Lake Country Elementary School

LOVE this school. Our school is currently growing leaders using, The Leader in Me, Leadership program. This is a leadership program based on Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Effective People. We also have hydroponic planters for each classroom, located outside of each gradelevel.This allows teachers to provide thier children access to unlimited hands-on explorations using the scientific method. In addition to the Hydroponic planters, we also have a school pond with it's own turtle and goldfish. The pond allows the children multiple opportunities to develop an understanding of what and who lives in a freshwater habit, as well as an understanding of water quality. Hands-on science is one of our goals to keeping children motivated and excited about school.

We moved from Broward County to Highlands county. Lake Placid is absolutely wonderful my son has had a smooth transition from Broward to Highlands. In my eyes this school deserves high grades across the board. Their teachers and support staff are all wonderful. If I had hand picked my son's teacher, I could not have done a better job. Mrs Rogers has done a wonderful job so far this year even with the 3rd grade stress of FCAT. Keep up the good work!' - April Bryant
