Sleepy Hill Middle School

This school is TERRIBLE. They have horrible leadership! I would not want my dog to go here. Students run the place, teachers are always doing inappropriate things, the principal cares more about her clothing and heels than the kids or teachers. The admin is all about show and nothing more. Pathetic place for kids to go.

Principal at this school is a heartless witch. She doesn't care about her staff and treats the kids like dogs too. I hope her school gets a D again and that she gets a demotion because she should NOT be in education and act like this. My kid is afraid to go to school because its so bad there. I am trying to save money to move to get away from the place. Wish me luck!

Very disorganized school and the teachers dont pay attention to anything that goes on,There is alot of bullying going on and alot of drama that follows you even if you try to stay away.My 3rd period teacher tells her students its a personal problem. for example miss.(name of teacher)i need a pencil.teacher:sounds like a personal problem.And The principle will except but disagrees with dying your hair but for A.R she's dying her hair blue and coming to school.My parents pulled me out of this school because everything that goes on there.I would not recomend this school I recomend Southwest middleschool.

There are no recent reviews to go on but, by looking at the current activity on FCAT and staff/parent involvement, I do hope this school gets its' act together before my daughter is to attend here or I will be forced to move.

I pulled my child out of this school as the students control the classes and the teachers are tired of dealing with so many problem students. Every school has problem students but an administrator told me that this school is inundated. The goal the principle sets for the school is a 2.0 average and sends a recorded phone message stating this to all the parents every mid term and report card that is sent home. Low expectations bring a low academic result.

This year they decided to force us to buy school shirts buy not letting us send our children in polo type shirts. My son has been going there for 2 years already and I have now got tons of polo shirts he cant wear. Whos brilliant idea was this?

I think some of the teachers should give special attention to the kids who are falling behind. Have a connection with the student for the reasons why. Have a little more compassion and spend after school time to help them.

I am an 8th grade student attending this school. This school has no organization. What is taught academically is extremely simple. The students are unruly during class time and rarely listen to the teacher. I would not recommend this school to any student. You will be greatly disappointed.

My child attended SHMS 7th and 8th grade. I was impressed with the attention given to the students during the 8th grade in co-taught classes, having two ceritfied teachers in a class. This was something most helpful. Mr Brackman was princple during the 8th grade, he was attentive to the parents concerns when he was able to find time from his schedule. Many situations are pacified and parents were ignored until a student had discipline problems. Policies were strict, keeping the girls and boys in seperate areas upon arrival to school, during lunch and also the numerous 'silent' lunches. I personally though this to encourage the students to stay focus and reduce behavioral problems. Mr Brackman did impress me, providing wonderful field trips for all students. Something my child experienced only once during the 7th grade. Most teachers were helpful and set an example maintaining a positive learning environment.

I feel that Ms. Broganburg (principle) and Ms Green (counselor) are very positive concerning their children. This is what makes a good school.

I used to go there but I dont anymore. I was there in the beginning of this school year. It has done alot for me and it has helped me. I was in the chorus 2 years and pe. It is a really good school inside and out

SHMS did WONDERS for my daughter! They were very caring about her needs, the guidance couselor was Wonderful! The teachers for the most part were very nice, but like some schools there are a few 'bad apples', I was helped when I had any problems from those teachers and the matters were addressed quickly.

This school has a very good tutoring service. The principle is interested in the academic, social, and emotional development of the children. I appreciate that this school puts academics far above sports or art and music as being the most important need of the child.

School books are not being used at all. My son is in the 6th grade and gets homework once a week and tests/quizzes once every 2 weeks. Don't want him to fall through the cracks. School security is atrocious.

My daughter came from private school to Sleepy Hill. It was a great transition. The team teaching aspect is a great idea. The teachers are very supportive and help the students in class and in 'helps' classes when extra help is needed. I have found the vocal program to be outstanding! The administration and resource officer help keep the campus a safe environment for learning. Overall our time at Sleepy Hill has been a very positive experience.
