I had to rip my kids out of this school, they went from straight A's there past 4 years in a different school to D's! The teachers have no heart they are there for a paycheck and don't have feelings towards the kids! Staff is snotty and stuck up! My kids attended for 1 month and their grades dropped that bad, didn't sound right at all to me and I saw my kids confidence change right infront of my eyes, they came home heart broken over class work & missing 1 question and got c's & d's!??, Money greedy, and all they want the kids to do is get on computers, iphones, ipads and learn through that so they dont have to teach! Lazy lazy lazy lazy! Dont hurt your kids by sendig them there please!!

The faculty in this school contradicts themselves. The principal tells parents that the teachers are encouraged to take the children out to recess everyday as part of a statewide initiative. The teachers say they are required to keep the children in the classroom in order to work on their reading skills. They can't seem to spare 15 minutes for the kids to refuel during the day with a little outdoor play. They are so concerned they will not succeed ( am not sure whether they mean themselves or the children). I have been told by every teacher my child has had since kindergarten that they take the kids out on for recess on the days they do not have P.E. If you are old enough you probably have fond memories of recess after lunch. Don't our children deserve the same? Schools should be emphasising the need for daily outdoor free play, not taking it away from the kids. I pose these questions to all adults...when you were 9 could you sit in a chair for 3 hours straight and pay strict attention to the teacher in front of you without a break? Didn't you appreciate a few moments to talk to your friends? Is this really going to produce better test results? At what expense?

Oakstead is an amazing school. A lot of activities and family involvement. The kids are always challenged and special needs are met efficiently. I wouldn't change a single thing about the school. My kids have been here since Kindergarten and they have thrived, they are now in 4th grade. Go Otters!!!!!!

Oakstead has proven to be a great learning environment for my child. He's steadily excelled all year, with the teachers being able to adjust to his needs and challenge him on all levels. The staff and administration is fantastic, keeping constant open lines of communication. Parental involvement is always encouraged and is needed to succeed.

This is an excellent school! The administration is very communicative and supportive of parents and students. The teachers that are with my kids are top notch and are not apprehensive to tend to their needs. The inclusion team, particularly, is very professional and dedicated to my child's needs. There are a variety of extra curricular activities including a chorus and a book club. They have fantastic family events (like the Fall Festival and Otter Ball), which motivates kids to go to school. I highly recommend O.E.S.!

My daughter is going into first grade. We had a great experience last year. She participated in Odyssey of the Mind and absolutely loved it. Our team had lots of activities to get involved with your child, both daytime and evening so that everyone who wanted had a chance to participate.

My child is in Kindergarten. It seems like the year got off to a slow start with a lot of assessments, however, now it is moving along well. I am happy with my child's progress. The PTA is very active and they encourage volunteering, which I think is wonderful!

Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
