We have just completed our first year at North Grade Elementary. My daughter will be in first grade next year. Everyone is welcoming. The leadership of the school is fantastic. I find the environment of the school to be supportive and welcoming. Parent involvement could be better but what the school has is wonderful. My daughter cried on the last day of school because she can't wait to go back!
their children's education. The teachers are always welcoming and supportive. This is an amazing school, and as a former teacher, i am pretty picky!
My daughter is in Kindergarten at North Grade and part of the Dual Language program. The teachers are extremely friendly and highly dedicated professionals. Likewise, the Principal takes the time to get to know you on a more personal level. I highly recommend the school for dual language and regular classes alike due to the outward devotion to education shown at the school, in the classroom and at all school functions. The staff and student body are both very diverse. It's a wonderful, welcoming place that feels more like you're part of a family than just a school system.
My daughters have been at North Grade for 4 years now. The choice programs offered there are excellent and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. The teachers, staff and pricipal genuinely care about the children and seem very happy to be there. We feel very fortunate to be a part of the North Grade family. The Trevino Family
Great and motivated staff and a very active and supportive principal (Mrs. Battles). Three choices of education: Regular, Dual Language and Gifted Program. A 'Five Star School' with 75 % of students receiving reduced or free lunch, with two 'A's and 1 B' in the last 3 years. I think all these facts makes North Grade A GREAT SCHOOL!. Tha Marin's Family.
We love the school. We're very happy with the principal (she rocks!) and our children's teachers as well. I find there are a lot of parents who give a tremendous amount of time to the school, we are very lucky to have them. To the parents who complain about the dual language program, it's easier for children to learn a secong language now then in middle and high school (that's when I took it). Did I learn anything? No, but my children are. You must be patient with the program. It takes a couple of years. Believe me, I thought about pulling my children out of the program. While we were in California this summer, my 3rd grader amazed me with reading so wonderfully in spanish. My last child will now be attending Northgrade and the dual laguage program. We're very excited about the new school year!
My kids have attended North Grade for 4 years and I have had the pleasure of working and participating with the best teachers and personell every, they care and want the kids to progress in all abilitys. Thank you North Grade. We have the best principal every Ms. D Battles Thank you for being you. From the Nutty Nault's. *****
Any criticism of the principal before August 2006 should be taken with a grain of salt. On that day North Grade has had a new principal. Our new principal, Debbie Battles, has created an incredibly open and friendly work environment for teachers and learning environment for students. As a parent, I always feel welcome in the school as a visitor, parent advocate for my children, and volunteer. The Dual Language program is phenomenal.
Not really happy at all with the staff or communication at this school. I have called them several times requesting meetings about my child's progress or behavior and they tend to ignore you and hope it will go away. The communication about school events is horrible. I am pulling my kids from here for 2008-2009 and I would not recommend sending your kids to this school if it can be avoided.
My child was in the Kindergarten Dual-Language program. The teachers were very well organized and very passionate about teaching. My daughter has learned so much in Kindergarten! She is a great reader & writer in BOTH languages and only 6 years old! She had so much fun her first year!I highly recomend this program, but you must be dedicated to your childs' education. Teachers always need and welcome parent helpers and involvement. I am so greatful that my daughter was in the dual language program for Kindergarten!
My son started North Grade last year in the gifted program. At first I was a little scared due to what I was told about the school. But he had a wonderful teacher by the name of Ms. Linda Moore who made the transition a wonderful one. She always kept us updated and tried to always involve the parents as much as possible. There needs to be a lot more teachers like her. I do did wish that the students would be recognize for there hard work. For instance honor roll or end of the year achievements. Also, the office staff is so unorganized and rude when ever I've called or ask someone a question they don't know the answer which made it hard for me as a parent. Overall it's a good school.
my children have attend this school for 2 years now. I think the teacher and the prinicable do their best to make it a great school. They offer many chances for the parent to be involed.
My child has been enrolled in the Spanish Dual Language program since kindergarten. I have been quite happy with this program and the majority of the teachers. My child is non-Hispanic. I do not like attending any functions at this school. The P.A. system is not very loud. Students and siblings are running around. They are not disciplined by faculty or parents. It makes attending any concerts or anything else unpleasant.
Great school. Kids in the dual language program learn Spanish starting Kindergarten. Teachers are great.
We transferred our chilfren out of this school. The dual language program curriculum was not as described to us and the chilfren suffered for it. Lip service is mostly what we recieved from administration when we had problems. I hope it gets better for everyone else who is still there and will go in the future.
This is my son's first year in school. I chose Northgrade because of it being a dual language program. Since my son has been here, I have had nothing but problems with the lack of communication from staff! The principle as well as the assistant principle are rude, teachers cannot get on the same page at the same time. And I feel that as a parent of a kindergarten student, Staff needs to communicate every issue that needs to be address as soon as possible and not at their convenience.
North Grade is a very new school and has excellent resources. The teachers are usually very friendly and professional, although I can't say the same for the Administrative staff. There are several portables and concrete-ables on site. There is an excellent Dual language program, but be advised that it will be very difficult for students that don't have at least one parent that knows some spanish.
