Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary School

My child was blessed to be placed in Mrs. Meadow's class (with Mrs. Love). They have done a wonderful job teaching my daughter. The Principle is a joke. She is almost never there. The ladies in the front office are very welcoming and sweet. I agree that the car riders drop off/pick up is a big problem. That is mostly due to rude parents that don't follow the rules though and have zero consideration for other parents. I have a child entering kindergarten next year and one going into first grade but I enrolled them into a charter school down the road. Until that principle is replaced - that school will not flourish.

I have to say I am disappointed in the lack of leadership given by the principal. She does not care at all about the children and is very rude and disrespectfull to the children and parents. I will not enroll my child in this school next year because of the principal. I love my child's teachers. He has two teachers because the class has at least 30 kids at one time if not more. Mrs. Love and Mrs. Meadows are the light in that school that gives hope to those who are fed up with the principal.

I wish they would get together ..The school year is almostr over and we are still having trouble with car riders , dropping off and picking up are still a big problem .. If you have more than one kid at more than one school you are never on time . Tre whole system needs a overhaul..

I'm a parent of a special needs student and we found this school to be lacking and the staff inept. Our son in the course of attending this school has been shuffled around treated disrespectfully and in overall abused.The teachers allow the classroom to be a glorified daycare, the therapists mostly inept and refuse to work with children( this year they managed an awesome Speech teacher)It's a fight to have the proper care and needs met for your child.They have also allowed my son to get up and leave not only the classroom but the school grounds. Too many times they have called telling me they can't 'deal' with my son and I need to come get him. Forget any help from the principal, Mrs.Christopher only cares about looking good and keeping things as quiet as possible, she doesn't even care about the kids in the ESE classes.

My son has been at this school for 2 years. I absolutly love this school the teachers are great the activities are great. I have nothing bad to say about hogan spring glen and my son will continue to go to this school as long as he can. As a parent i worry about my sons well being at all times and with him going to this school i can feel secure that my son is ok and safe. He has good techers and staff around him they all comunicate well with me as a parent and do everything they can for the children in this school. The one thing that i think can be done is that the parents step up and take responsibility at home for there childrens success. It is not all the schools responsibility it is ours as parents to tech the same. Lacey whittington

Having had a child in Hogan Spring Glen for the past two years, we were very excited for our second child to be starting this year. HSG has some of the most wonderful caring teachers and support staff around! Unfortunately, with the change in leadership at the beginning of the year (new principal) all of that excitement turned to remorse. The principal s attitude toward teachers, staff, students and parents has been less than respectful. Volunteers have been made to feel they are not needed or wanted. The principle has gone so far as to ban people from volunteering until she was corrected by her boss. What was once a wonderful community school has turned into a place that neither students nor teachers want to be. We are pulling our children out and will find an alternative solution.

Hogan used to be a warm, loving school where the children were valued, the parents encouraged, and the teachers respected. Unfortunately, things have changed drastically this year. The principal is an ineffective leader. My child was referred to the guidance counselor for learning problems in October and I have yet to hear back even after persisting. The teachers are obviously trying to do the best of a horrible situation.

As a parent of 3 children who have attended Hogan I am saddened to say that I have had to watch the demise of what was once a wonderful school.I have been made to feel like an outsider and unwelcome by the principal herself.I have also received no assistance or 'guidance' from the guidance counselor.I have witnessed the morale of the teachers plummet,parent volunteers diminish and children's education suffer.It saddens me that those in a position to make a change before the damage is irreversible have turned a blind eye.We have already lost many great teachers and families that have been at the school generations..including my own.Something needs to be done before the few teachers left are pushed away as well.

My oldest child graduated from this school 2 years ago and just made Junior National Honor Society in 7th grade at an academically talented magnet school. Needless to say, she had great teachers at Hogan. My second child should have been graduating from this school this year but due to the Principal we got this year, I had to move him on 'Special Assignment' to another school. This school was the best with great teachers and staff. It is a shame what a bad principal can do to a school and the lack of help from the school district. The Extracurricular activities have been cut and parent involvement is minimal due to the principal chasing people off. This was once a great school. How times have changed!

Time certainly changes things! We are having a very bad year since we have been assigned a new principal. Communication is non-existant at this school. Thank God the teachers are good or the children would really be suffering.
