Highlands Elementary School Staff and teachers are very polite and the communication amog the teachers and me as a parent can not be any better. They encourage my son to not only meet but exceed goals. Great Job HES.

My daughter currently attend to highlands elemantry Kindergarten I have no regret of her attending to that school she already knows how to read and she really love her teacher.

Highlands Elementary is a school where the teachers really care about students. More parent involvement would benefit the school greatly.

I feel that the majority of the teachers don't spend enough time with your child to give them the quality of help our children need. It takes them way to long to notice if your child is hurting academically!!!! my child has been a student there four 2 years & now they are just begining to notice he is having difficulty in reading math & other areas when I told them personally lastyear that I saw him struggling even gave them a sphyc assesment & they still haven't gotten him the help he needs. I wish I knew of a better school to put him in I don't know to much about the schools in kissimmee. In n.Y. The education is so different from here!!!!

I am completely dissatisfied with this school. The upper grade teachers spend more time assigning, than teaching. After a few observations, I noticed the lack of teaching within the classroom. The students appear to be 'On their own.' Disorganization, on behalf of the administration, is also to blame. I believe teachers have to put forth more effort in the classroom.

We are not happy with the teacher/student education. Too many students and not enough teachers.

My son and stepdaughter have been attending Highlands since kindergarten and my daughter has just enrolled in the pre-k program this year. I am a working mother who is also enrolled in college, but I have had the opportunity to spend time in the classroom and also talk with quite a few teachers and staff as well. Courteous, polite, helpful and always putting the children's needs first. Parent involvement may be lacking, but not for lack of trying on the school's part.I can't say enough good things about this school. The only complaint that I have is the disorganization of student pick-up and drop-off. Construction is underway to correct the problem, however, there needs to be a better plan to incoming and outgoing traffic. The flow of traffic seems to be the problem, especially after school. One way in, one way out, and no left turns would keep the traffic flowing so much better. There are too many cars parked on the side of the street from parents who wish to avoid the traffic jam, but are only helping to contribute to the problem.

My daughter is currently in the first grade at Highlands and my son will by entering kindergarten next year. I am confident that the school is a safe place (thanks to Officer Fred) and the teachers seem to genuinely care about all their students. There is a lacking in parent involvement, though. Volunteerism is very small and its usually the same parents all the time. They need a PTA(O) or some sort of rally for community involvement.
