I have heard different views about this school and the students and staff. My son is a seventh grader and we are considering this school which is close to our residence. I am a very active parent and want to have my son educated in a safe, open minded and structually academically disciplined environment.
Worst school ever. The teachers could not care less for there students. I hate the fact that I have to send my son there.
My son loves this school but his grades are poor. I have trouble getting good interaction with teachers and know his friends are all doing poorly in classes. The teachers are nice, but I feel this school lacks study skills and followup with parents.
I have a seventh grader at Margate, are the teachers are great, they keep me updated on my son's progress. They are very concerned about their students and try to make their classes engaging. My son loves Margate, he participates in many of the activities they have
my daughter is doing good at school, I know all her teachers and some of them are very responsible. I liked the security that they have at pick up time and I appreciate the interest that some teachers has, just like Mrs.Antz; math teacher of 7 grade
No one should put this school down.I am a 7th grader here and Margate Middle School is the best and funnest school I've ever been to.The teachers are fun and caring and administrators knows when to put their foot down, and some of the students are really fun to hang out with.Right now we're an A and we're keeping it that way.
I have 2 children at Margate Middle. My oldest is in 8th grade and my youngest is in 6th. I heard all the stories in community about how bad Margate Middle is. Well I am here to say the stories need to stop. Margate Middle is a very good school and is improving all the time. We are an A school and we have the Teachers and Students to Thank you. So Thank you Margate Middle.
I believe in margate middle school, comming from an b school and moving to an a now is great they do care and my daughter alyssa was a sixth grader lastyear so im sure they worked it out. i am happy over all. i admit i was scared at first my baby going to sixth grade, but mrs pasley, and mrs odem, rosenfield and the rest of the dolphins team made it a great transition. thank you from my heart.
Most of the teachers make an effort to keep all the students interested in their subjects, however, more homework would be beneficial.
I'm a new parent; my son just started 6th grade at Margate Middle. I find the principal and teachers very responsive to parents, and focused on increasing academics. It is a little disappointing that there are not more art, music, field trip opportunities, as kids at this age level respond so well to these. Parents are welcome to get involved as volunteers and in PTA, not enough do, but those of us who want to are welcomed with open arts. There is hope for this school, which has a B rating.
This school has made excellent strides. This school is a 'B' school and the teachers, administrators and principal work extremely hard to achieve academic success and student safety. Whenever I visit the school, there is an open door policy and they respond to my child's needs. It is obvious that some of these reviews are from parents who may have an agenda or who have not visited or know this school at all. I agree that there needs to be more parental involvement. It is not the school's fault that parents are not involved. The school has always asked for parental involvement. Are some of these parents reading the monthly newsletters or attended PTA meetings. I think if they did, they would have a whole new outlook about this school. They are moving towards academic excellence and they need our support.
Margate middle is a middle grade school and should have a better program for students who are to be in advance classes. My child has adhd and are in advance classes. She attended this school in the 04-05 school yr. and was board with part of the currilucum. If she is not chenllenged she has a very hard time pay attention. This school also needs to have a better discipline method. Over all I am please that my daughter is not attending this school yr. Some of her seventh grade teachers were great and some didn't really show an interest. But I'm sure that all the teachers at margate middle school were always try to put the students first. However some may just be over stressed and are in need of a different type of school. This school is in need of a slight makeover.
My two boys have now left Margate Middle School and moved on to high school and my daughter is an incoming 6th grader. When my oldest started 6th grade, this school was a 'D' and now in 2005 it is a 'B'. They make great strides for academic excellence. Each administrator knows each of their students by name and many of our outgoing 8th graders this year have won many academic and community awards. They have a great range of music and arts programs. Extracarricular activities are also important for the social growth of the children. I work a lot so I am not able to be as involved as I would like but the parents are very involved in the school.
I, as a parent think that this school is doing poor in academic progress. Ever since I enrolled my child here, this school seems to do worse by the week. But, even though this school is doing horrible, the teachers here have helped my child a great deal. My overall review of this school would be bad, but I would give the teachers a break .
I think this school is horrible it has poor ratings and they have poor management. The kids think they run the school and I wouldn't send my kid no matter what.
