I have had horrible experiences with this school. The people in the office treat you as the ugly step child. They never get up to help a parent that walks into the office. We have to scream from desk to desk. I have recently moved and needed my sons report card due to we moved out of key west early on coast guard orders. The attitude of the person on the phone was just terrible. I tried to get answers and none were given to me, I will no longer deal with stupidity. The new school that my son is going to will call them, and show them how a REAL school is supposed to perform. No parent should be treated the way I was today!

I would say this school is the best school for my child. Last year at her old school and now she has so many friends and now has very excellent grades on her fcat.

I had recently moved here a year ago. My child had a score of 1 on the FCAT at her old school for the last two years and at the end of HOB school year 05-06, she had a 3 on the FCAT test. The teachers at HOB are awesome! I love the ability to look up grades and anything that is missing far as school work. This year 06-07, the e-mails sent to me concerning homework, I just can't explain how nice and in tune I feel with the teachers!

I have had two children attend HOB (the school's nickname). I feel that the school is overcrowded and understaffed. The quality of education possible at HOB is great but the result is less than desirable. This is due to teachers who work in substandard classrooms with little or no budget for educational materials. They live in a location where holding two jobs is necessary just to pay rent. The teachers in Key West are not paid enough money - period! They must wait tables or stock shelves at night. The good news is that the middle school band is a wonderful program. The teacher (Ms. Dallas) is strict (but that's OK) she has a lot of students to prepare for high school band. Sports are a plus at HOB - but your kid better get into baseball or football here or high school may not take them.

This school is pretty good. The math department is a bit weak though. Teachers in that department are just not willing to provide help nor are their teachings very good. The band is the best I have ever been in though with one teacher who knows how to teach and actualy teaches. The school is pretty clean and well kept up also. I would recomend this school If you are in that area but then again you really have no other choice but Sugarloaf which would depend on which one you live closer too.

We were pleasantly surprised by H.O.B., as we had heard negative things about the school. Our daughter has adjusted beautifully and is excelling academically. She is sufficiently challenged.
