

I have 3 children who attend this school. My oldest son has been there for 7 years. The teachers love and pray for our kids every day. You will not find a more caring and attentive staff at any school, here or abroad. And I have complete and total faith in the administration and trust their decisions without question. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel like you belong. From my experience here, the only thing lacking are the sports programs/coaching.

I was impressed with the steps our staff took when they held an all school yard sale just to raise money for financial aid to help keep families at our school during a hard financial time. Most schools would have used that money for their everyday budget, but our school cares about the families that attend and THAT is exactly why we're there. Factor in the high level curriculum and the Godly teachers, and you have a school that is second to none in the Jacksonville area.

I love this school. I can't imagine sending my kids anywhere else. GREAT teachers, great academics, great opportunities. While public schools are cutting fine arts and PE, MCS is expanding in those areas!!! So important for our kids...

I thave 3 childen attending MCS. Two in the elementary school and one in middle school this year and high school next year. We have been part of MCS for 8 years and I could never imagine leaving. The most wonderful, loving, staff, and teachers around. High quality acedemics and postive Christian atomosphere is what makes MCS so special. I would not want my children any other place!

I was just reading the other reviews and noticed that someone wrote that marketing wasn't really doing anything and they saw nothing that screams MCS. I find that to be inaccurate as I see MCS ads and information all over Jacksonville. I've seen our ads in local newspapers on several occasions, as well as actual articles written about our school. This is the very reason I even found out about the school. I was just coming to this site to boast about the leadership and teachers of our school. As a fairly new family to MCS, one that has been to a total of 3 other schools before MCS, I can say that this is a special place. The leadership has evident hearts for Christ, and the teachers are phenomenal. I'm eager to see where our new Headmaster will take us.

MCS offers a strong curriculum that is challenging for my son. In this society of 'teaching to the FCAT', crude behavior in the public schools, unqualified teachers whose tenure secure their jobs, we are blessed to have the opportunity for a real education. The public schools and many of the private schools in Jacksonville are just plain sad. The small class size is hard to beat and the teachers are like none I've seen before - caring, dedicated and competent. I recently read that it is not a requirement for private schools to ensure teacher certification, but after researching our own school, I found that all MCS teachers are certified and beyond! We love this school!

We had a great year at MCS this year. My child's teacher was very involved and was helpful with a specific problem we dealt with at the beginning and middle of the year. After talking with friends who have children in public schools, I'm so glad we made a decision to send our child to a Christian School. The Fine Arts department is top-notch and has more options/variety than most other schools in this area. MCS - you're doing great!

I'm so thankful for a school with teachers and leaders who are grounded in God's word, and making it a priority to instill that on my children. After watching an incredibly special inaugural senior graduation last week, I have a renewed sense of excitement at the future my children have in this school. This is an awesome, God-centered school and my family couldn't be happier. Highly recommended!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
