Develops character: Strongly agree

We work together to make every student reach their full potential.

Teacher effectiveness: Strongly agree

Hardest and most effective team I have ever worked with. Ratios are 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1 so there is lots of time and opportunities for learning ALL day long.

Amount of homework: Strongly agree

Weekly target sheets (goals) are sent home so parents know what we are working on. It is the parent’s discretion how much they work with their child at home.

Handles bullying effectively: Strongly agree

Never seen a bully or had any issues with bullying

Supports LD students: Strongly agree

Research shows Applied Behavior Analysis reduces inappropriate behavior and increases communication and appropriate social behavior. It is ABA all day at The Jericho School!

Effective school leaders: Strongly agree

An amazing leadership team led by an education director and director that are devoted to make Jericho the best it can be. They give endless support to all the staff so that everyone is successful.

The Jericho School has been serving Jacksonville for over 20 years. I am very proud to be at a school that has had many families come from all over the country for our services. We are known to accept students that are very challenging – many that have not had educational success and/or progress at other schools. The Jericho School has NEVER been for profit. We put our students’ progress and needs above anything else. The teachers are truly dedicated to their students and strive every day to make sure those same students reach their full potential. The staff (teachers and leadership) work extremely hard as a team to make a difference and improve the lives of their students and, in turn, the lives of their families as well – that is our true mission.

I am proud to say I am currently a teacher at the Jericho School! I have worked at other schools and in other ABA setting and cannot express how happy I am to have found Jericho. It is a smaller school with an amazingly helpful staff that really works together as a team towards the common goal, the children. We are constantly bouncing ideas off each other for different and creative ways to teach new skills and promote learning. We also work together to implement the right plan for each child. As a private non-profit school they focus on each student’s needs and not about the money they are making. They do year round fundraising to offset student cost and they also provide FREE training a few times a year for anyone in the community that might need it. The director provides us, all new staff, with extensive training before we even enter the classroom. Once in the classroom there is support from an assigned mentor, team leads, our education director, the director, and a BCBA consultant who is there at least once a week. The pay might not be the best you can find but the staff is definitely the hardest working compassionate and supportive team you will ever find!

I have been at the Jericho School for a few years. I am proud to be at a school that is widely known for being one of the best schools in the country for children with autism. Staff are well trained and dedicated to helping children with autism. As a non-profit school Jericho puts student progress over profits. I am pleased everyday to see the passion that all my fellow teachers have and the team atmosphere that has been created at this school. I am not sure about the one person who gave a review below that said they were a teacher, possibly they were talking about a different school, or they do not work for the school anymore.

Teacher effectiveness: Agree

As usual, the teachers, The people down there in the trenches with our kids, are underpaid and most likely under appreciated but do the best they can. Most of them seem to love the kids and have good communication with the parents.
