I borught my child to this school this has to be the worst school my child has atteneded. My child came home from school with missing homework that he gave the teacher because the teacher lost it! this school needs to improve on hiring teachers because they certainly arent doing a good job. So i moved my child to this school nearby called Wakja it is way better even my child likes it there.
I have been a member of the Brentwood PTA for the last 7 years and I have been reading the comments by some of the parents, well we get no support at PTA meetings & we have only 3 a year, the same 10 parents attend and we have over 800 children, I would like to thank & say goodbye to our AP Mr Brito for the years he served us, he was well loved by all and will be dearly missed, we need to work together and support our Principal Dr Jackson to make our school better, please come to PTA meetings, request conferences with Teachers as homework is given EVERY DAY, come volunteer, the Staff and Teachers need your help and support, please keep our children safe follow the School Zone and Mr Douglas instructions in the mornings, he is our Great Grandfather PTA VP and Volunteer, thanks to Mrs Douglas & Ms Harris who volunteer in the Library every day & to Mrs Pinckney, Mrs Campbell & Mr Douglas who volunteer with PTA every day, I would like to say GET WELL to all our Staff Teachers and Students who have been ill since the year started we miss you and look forward to seeing you soon, we thank you for your support ,and may God step in and keep us Blessed.. .Amen
HORRIBLE SCHOOL DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO BE SUBJECT TO THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A SCHOOL!!! THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL EVER.
Worst school my children have been to. My children were in Morningside and were in the process of being promoted. Since they started in Brentwood they hate the school and the teacher loses their homework and the come home with no clue. When I moved for a better location in a hurry I should have checked the school first. The teachers except a few are as disrespectful as they get and dont know witch way is up disorganized and well the list goes on and on. The principal was talking down to my son on the first day of school and did not even acknowledge I was standing there. I feel like Im home schooling and they do not get any education at this school. Run from this school.
My grandhild have been going to Brentwood Elem. since 2006. We as parent s and grandparent must get involved. The teahers and staff can not do it along they need our help and support. The old folk always said it take a community to raise a child. We as parents need to ask question. Question our children about their homework or school project, also check with his or her teacher. Check our children homework. Volunteers at the shool. We are a team. Help us help all of our hildren. Support you kids teacher, PTA, and school fund raisers. Parents if your kids say they don't have homework, that a red flag, speak to his or her teahers.
This is my son's first year in the public school system. He is a kindergartener and I must say i am not impressed at the awareness of the school. I went to the teacher meet and greet so that I cold learn my way around the school and hopefully help my son to make it easier for him as well. Much to my disappointment on the first day the teacher tells me that my son can not write or even hold a pencil (but my son has been writing since he was 2 and he's 4) let alone he didn't eat his lunch I made and I have no idea if he ate at all. I'm trying to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt considering today was just the first day but so far I am very disappointed. I hope tomorrow is better.
I'm started to enjoy the new Brentwood so far this year. The facility and staff are expecting more from both the student's as well as parent's. However, we need more parent's involvement. The teachers can't do it alone. Most of the time I'm at the school observing what is being taken place. I have kids that attend this school and because I'm so involve I know what is going on in my children's classroom and the areas that they may need help in. So the first support that the the school need in order to do better is parent's support. Parent's don't wait until the end of the school year when your children are failing to want to get involve. Take an hour each month and volunteer to see how the school is running and what areas you can help your kids in.
My son went to this school and really did not learn a single thing. Now he is slightly behind and trying to play catch up within his new school. He now goes to Biscayne Elementary and doing so much better. This a real school. My child has homework everyday at Brentwood he did not once in a whole year ever bring anything home as far a homework goes. I believe that Brentwood needs to work in some of these areas as it is very important for kids to learn when they are in elementary grades as it only gets harder. If they fall behind now it takes that much more work from other teachers and us parents.
