Even though I'm new to the school as a 7th grade student i know we are going to have a great school year.
Kirby is a great school it has taught me a lot of respnsiblity i learned to do homework without being asked by my parents and kirby may not be the cleanist school on earth but i became a better student athlete and person because of Kirby Smith Middle School. Thank You Kirby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Kirby Smith a a school in general is great, and so is most of the staff but, i have found some negative experiences with some teachers.
This was my son's first experience in public schools. He entered KSM in the eigth grade and we were very nervous at first, especially since he has special needs. However, I have to say that it was a great experience nad we/he absolutely loved this school! We were so impressed with the teachers/staff, from the pincipal down. It was the best school year experience that my child has ever had and we hate that he is graduating this year. The teachers and staff were attentive to his needs and for the first time ever, they made him feel like he had something of value to share/say. He has thrived in this school like no other school that he has ever attended. And although there are occassional fights, he has felt safer here than in previous private schools that he attended. When they say 'Zero tolerance' to bullying, they mean it. Mrs. Marshall is a great principle. Two thumbs up for KSM!
Im in 7th grade and im in mr gee's homeroom. I absolutly love kirby smith! The teachers are very nice and supportive. I am currently in cheerleading abd i am loving it everyday! Thank you Kirby Smith!
I have to admit 6th grd was tough, teachers trying to get the students into shape, unreal expectations of students, but it seemed to work once we got thru it. The reamaining years have been amazing. Good disipline, fair, teachers supportive, approachable, really care, realistic expectations. Mr Ohman and Ms. Mills are the most amazing teachers. The teachers will lead you down the right path, but the choice is still yours. It has been a wonderful experience and I hate to see us leave for High School.
I graduated from Kirby in 2008-2009 and I have to say the school is a little dirty. The teachers there are great though. Some honorable mentions are Mrs. Reed, Mr. Broussard, Mr. Vail, and Mr. Ohmann
Before my niece started at Kirby, we were really worried because we hadn't heard many 'good' things about the school. Thank Goodness we relied more on our faith than rumors because Kirby is the best thing that has ever happened to my niece. She loves going to this school and her grades have improved tremendously. She even made the AB Honor Roll this semester and she hadn't done that in years. The principal and the teachers are awesome and she loves to learn. She hated math at Susie Tolbert but now loves it. I love that the young men aren't allowed to wear sagging pants and have MUST tuck in their shirts. They look like young gentlemen in the hallways. There is so much good going on at this school and I pray that her next next two years are as great as the first.
When we were looking for a middle school, we were so impressed with the 6th Grade Science teacher. There really are SOME good teachers here...but then there are others who seem to think that the students should be teaching themselves. The students ask for help and are told the teachers don't have time to talk to them or give them help. 'Look it up on the internet' even! It's difficult to get the teachers to communicate and often seems like no one really cares. It's a shame because the curriculum and the 'feel' of the school is great. Just could use some teachers who actually care to help the students succeed. We've already told our next child that we'll think twice before letting him go there...
I am a student at Kirby smith middle school and I have to say I am really impressed. The school could be a bit cleaner and there are a few fights now and again but the electives and classes that Kirby smith offer greatly outweigh the few minor cons. Overall Kirby smith has been a good school, my only other complaint is that the dress code is a bit harsh but other than that this is a great school. I recommend this school to anyone that has a interest in technology.
I have a 6th grader and he barely passed the 5th grade. I'm so proud to say that he is doing great in Kirby. The teachers care and my son is learning so much. I'm glad he is attending.
I passed 6th grade but the year that i went to Kirby was horrible. there were many fights and it is a very dirty environment.
i am a student at Kirby smith i am going into the 8th grade this will be my 3rd year here and i would like to say it is a great school but true there are fight the kids who do fight get into a lot of trouble also being in advance classes the work is hard but if you really care for your life don't slack of the way i did trust me in not fun.
i might not have passed the eighth grade but it was a fault all on my own. i wouldn't blame the teachers there for anything. every group of teacher i had for all three grades were amazing; caring, funny, relate-able, everything that defines an excellent teacher. if you're going to send your child to this school, then by all means, do it. there are hardly any fights and the administrators, despite my few run-ins with them, know what they're doing and keep everything in check. the extra-curricular activities are diverse and provide an environment for practically anyone's interest. it's hard not to find a circle of friends here. i'll miss mrs. reed and mr. vail the most. <3
The teachers and staff at Kirby-Smith are good and caring but as far as the administration they lack leadership skills and do not provide little safety for the students.
I am a student and i will like to say that kirby smith is one of the most eductional schools around. The teachers help you alot and its real fun to actually learn what their teaching because they break it down in a fun but educational way!!! from:student s07752116
My child loves Kirby-Smith, the teacher are dedicated and all students are expected to learn whether they are in standard, or advanced. The expectations are high, and the teachers went above and beyond to work with my child
