Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son has attended Bellalago Academy since kindergarten and is now going into 5th grade. This is a really good school. The teachers are wonderful and really do strive to give their students the best possible education. The principle, Mrs. Honeycut, provides strong leadership. The administrative staff in the front office has always been kind and courteous. I know all this because I volunteer their at least once a week, sometimes twice. It may not have all the programs that some people who move from other areas are use to, but I feel those comparisons are unfair. We know funding for many of these programs are up to the schools because the county only provides for the essentials. So my advice, quit complaining, get involved in our PTA and help out and let your voice be heard. I hear all these complaints but when it't time for the PTA meeting or events only the regulars show up. Also, learn what programs the school does offer and take advantage of those, because this school does have some really good ones.

We need that Bellalago make programs for parents and students; and organize culture and academy events with parents participation.

My daughter has been going to Bellalago since she was in Kindergraten and she is now entering 5th grade. We've never had any issues with either staff or students. If the teacher or administration thinks anything is going on or about to happen, parents are contaced. Her teacher was concered about a situation that happened one day and while it wasn't directly toward my daughter, she was there. Her teacher made sure he spoke to me, he called my job number, my cell number, my home number and emailed me. He didn't stop until we spoke. She is always looked after whether in school or extended day. For me this school is like a small community where everyone knows each other and looks out for one another. I'm so happy that she will remain in this school until she's in the 8th grade.

My granddaughter is a second grader in Mr. Marcinak's class. She has always made the AB honor roll... She was one of the students involved in the karate van accident right before Thanksgiving break. Some of the teachers and the principal visited the hospitals where the kids were taken and then the principal called my daughter the next day as well.... When school started back after the break, they called all the kids in together so they could talk about their concerns and fears. My graddaughter was quite traumatized by the accident and to be able to express herself to someone other than me or her mom, was very helpful. I have been at the school only one time since I live in Orange County, but my experience was very good. My granddaughter loves her school and her teacher this year

This is my daughter's first year at Bellalago Academy, the experience have been great overall; her teacher Mr. Marciniak has been great with her, she's learning a lot from him.... The staff and everybody, they're great responsible people. I don't know if in the future I'll change my mind, but up today.... GREAT SCHOOL.....

Bellalago Academy is one of the BEST Schools I've ever been associated with. I am a Grandma with 5 granchildren, 3 of whom have gone to Bella. The Music dept, Chorus with Mike Ortiz and Band with Eric Troop has made such a difference in my two granddaughters. The Principal, Mrs Honeycutt is an outstanding educator and rules the school with a loving but firm hand. I have encouraged several parents to enroll their children in this exemplary school. I cannot stress enough the caliber of education this school supplies to our children. My grandson started kindergarten with Crystal Ortiz and has been on the A-B honor roll every 6 weeks and he is now in 3rd grade. I am at a loss as to what else could be said except that I LOVE this school and am so very glad my grandchildren have the chance to attend.

I have been going to this school for around 8 years now and I would NOT recommend this school for any parents thinking of sending their child here. The teachers here a quite rude and the students,The students say very nasty things to those who "don't fit in" and they use very nasty words to other's,The teachers dont give ANY discipline to their students, they only send them to other teachers or sometimes give them a detention, they send a boatload of homework, and expect you to finish them in one night! The only good thing about this school is probably how easy it is to zone out, because the teachers could be very boing, although the student can be a tad bit annoying... They barely prep the students for the F-CAT; I wish this school could give more discipline to the student and perhaps the teachers could be more nice. Overall, don't send your child to this school, because everyone at this school are very rude. My apologies if the majority of this didn't make sense :P

We moved to Kissimmee one year ago from El Paso TX because I was in the US ARMY, and this is, by far, the worst school I have ever seen. There is no extracurricular activities, there is no interest for the students, students spend half of the class doing homework, and there is no structure or discipline in the classroom. The teachers have little or no interest on the academic advancement of the student. Very disappointed, moving my sons to a different school for next school year.

Absolutely horrible. They seem to have no care for the students. They take forever to respond to requests. Orange County was so much better. Office staff is unprofessional. Not a school I would personally choose for my child. Expected a lot more from this particular Charter School.

The front office receptionist couldn't have been any ruder to me. I asked to see the principal as it took 2 and a half hours to enroll my daughter in her first day of school there even though she had all necessary paperwork. Instead of the principal I was "greeted" by the principal's secretary who also gave me attitude and asked me to " be patient" I think 2 and a half hours to enroll your child is being VERY patient! Last week I called to report a bullying incident my daughter was witness to and was told my daughter would be questioned about what she witnessed NOT I had to call the school again and report it to the district to get them to do something about it ridiculous. Today I tried to call the school for an hour & a half no one picks up they finally picked up the phone at 9 o clock " they are too busy in the morning" then that got changed to " there was a phone issue". Parents dropping off and picking up in the Walgreens, Publix and Mcdonalds parking lot daily so they don't have to wait in the car line. A child got hit last week in Walgreens because of this this school needs a major overhaul!

My family moved to Kissimmee last year. It took over a week to get a schedule and he didn't have books through the first week. Bullying is a huge problem. The administration does not return phone calls or emails(I had to get the State Board involved in one issue). Trying to keep track of your child's progress is impossible. We can only check thier homework on-line, yet the teachers are 2-3 weeks behind. The students spend half of the class doing "homework"(shouldn't they be learning?). Most teachers will teach some of the class in Spanish. I guess my expectations for a Charter school were much higher. My son will be entering the 7th grade, and the school is well below the state average(FCAT). Oh, and by the way, if you can ever get a parent-teacher conference scheduled, don't expect much. The teachers get too defensive and question you the parent for your concern. Makes no sense. If you are a parent looking for attentive teachers, reachable administrators, and an excellent education than Bellalago Academy should not be your first or second choice. We are less than two weeks from school starting and the website isn't even updated. That should say it all.

Wow what a coincidence! My daughter has been going to this school since 2009 too. She was always a "A" student! But here her grades goes down. After months of a deep investigation (by my self) I found she was victim of bully from diferent students. At the bus, at the school. I talked to different liders at school without a real help...other than..."hey, don't pay attention to those student!"...But what was the cherry on the top? The chorus teacher don't have the hability and knowledge to deal with student! Instead, he made my daughter's semester more hard..doing the same. I hope he changes his way, stop disturbing students who are not their favorite group and understand that his job is to help students NOT to make their life more difficult! He has just become a father. Life has planted and harvested. He should think a little more in their future generation...God bless your son when he gets to school!

I have had nothing but great experiences with the school! The teachers are some of the best I have ever seen and the Principal is always willing to speak with me. It is evident that the people who work there truly have a love for the kids. The parents who are complaining should probably look at the actions of their own students and quit blaming them on the school.

My daughter has been going to this school since 2009. She is a straight A student but the school has changed. There is a huge bully problem there. I know numerous parents who have the same problem. Here is an example, while in chorus class an after school activity my daughter was scratched on her arm and spit in her face. She tried to tell the teacher and he would not listen. The result after talking with the teacher and I quote "I don't care" If you can send you children to an other school send them to one that does not tolerate bullying of any kind. This is a nationwide disease which is a very sad thing. One positive note. My child's teachers have really been good over the past 3 years. My daughter passed the FCAT with a 4 which reflects on her teacher.

If there were zero stars, I would put it. We moved from SC 3/4 of the way into the school year, and my children were miles ahead of the kids here. My oldest son lost two courses that aren't offered in his grade here and became very downcast. One was a high school credit course. The asst principal didn't contact or notify me for two weeks about his schedule, and they tested him without my knowledge or consent. Only one teacher even will email with me, and that includes the principal. Discipline in the middle school is atrocious; fights are constantly breaking out and kids cuss and jeer at teachers-and these are the honor classes. When a teacher is out, they don't replace them, instead doing what they call "splits" which divides the class up into other classes, where you then don't do any work. We can't wait to get our kids out of this school, and I am shocked that any parent would try to have their children attend on purpose. The school also doesn't update it's website, and doesn't have the parent survey online that Osceola County schools are supposed to have. If you are thinking about moving to this part of Kissimmee, stay where you are.

I am a new 8th grade student this year. The middles school is very small and it is very hard to walk to your next class. The staircase is tiny so it is always full of people and this is a HUGE problem when you are trying not to be late to a class on a different floor. The rules are so strict that they might as well walk us to the next class. I am pleased with the school and It is not the best! But I do prefer it to schools that are nearby.

As a participating parent of my childrens education, I will state that Bellalago is the only area school my children will attend. They have quality teachers and great curriculum for the K-8. My oldest son is in his third year and he has been excelling each time. There is always homework and reading assignments, which keeps the students sharp, provided the parents are monitoring and participating in the work! Both my spouse and I commend the school for striving for excellence in it's FCAT preparedness and daily curriculum. Shame on the parents who complain about "the staff" and not take more control of their OWN participation of their child's educational growth. Go Bellalago Academy!

My kids have been going to this school for 3yrs and there has definitely been an improvement since the new Principal took over last fall. She cares about the students and the school. The front office staff has changed as well. There were some rude ladies before but the new staff is very helpful and polite. I think this is a wonderful school. They do need more parent involvement but the school is so big (K-8) it is hard to get all of the those parents involved but they do have 2 big events the Fall festival and the Multicultural night in the spring that bring the community together.

I am truly surprise at some at the negative comments on here. My son has been going to Bellalago for the past five years and I have nothing but praise for all the teachers and staff members I have come in contact with. His teachers have always promptly respond to any concerns I may have and the only one time I had to contact the principal, she respond to me the same day. I have also volunteer at the school on several occasion and all I see is staff being helpful to students.

As mention not all but the great majority of the staff and administration and yes including teachers are rude and definitely not helpful. When there is an issue is like loop holes to resolve unless you threaten to get the district involved. The staff at times seems to forget that the Parents are not there students but adults the merits respect as do also the students of course. On many occasion I had put the staff on check that mistaken me as a student. Unfortunately I cant wait until my children are older so they can be home school so I won't have to go through constant battle with this school. I have yet to to speak to the Principal since I guess she works for Washington D.C. and cant be bother. The only reason I know how she looks is because of the website.

I am amazed at what I have read. I don't know about the middle school, but the elementary has been wonderful. Everytime that I go to Bellalago, people have helped me. The School Secretary, Mrs. Padgett, has been especially professional and helpful. I have also spoken to the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Honeycutt, who has always helped me and greeted me with a smile on her face. I can tell that she truly cares for the students and they love her too. The teachers have all been good and my kids are happy!

i am an 8th grader at bekllalago. The school is horrible. it is so unorganized! they lost my fcat test results and the teachers do not care about the students. At the beginning of the school year, they had me wait in the library for two whole school days until they made my schedule. There is constantly useless drama among students which cause fights. And the school is strict! No studded belts, no ear-rings bigger than a quarter, uniform... I do not think Bellalago is the best school. It's the worst.

My son was disappointed that Mr. Harkins was not teaching fifth grade this year. We were really hoping that he would be there for my son who needed help with reading and math. This is my Daughters 2nd yr at Bellalago. She is a 6 grader this yr. I strongly agree with a lots of the parents. The Administrative staff are very rude!! I have yet to meet the Principal. My Daughter had an incident at school, and i had to call several times asking to speak to one of the Administrators, And for some reason everyone was attending meeting or just other poor excuses!! Finally when i said i was going to call the District to help me with this matter. I was able to speak to the Dean. I personally think the school is over rated.

My daughter just completed 2nd grade at this school. Mr. Confesor was her teacher this year and I do not have enough great things to say about that man. He is without a doubt the hardest working faculty member at Bellalago. I have a son going into second grade next year and am requesting he has Mr. Confesor also. It is teachers like Mr. Confesor that make this school anchored in excellence.

The school year has just ended and I must say that I cannot remember my son ever missing school as much as he does right now. He just completed the 6th grade and will be going into 7th next year. His teachers this year, in 6th grade were excellent, especially Mr. Harris. I cannot remember my son ever being so interested in Social Studies as he was this year. He has completed several very interesting projects and I cannot remember him reading as much as this year. Bellalago has motivated him!!!! Thank you to the teachers and staff. What a truly great school. By the way, I have never encountered any rudeness there and I wonder how the negative posting parents approached the staff that they would say they were rude. Also, this school earned an A for the 2008-2009 school year so 'Great Schools' has inaccurate information.

Unfortunately, based on reviews, many agree that the administrative staff attitude is less to be desired. It is a shame because our children are being led by these adults in this school and children are led by example. I am a new parent of 3 months and have to agree with many others that the majority of the office staff are rude and very unprofessional. I had a child in Kindergarten and a child in 2nd grade and I never saw my daughters teacher after the first day I dropped her off nor heard from her unless I sent in a note. I even received an apology that the days had slipped away and it was a shame she had not been able to meet with me. As far as the principal, I introduced myself to her 2 days before the 2009 school year ended. I had never seen her and it isn t because I am not an involved parent. I attended all functions in which I was invited to because I want to part of the school but have not seen the principal at the events I participated in. (Plays, International Night, Mothers Day Lunch or Kindergarten Picnic.) I also feel very isolated as a parent because day after day I stare at cars and am not able to connect with other parents of the school nor able to freely speak to the children s teachers as you never see them while you drop them off or pick them up. I rate this school very poorly and hope that it changes in the upcoming year.

This is my son's second year at this school. I must say the office staff including the principle are the rudest most unprofessional group of people I have ever come across in a charter school. Ms Edwards was extremely concerned about my son and all of her students always willing to meet with me. Now that he is in the second grade I notice that everyone is not concerned and I cant deal with the nasty atittudes from office staff and some of the teachers in the drop off and pick up line. This school is excellent. I don't understand any of the negative comments. I have two students in the middle school, one is in 8th and one is in 7th. This is out third year here at Bellalago and we moved here from New York. This is truly a private school quality education. In fact, my students learn more and have scored higher than my sister's children who attend private school in New York. The sixth grade team is incredible and they care very much for the students. The teaching quality is excellent. Both of my students are reading better and their vocabulary his improved. Math instruction is great and I can't believe the enthusiasm my children now have for social studies. It's great! I want to send a special thank you to the Sixth grade teachers and to Dr. Diez for creating such an incredible school.

After reading some of the comments I have to say that the parents writing the negative comments are not involved in their child's education, has no clue what is going on at the school, has made unreasonable demands of the front office staff. As far as the wearing of jeans and revealing clothing, that absolutely does not happen, this school has a strict uniform policy!!!!!

My child is entering 8th grade and this is the third year in a row that my child does not have a schedule going into the first day of school. Last year, I was pleased that they gave schedules on the first day of school after a brief meeting. Two years ago, my child waited three weeks before having a regular schedule. Other schools in the area seem to have their act together, why is it this particular school doesn't? Like others have mentioned, there are staff members who are extremely rude to those who walk in the front office. On the other hand, there are teachers at Bellalago that are willing to help parents and students.

I am not very pleased with the administration of Bellalgo Academy. The teachers are not very disprespectful and are the staff members. The staff at the front office are the rudest people that i have ever dealt with in my life. This is a school not a welfare line. Bellalago has a school uniform policy - I was dismayed when I read an earlier comment from a parent indicating that the school allows the kids to wear tight jeans - not since the school openned its doors for the first time - not only student is allowed to wear jeans without prior approval from the administration.

My children have been attending Bellalago since the school opened. At first, the school had staff and teachers that were unhelpful and unfriendly. Things have progessively changed. The past few years have been wonderful to say the least. When I walk through the hallways everyone says hello and greets me with a smile. My children have been very excited and speak highly about their teachers and staff members when they get home. The school is improving and beginning to offer more opportunities for their students. I am very happy and very proud that my children attend this school. While it is not perfect, I feel secure knowing that my children are in a warm, caring, structured, and most importantly safe environment.

We moved here from out of state and not knowing the area too well. I had a 7th grader and a kindergarter attending Bellago. Biggest mistake ever. The communication at the school is horrible and the office is complete chaos everytime I have had to visit. Very unorganized. The teacher was very young but pleasant. We were not happy at all with the all around with the school. It seemed to be more of a boot camp than a place to learn. My children will NOT be returing. Sorry.

Communication via email, is the best thing this school has done. I don't like this school at all. They need to try to get more respectful teachers and staff.

My daughter has been a student at Bellalago since it opened in 2004; coming from a private school the transition was hard. Her first year she had Mrs Bustamantes, who is an amazing person and teacher. She has made an impact on my daughters life and education. Dr. Diez Thank you for making Bellalago the great school it is, sadly we will not be returning next year, but if we had a choice, Bellalago would be it. Thank you!

My daughter has been in Bellalago since it opened in 2004; we moved from Miami looking for a better education for my daughter and we do not regret it. The teachers and staff are great; they are nice, they have never been rude to me (go to a school in Miami and you will see what rude means). Teachers may lack experience, but I prefer a younger teacher that is eager to teach and at the same time is open-minded and wants to learn, than a teacher that is tired of the system and just want to receive a paycheck. Parents are blaming the school for lack of communication; but are they communicating with their children?

I was a student at Bellalago Academy for approximately two years. I just graduated the eighth grade and my parents and I are very pleased with the education I received. The teachers and staff are very helpful and friendly. I will admit there were times they were not but they needed to show us we could not get away with disobeying the rules. I have learned so much, and my confidence has grown. The teachers all inspire you to do your best. I love this school and am very sad to leave it. My parents were aware of everything going on in the school, and were well notified of activities and meetings. The students are NOT allowed to go to school in tight/revealing clothes. There are punishments for this. Parents should be more involved. I will miss my Bellalago!!

My daughter attended Bellalago Academy and just graduated. I am very pleased with the education she received. Parents before complaining, should get more involved, it takes three to learn. Remember its the student, the parents, and the teachers.

My daughter attended Kindergarten here and she had a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Norris! I couldn't have asked for a better role model and educator. The front office staff are beyond rude. One time I received a phone call that my daughter was not in school when I had personally dropped her off. I was in a panic and was told they would get back to me in an hour! Are they insane! In this day and age I needed to know immediately that my daughter was in school. I had to threaten that I would be there to check on my daughter personally if they wouldn't. Teachers amazing - office staff not too bright.

My son is in kindergarten and is reading. He is so motivated to learn. I am notified promptly about events and activities. I have no complaints. So far, it has been a great experience. My son loves it there, and his teacher is great also.

I receive information by email frequently to notify me school events. My children also bring home information weekly. I have been very happy with the communication with teachers and the school and am surprised with the other comments! Everyone has always been real friendly to me at Bellalago! It is a real good school!

I have 2 kids currently attending in Bellalago Academy. The teaching is not consistant.Teachers do not notify you if they have any problem. The administration and staff tends not to listen to a parents concerns. I was disappointed with the staff because they are overcrowded and my kids feel through the cracks.

My two kids have been at Bellalago since its inception three years ago. The uniforms are a real help I get them dressed easily each day. Both my kids have had good teachers during their time at Bellalago, the events being held at the school are well advertised in the school newspaper and as a family we have attended concerts, athletic events, field trips and science nights. As a parent I am also involved in the PTO whioh is very active at this school. More parents need to be involved in their childs academics and PTO is a great way to be involved. I believe that parent involvement, especially at the middle school level is low. More parents need to step up to the plate.

I just moved her from south Florida. My son came from a charter school in Weston that was one of the top 10 schools in Florida. That been said this school has much to be desired! Absolutely no communication with parents, I have no idea what is going on in the school or of any activities much less what my son is doing in class. I am completely disappointed in this school and my son will not return next year. In fact I am trying to get him out now if possible!

Bellalago Academy has a lower standard of conduct. The students are allowed to go to school in their tight jeans and revealing clothes. There are no rules that govern the students behavior and conduct in school grounds. I am disappointed with the principal for allowing this to happen.

My daughter is new to Bellalago this year and I am glad to say she is doing very well. The teachers that she has (and it is two) are the best! I am relieved that she has two teachers that are very caring. I do want to say that I feel safe knowing that the school is very protected. The only down side to Bellalago is some of the staff are not very friendly and are a bit rude and gruff whenever you call or have to go in. Hopefully this will change in the future and the Bellalago staff will see that we are parents wanting the best for our children and I am sure that they want the same.

This school is a new and fairly to say every school has there weakness. I had 2 kids to attend this school in Feb 2006. I was very happy this summer when I found out another school was offered in my zone, well 1 of kids still had to attend this year. I do not care for staff. I find staff is not organized at all. Not recieving important notices from teacher/staff, graduation for example, the day before.

My daughter has been attending bellalago for 2 years now. We have been pleased with the curriculum and the 2 teachers that my daughter has had. Yet, I have not been pleased with all of the staff there. I do like the fact that the students wear uniforms. And as I said before, the two teachers that we have dealt with are awesome! I hope for the school to better itself since it is a new school, maybe it'll become better with experience since it is in a nice neighborhood and we will be there for a while.

This school is fairly new.It started on 2004. Classrooms still pretty big even though is a charter school. The schools is very impressive because is in a very nice area and seems to have the latest but curriculum wise and teacher experience seems to be the problem. They are very nice teachers.

Well balanced school regarding academics and arts. I've noticed that the teachers and staff are very rude to one another. My wife has worked in the school district her whole life and this, by far, is the rudest I've seen. I don't know why they are that way. They are very protective, which is a positive, but they can afford to be much more tactful. The way the treat one another makes my wonder how they are treating my child. This is my largest concern. It's a tough job (my wife tells me); but it is not too much to ask that they set the example in being kind to one another.

A child who requires intensive reading will find out that they are not afforded the opportunities to pursue their interests in the arts as are children on grade level reading. This is a shame as music has been proven to improve reading scores.

This is, unfortunately, a horrible school. There is a lot to be desired. I have 'toured the halls' on many an occasion and find the teachers and staff to be very rude toward one another as well as visitors. I can only imagine the way they treat their children. I have been around the school system for approximately 18 years and this is, by far, the 'coldest' school to send your children to. They have this belief that new 'middle schoolers' need to be 'toughened up.' While there is some truth to middle schoolers being more difficult to handle, they should not be treated as military students at an installation. It is a disheveled school that needs to be monitored immediately.
