In the Pasco County Schools District, students can attend any school (called intradistrict choice) or transfer to schools in neighboring counties (interdistrict choice), as long as there is space; these requests are due in early March. Students may also attend charter schools. The district offers gifted education services. It also provides special education support such as physical, speech and occupational therapy. Students with special needs may be eligible to receive a McKay Scholarship to attend a private school.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
