Wow - this has been a great experience. We have been at the school for two years now, my child is in 8th grade. One story that will tell so much about the school. My child wanted a conference with a teacher and the principal about an issue going on in the classroom. I sat back and let the three of them confer and observed. The principal, Mr. Mitchell, knew my child, the personality of being strong willed, and knew that this might be part of the issue. Challenged that the child become a leader in the class and recognize that others watch how this student behaves. I was so stunned because coming from public school, I wondered if the principal knew who my child even was let alone the personality. We love it at Orangewood!

Both my children graduated from OCS and they had a great experience at the school. They were well prepared for college and they were encouraged in their faith. They each took several AP classes and passed with flying colors. They were both honors graduates at a highly selective private university.

Orangewood has been the perfect school for our daughter. The teachers are nurturing, the academics challenging and the enrichment and extra opportunities beyond the classroom have exceeded our expectations. On top of the above benefits, they reinforce the Christian values that we aim to instill in her at home. The principal is approachable, kind and very involved in everything that goes on at the school. Our daughter loves going to school, loves her teachers, is happy and thriving academically. We are very happy to be there !

Good Christian environment, but if your child attends this school for high school, he or she will not be adequately prepared for college. I graduated from Orangewood a couple years ago at the top of my class, and I have had to work really hard at a state school to maintain top grades. The science department is particularly lacking. AP Biology lost a teacher midway through the year, and the students were basically hung out to dry. In AP Chemistry, the entire class of about 20 students all received 1's on their AP exam. The teachers are very nice and the environment is nurturing, but they just don't give their student the tools to succeed. Nobody from any graduating class in recent years has attended a top-20 university. If you want your kids to make great friends and learn in a positive environment, Orangewood is great. But, if you want your kids to receive a quality education, DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL!

About these ratings

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
