My daughter was going to Kindergarten. Great homework load, not too much not too little. Ms Minks - jewel of the school, super teacher, she cares about each student. My daughter thought very highly of her. We moved to Crestview, closer to work, "better school -Antioch" ....hmm.. We miss Florosa school, we miss Ms Minks a lot.
We just moved here from Colorado in March and my daughter is in Kindergarten. There are two schools to choose from around Hurlburt Field and I checked both of them out - Florosa won me over from the moment I walked into their office. The office manager and principal were there to welcome us with open arms! My daughter was put into Ms Pacheco's class and assessed. I was told that my daughter was no where near where she needed to be in reading due to poor education she received in Colorado and we were looking at repeating Kindergarten. I have worked with her two hours a day and Ms. Pacheco was working with her since March, and today I'm happy to report she will be graduating kindergarten and going on to first grade!!!!! Love this school!!!! Wish we could stay, but we moved to Navarre and that drive on 98 every day is just not for me! We will miss you Florosa Roadrunners but so thankful we found you when we did!
We like the school. My daughter goes to Kindergarten. She loves it. Good load of homework, I can see my daughter progress every day. Ms Minks - rocks!
I am a single parent and moved to the area from Richmond county, GA and I am blessed that my daughter was accepted in Florosa. Compared to GA, this is an outstanding school: Ms. Leach is a great teacher and listener. Communication flow is easy and transparent in both directions; Staff are professional and courteous from the Cafeteria manager to the principal office. My daughter, although has been through a lot due to my separation, has drastically improved thanks to the help of Ms. Leach and Ms. Weaver. Kudos to this A+ School. N.B: I am a father and very meticulous when it comes to rating and constructive criticism
Gosh, I just don't know where to start. We changed schools from WNPS to Florosa. We have been treated like dirt ever since our son started at the school. We had him evaluated for ADHD, which was done by our private psychologist. We received recommendations from the psychologist to have him put on an IEP/504 Plan... yet, the school turned us down. We were told that he must be failing in order for them to provide any support! Yes, I said failing... and yes, this came out of the mouths of the principal and the guidance counselor. They also told me that C- average is GREAT! This is also verbatim. Well, a week after that meeting and I get FOUR behavioral notices on him. He is consistently black balled and sent to the principal's office. Sounds like these reviews are tainted. Good luck to anyone who has a special needs student, especially ADHD. The teachers, principal, and guidance counselor wants your child so badly on medication and doped up that the child can barely see straight... this is their idea of "education".
My son has attended Florosa for the past 3 years and we could not be more pleased. The teachers are readily available to help and go the extra mile. The school provides many remedial services for struggling students at all grade levels and enrichment for advanced students in the upper primary grades. The staff go out of their way. Mrs. Lulue, the Principal, provides fantastic direction for the school.
I complained about the school, and I was a very involved parent. I kept constant contact with my child's teacher and the school. The school is great for some and not so great for others. It is a matter of preference only. I don't appreciate it being said that the only ones complaining are those that are not involved.
Florosa is a wonderful school. My child has gone to this school for the past 4 years and loves it! The faculty and staff could not be any better. This is also their 7th year as Florida A+ school.
I have to say I've never had a teacher so willing to go the extra step. Mrs.Boyd has been my son's 3rd grade teacher this year and has just gone above and beyond. The office staff could use a little refresher course in common courtesy at times, but over all I have no complaints.
A wonderful school! It may not look like much from the outside, but it's what's inside that matters! Great staff/student relationships. Everyone feels like family here and is accepted with open arms. My daughter was in the advanced gifted program and she found it fun and challenging. Would highly recommend Florosa to anyone. Principal Lulu is the best!
