ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Boyd H. Anderson is an excellent school with a good variety of clubs and really helpful teachers. Your child should be going in with an open mind. The teachers as well as staff are wise and would actually prefer to see students succeed if the students would take lead of their own education. Let them join a club of their liking early if possible. That helps in giving them some type of freedom as a growing adult. Don't force them to pick a study or lifestyle during high school but rather highly suggest career areas for exposure and their options. Teach them to respect other students to prevent getting into unnecessary situations that involves physical issues or verbal dire straits with teachers and/or other students.

I'm currently attending boyd Anderson high. I'm in an ASL class for sixth period last year they fired the teacher and now we have no teacher for the last 6 weeks of school . We are wasting time that can be used for other core classes. Totally sucks!!!

. THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL I KNOW . THE STAFF SPEAK TO THE KIDS LIKE THEY'RE Inmates. I DID EVERYTHING THEY ASKED ME TO DO TO CHANGE THE ADDRESS . ROUNDTREE GAVE MY DAUGHTER A PASS SHE AND HER TEAM WAS SUPPOSE TO UPDATE THE ADDRESS BUT DID NOT. CAUSING, THE DRIVER( # 4134) TO HAVE THE NERVE TO WRITE MY OLD ADDRESS ON THE NEW PASS AND TOLD HER SHE COULD NOT RIDE TILL COME BACK WITH ROUNDTREE.MY DAUGHTER WENT TO GET MISS ROUNDTREE WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE LISTENING. SHE SCREAMED AT MY DAUGHTER AND SAID YOU TALK TO MUCH YOU MAKING MY JOB HARD .THE BUS DRIVER REFUSED TO LET MY DAUGHTER ON THE BUS AND ABANDON HER . I CALLED TRANSPORTATION .THEY WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE CHANGE OF ADDRESS THEN MY CHILD AT THE SCHOOL WITH NO SUPERVISION. I WAS TOLD THEY WAS GOING TO CALL THE DRIVER TO GO BACK AND PICK UP MY DAUGHTER. TWO HOURS LATER NO DRIVER . I WAS TOLD TO GO AHEAD AND TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO THE SAME BUS THE NEXT DAY . SO I DID. SHE ACT LIKE SHE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR BY LETTING MY DAUGHTER RIDE.THAT SAME DAY I TOOK MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THAT SCHOOL .THEN , THEY WAS ACTING LIKE THEY CARE(FAKE). THE DAMAGE WAS DONE . CARMA IS A BIG FAT B . ESPECIALLY FOR THAT NO GOOD DRIVER.

This the worst school ever made the teachers are horrible the staff dose not care at all what the students say and don't get me started on the students, there can be a student about to get beat up by 5 people and the staff would just stand there and watch! This school really needs to be shut down there is no point in having a school where you don't learn anything.I really hope someone see's this that can step up and do something about this jail you call a school.

From a relatives of football athlete: From far worse administration I ever seen for past 4 years which shows on students and athletic programs... Broward County School District really need to take a look at Top Management of this school and think twice about who they have on these seats who only care of themselves and their pay checks. No support, no communication, they fired one of the Best Track coach they have and intentionally pushing away the good football coaches they have currently in place who truly are here for the kids and trying to build a good program!!! BA used to have an history and one of the best school in the State Athletics wise Disgusted by the people there, parents don't even get involve in their kids schooling or show up to the game! Shame on you Broward County, Education suppose to be our kids future

This school is awful! Don't even bother registering your child(ren) at this school. Administration has no communication at all! If there aren't any communication at a school then the safety level drop completely. The new administration has no foundation and it comes off as if they have no clue what they are doing and everyone wants to do their own thing. The school is disorganized, not one event have I been to at Boyd H. Anderson High School and it was done well and was successful. The school is like a grave yard, no one has school sprit once you walk down those halls of Boyd H. Anderson High School a certain depression comes over you as in you would rather be anywhere else but Boyd H. Anderson High School. Some teachers don't even give a hoot about some of the students and doesn't even fulfill their jobs as teachers, when you send your child to school your expecting for them to have a bright future and is learning something. But not here at Boyd H. Anderson High School. No wonder its the ONLY "D" school in Broward County, this school is a disgrace. If were the superintendent of Boyd H. Anderson High School I would of shut this place down. Its a complete waste of tax payers money.

I am currently a student here at BA, If I could transfer out of this school I would in a heart beat. The school's teachers are awful. They don't care about their students grade at all. Before attending BA my grade point average was always above a 3.5 now its a freaking 2.0????? The teacher doesn't teach ANYTHING! I've went administration several times about my grade and was told," There's nothing we can do, try harder next year". There's nothing here that gets the parents, community nor students involved. There's a SGA class and it seems like everything they try to do in order to better off the school's image has been shot down by administration. The new administration doesn't have an idea what they're doing and its hurting the school. Before you register at BA think about it, give it second or even third thoughts.

Boyd H. Anderson High School. . . WHAT? This school is the most unprofessional, disorganized and uncommunicative school I've ever sent my child. The school doesn't do anything to get parents, students or the community involved. I've heard other parents speaking about their child not learning one thing since attending the most unmoral school in the county. If I were you I'd take my child anywhere but Boyd H. Anderson. Since the complains I've gotten from my daughter I've withdrawn her so fast it wasn't funny. I believe the new administration currently at Boyd H. Anderson High School needs to take some notes from the new administration at the Middle School next door, Lauderdale Lakes Middle School. now that's an AWESOME! administration which knows how to run a school.

Boyd Anderson high school is not so great. I am in the IB Programme that has gone down the tubes since our coordinators were replaced. The school in general is not too bad except for the fact that the administrators put too much emphasis on fcat rather than the schools overall success. The teachers are inadequate for learning as far as IB and the reviews about the regular teachers aren't so hot either. This is my third year here and I feel as though the school has gotten worse. I'm trying my hardest to leave this school because i feel as though I'll do better in a different educational setting. I do not recommend anyone to attend this school because honestly a parent wouldn't be giving their child a strong educational background for the future.

umm...how should i put this,,B.A. is very unorthodox this year. This school is very unorganized,Students feel UNSAFE,and the administrators of school rarely take there job serious! The security does anything to get innocent students suspended for whatever. This school feels as if they can suspend any student with little information so,they think they can do it to any student. Thats why alot of parents are switching their children out of B.A. Its too many issues at that school, its too much going on at that school, everywhere i go i feel unsafe because the securities will follow behind you if u have to go to the restroom, which is really uncomfortable for a female, they will harass you in the halls if you have a pass!, and they are flat out rude,There are students that disapproves of this school and there are the students that don't care at all,To me its all about the education and safe environment but IN MY OPINION,B.A. doesn't really have that at all if you ask me! I pray i go to another school this year,I've been to B.A. since my freshman year and now its time for me to leave this school whenever i get the chance to leave this school im ready! Please dont take this offensive!

I had two kids that spent 8 consecutive years at BA. The school had its ups and down. Mostly downs. A lot depended on the principal and other administrators. When Willie Dudley and Julie Biancardi were the principals, the school improved and was run well. When they replaced Ms. Biancardi with Timothy Gadson as principal, the place went downhill fast. He ran the school into the ground. Talented administrators and teachers transferred to other schools. People couldn't wait to get out of there. Eventually the situation got so bad they fired that principal ! The place became a human cesspool.

Hi. My name is Samantha and I attend Boyd H Anderson. I'm a freshman and have attended this school for about 4 weeks now. I know this school may seem bad because of reviews and grades, but once you step inside of this school, it's like a really good place to learn. The teachers are nice, the food here is great, and the students (well some of them) are kind. Most teachers here care about us and I really appreciate it. My point is, don't judge a school because of the reviews and grades that it gets and just assume it's a bad school. You have to experience it yourself. When I was leaving 8th grade to go to 9th, I thought that all the high school teachers weren't going to give a damn about me, but once I met my teachers, they were all nice. They really cared. So... yeah.

B.A is what u make it 2 b. If u say its horrible u urself is horrible. U make ur experience either good or bad . 2 Me my own experiences r simply great. My teachers have overtaught me more about what I really need in life . There are rarelyfights, rarely anything to really say about the school. Until youve gone there for a period of time who are we as people to judge an educational facility. I am proud to say that I will b graduating from b.A in may of 2010. Cobra pride

I have had many challenges at this school. I have been exposed to one supportive administrator. Many of the teachers refuse to contact you. I have not seen many positive changes. My children's grades and attitude toward school has become more negative.

As a student of BA and a member of the International Baccalaureate Magnet Program, I would have to say that Boyd H. Anderson is not a bad school. The programs are good, and the ideas are there but we don't have the support from the community or the government to make BA a greater school. People aren't giving us a chance, because the know we can be the best with a little chance. I am a senior and I have been there all four years, I am proud of where my school is from where it has came from, I love BA and we are improving, our football team is divisional champions, and we are going for state. BA is a good school, just gives us a chance.

I went to Boyd Anderson school my 9th grade year and I think it is a wonderful school that tries to help its students as much as possible. It has a bad academic reputation, but the teachers are trying to improve it with very little help from the children. I think it's a great school. Thank you for your time.

In my four years at BA we went through 3 principals. The principals we did have seemed to be minimally involved and none of them made a dramatic difference. The Ib program seems to be the only thing keeping that school together and little by little it too is deteriorating. While there were activities and clubs for students to get involved with, actual involvement was hard to come by. Parent involvement also seemed to be at a minimum, at least outside of IB.

The Boyd Anderson International Baccalaureate magnet program is a wonderful opportunity for a child to get an exceptional education. The program is very intensive, but the rewards are great. The classes are challenging and interesting because the subjects are explored at a much deeper level than in a traditional or Advanced Placement environment. Students learn to analyze a given subject, rather than simply memorize answers to questions. IB graduates are heavily recruited by Universities. The principal does not appear to support the program as much as previous administrations. Hopefully, the program will survive his passive aggressive attempts to dissolve it.

Boyd H. Anderson (BA) is a school that has a great respect for diversity. The students and faculty bond together to provide quality education for all! In spite of certain ethnic barriers, students embrace learning and try hard to accomplish all that is placed before them.

From what I read in the previous review, I am sorry to see that this student (or I fear Parent) spent too little time in English class. To open ones mouth is to remove all doubt... This school is doing the best it can with many difficult students. Most could be corrected with the proper homelife and guidence. The school cannot do it all. I do believe the Principal is not doing enough to oversee the teachers.

This is the worst school that you would want you child to go to. The teachers dont teach crap, there are fights everyday, no discipline whatsoever, and can careless what we or the students feel. Again, I don't recommend anyone letting their child go to school there!!
