North County Elementary School has inproved. The principle at the time didnt have alot of support but this years principle Ms. Robinson puts down the law. But one thing im still at question about the funds but North County Has Inproved
My son goes to this school. He is in kindergarden. His teacher is Chantel Lafortune and she is great. Every report card has shown great improvements. If all his future teachers in this school are as great as she has been, then I think the children that go there will become wonderful assets to society. After all these are the years when they are shaped and molded for a promising future.
North County Elementary School is a very good school the teachers work very hard inspite of the little to no parent support. There are extremely high demands put on them. The lack of the school funds, the amount of foster childrenand latch key kids they have to deal with does not make it any easier. This is a Title 1 shcool and I I tell u it is incredible to see these teachers at there best. Hang in there guys and Mrs. Collins it can only get better! Parent of children for the last 3years.
The principal does not show parent nor students respect.
This School has high violence between students. There is a lot of bullying. Many parents that send children to the school are not involved in there children's education at all. The teachers are at a loss because the parents are not involved and don't care so they don't either. The principal is not adequate and frankly does not care for the students. There are very few teachers who have the passion to teach at the school. The lunch is not always fully cooked for the kids and lunch mothers steel money from the kids. There are so many behavioral issues that all the children suffer.
there is no parent involvement and after school activities are non-existant
I have been a parent at this school for the last 5 years and the change in administration is making things very difficult for us parents. The new principal is making her own rules and regulations as to how to run the school which is not how it is to be when i speak to the school district. As a working parent I do not need the school administration to make my life more difficult and will discuss my concerns with anyone in school government who cares to listen and take action about this matter, a school is ran by a district and not by an individual .
I believe that what is needed is more sports activities for the children and for the school to look into cleaning up around the school area
North County Elementary is an urban public school whose main emphasis is cultural unity and not academic excellence. The unsaid but open rule is conformity and not thinking in original and innovative ways. Children are given lessons on the importance of 'identifying with community' instead of academics. The emphasis at North County as far as I can see is job security for teachers and not what is best for students. If you are black and conforming and you think the government not paying teachers enough is your child's problem, this is the place for you.
I see that I am not the only parent having problems at the school. I just hope that this new school year it will be easier for parents to talk and bring about some changes. As I see it the principal does not want red flags brought up around the school because then the easy job with no real obligations goes down the drain. I believe a principal should stand behind 'all' her students not just those she feels kin to. I hope all will be better this year. Thank you for the chance to vent. It is'nt easy being a student or a parent at North County Elementary.
