My son went to Kindegarden here and I pulled him out after that. He complained of the lady in the cafeteria screaming at him and others just not friendly. When I would volunteer for field trips or visit the front office for any reason, they were extremely rude and unfriendly to ME the parent. So I can only imagine how they would treat a child. I would not recommend anyone attend this school.
I really like this school. My son joined the school in the second grade and is now going into the 5th there. My daughter is starting Kindergarten this fall. The teachers and staff are great!
the faculty was very nice they gave me alot of help with my son i think i picked a great school this time.
I just read a review from 2007 about teachers being hard on kids and making them cry. It is now 2009-2010 school year and I just witness the same attitude from some teachers there. And the lady from the office with long grayish hair, who also works in the cafeteria yells at the children in the cafeteria very rudely. I've seen children cry from her. I have viewed the principal and vice prin. as positive attitudes.PLEASE monitor the teachers and other workers attitude it can cuz anger as well as sadness!!
This school is making great strives. I am very pleased with the teachers ability and willingness to work with the students..
I was concerned to send my child to windy hill as i have heard things about the school that didnt please me ... however after going to the school and meeting with her new teacher and the new guidance councelor for this year i felt 100% at ease. Ms Brown is a 2nd grade teacher who has been with the school for years and my daughter absolutely loves her. Her teaching style from what i observed is very singled out. She works with all the children one on one and is very patient(more patient than i would be :) Alot has changed since last year and i view these changes as good
Windy Hill is a really good school. The teachers that I have worked with seem to also understand that all kids don't learn the same. They take each 'individual' child into consideration.
I am a Grandparent. My Grand-Daughter is in Kindergarten. I have witnessed several occasions resulting in teacher actions causing these younger children to cry and feel unable to perform at a more confident level. I believe this teacher is much too hard on the students, and am concerned that the children's future memories of this year will stay with them for quite a while. We will not be attending Windy Hill next school year. Submitted by a very concerned Grandparent.
Windy Hill is a good school with the potential to be a great one. There are many areas the school can improve but I believe our Principal has the vision and drive to make our grade reflect our Altitude. I believe Windy Hill can be a great school if more parents would take more of an interest in the school and their children. All great schools have strong PTA/PTO. Windy Hill falls short in this area. We, as parents, cannot put our children education in the hands of the school only. It must be a joint effort, Parents and Teachers working together.
Windy Hill is under new administration and most of the changes are great. Many parents had a hard time adjusting but, the school is a safer environment for the kids. If parents have a problem with the school they should get more involved so they can make suggestions for more change or they realize that the changes are good. There are many ways to get involved and by joining the PTA a parent can be involved and sometimes included in the change process or at least have a voice. Get to know your child's teacher, volunteer in the library, or join the PTA before judging the school. You will also find that there are already many parents involved but it's always the same ones. We need new faces.
I am concerned about the level of information the staff has when it comes to ESE students. I was told a very disturbing piece of information in reference to my son's mental capability before tests were given, they made this assumption off of a year old IEP, and I had to prompt them to perform current tests to better evaluate my son. I feel that the staff should fully inform themselves of a students capability and academic skills before making assumptions, especially before going to the parent with the information.
This school is under new administration. There have been many positive and negative changes. Security at the school as been improved. I feel my child is safe when she goes to school. However, many 'extra' activities are not happening this year. My daughter misses having the extra opportunities.
The teachers do not really help teach the students work and what is expected. I find the parents are having to do alot of what is supposed be learned in the classroom. I feel they do not spend too much time teach the children so the know what to do. This is a low quailty school and I think I will turn to a private school next year.
Wonderful school. Great parental involvement. They encourage reading by having bingo/reading nights. The teachers are excellent. They push the kids to do better than they can.
Windy Hill is a great school. The teachers really care about the students.. my kids love it! I only wish they offered more extracurricular activities.
