This is my first year at Vanguard. I agree with the not-so-good reviews on my school. However, since the beginning of February, our new principal has undertaken the enormous task of bringing "law and order" back to the campus. Already several rules that have been left unenforced for years are being enforced. There is a long way to go but, hopefully, the school will be better next year. -Student

While I do not have a child attending this school I can state, with first -hand experience and without reservation, that the opportunity of being a part of a child s educational and emotional progression is a blessing and a challenge. I do know one of the teachers very well. Her credentials, experience and background are extremely well suited for the high level of compassion, integrity and stewardship required for today s youth. She would not be at Vanguard if she felt their core values were not consistent with hers.

The way people express the vanguard school is completely wrong. 1st off if you send your kids there and they do wrong isn't that your fault for not teaching your kid wrong from right. Then if it is a boarding school and your kid misses classes you blame your kid not the school. Once again your not a good parent if your child decides to do wrong. I attend the vanguard school. I attend classes and play sports. My grade point average went from a 2.7 to a 3.8. If your kid is dedicated and concentrated the vanguard school offers a unliminated varieties of greatness. So just because your kid chooses to screw off you cant blame the school for your mistakes as a parent. Oh and my act went from a 9 to 20 in one year

I could not get my son out of this school fast enough. I lost an entire semesters tuition $24,000 which the school would not return by leaving in December, despite my child getting hooked on drugs at the school, missing 1/3 of the classes (at a boarding school!!!!) and having his entire personality change for the worse. He is back to his old self now, one year later and I don't regret losing the $24,000 for the time paid for but not attended as much as the year lost of his education. My personal educational consultant and myself have kept at least 10 families from sending their child there so I consider the lost tuition money well spent if it adds validity to my position in discussions with potential students of the school.

NEVER send your child to this dangerous camp for no supervision and calling it a school. They learn street smart tools to take home and staff baby sit while students play. STAY AWAY please.

When I say teacher quality is poor, it is not the quality of the individual teachers, rather the quantity of those teachers. Classroom sizes are promised to be no more than 8, yet my child tells me there are 13 students in her class. Principal leadership includes all of the school's leadership. Promises are made and broken on a regular basis without regard. I have been lied to on several occasions about all kinds of things including where my child is). The dorms are a disaster. When I was visiting one afternoon, there was music blaring shaking the walls and I think it was still during class time. My kid even told me that her friend went off campus with a stranger and did not know she was gone until she ended up in a accident. Across the street is some kind of low income apartments where the kids get drugs.

I am parent of a current Vanguard student. As I was reading the negative comments on here I thought to myself "who are these parents and what school are they talking about?" The one writier was correct, they must be a very small few who has it out for Vanguard. Vanguard has been a blessing for me child. Before my child came to Vanguard they were failing, afraid to go to school and didn't participate in any extra curricular activities for fear of being bullied and made fun of. My child never knew what is was like to have friends or be on a team. Now at Vanguard they have friends, play sports and is getting ready to apply for college. I honestly don't know where we would be without Vanguard.
