My children went to Dommerich spanning over 14 yrs with last year 2012 being our last year there. We could not have asked for a better school for all 3 of my children. My children have excelled at Dommerich and the teachers and staff were awesome. Very much a feeling of family and community at that school and a great stepping stone to their future. I was a substitute teacher there also for 7 yrs. and know from that point of view that there isn't another school like it!!!

We are fairly new to the area (a little over one year); my daughter just completed her first year at dommerich. I was reluctant to send her to an OCPS due to the horrible reviews we hear about so often. I have to admit the school suprised my wife and I time and time again. The facility is fairly new and sits in a quiet setting of a nice neighborhood. The teachers are knowledgeable and practice very open communication with the parents. Like many OCPS schools they offer utilities for parents to stay involved such as update emails and a website that provides information relating to upcoming events and school activities. In the mornings some of the students host a "Live" t.v. broadcast news report for all students to watch. The parents of dommerich students are exceedingly involved, more so than any school I have ever seen. School officials orchestrated several successfull events to bring the community together. The school is proud to assist scouting and other similar extra curricular activities. Dommerich has to be one of the best schools in the greater orlando area.

I have to laugh about the parent that blasted Dommerich Elementary, And 2 days before school was out. They do not bus children in from other areas. The children that attend Dommerich actually live in Maitland and the zoned area which is around Dommerich. So I question the review left here blasting Dommerich. They failed to mention the many extra cirricular activities such as golf lessons and a strings music section available 4 & 5th graders. That poster must be confusing this school with Lake Sybelia Elelmentary. They bus in children from other areas, and have an awful reputation.

If this school is a 9, I would hate to see what anything lower is like. Orange County district is rated one of the lowest in Florida. New building, new administraton, more kids being bussed in from other areas. Do yourself a favor and spend the money now for private school and maybe you won't have to pay for Community college.

Dommerich continues to challenge my kids to use higher level thinking skills and not just rote facts. The teachers are among the finest in the county, if not the state, and are allowed to do their job with the tremendous support of parents. My kids love this school and the tight-knit, caring community.

This school is one of the best schools in the county. I was honored to do my senior internship here. The staff is amazing, caring, and positive. You could not find a better atmosphere for a child to grow and learn in. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for best education!!
My daughter has gone to Dommerich for two years. The teachers are dedicated and caring teachers who continue to find innovative ways to teach. The principal is very involved and is a great example of a leader. SAC is well attended and sets high goals for the school. There is a running club in the morning three days a week, and after school golf lessons twice a week. Strings is offered for 4th and 5th graders. The music teacher is wonderful and puts on several shows a year. The Library is well stocked and the media specialist runs a clever news program each morning. Parents are encouraged to help in every area and it shows! The parent involvement is phenomenal and so is the PTA. The physical building is old, but is scheduled to be rebuilt in the next two years. Safety and discipline are stressed! Great School!

Great school with tons of parent involvement.

A lackluster school with terrible physical facilities. Poor leadership from the top down. Our neighborhood has several kids that transferred to Catholic and other private schools who seem to be much more progressed in areas of math, science and reading.

One of the reasons why this school is always an A school is the parent involvement that is evident in the classroom and through the schools PTA. The teachers really care about their students and the parents hold the teachers responsible and accountable for upholding a strong learning environment. We have been truly blessed to be part of this school environment.

I'm disappointed in the email response time of many teachers, however I believe overall it is a good school. I also think the strings program is a great opportunity for the students and am impressed with the level of parent involvement.

Excellent teachers, poor administrators. My children enjoyed the strings program offered for 4th and 5th grade. High parent involvement.

Well, I am not a parent, but I graduated from Dommerich in 1995. The memories I have of Dommerich still make smile whenever I think about the awesome teachers, staff, and school atmosphere. I truly believe that the elementary years are a crucial milestone in the life of a person, and I know that Dommerich has played a role in helping me to be the driven person I am today. Thank you Dommerich!
