I love this school! My daughter entered into 3rd grade and my son started Kinder this year and we are very excited with the new school year! This year they made several changes but it's been such a smooth transition. You can only see they've made wonderful improvements and replacements. The staff are great, very professional and they particularly have a great eye for picking amazing teachers. There are new programs (sports and academically related) this year, which is exciting! My daughter always tells me how much she loves her school! This is what every parent wants to hear and a confirmation that as a parent you made the right choice. I am confident that the school management team will continue making positive choices that will only benefit the students. Looks like the teachers have been well trained and are prepared to implement the new curriculums, which eases my concerns. They've also added security and upgraded classroom equipment and more! Great start to a new year!
I am very PLEASED with the start of this school year. Wow what a drastic change its truly has been a full turn around. My kids love their teachers. The new Principal is amazing, the AP is amazing as well. Great way to start the year! We are very lucky.
Out with the old and in with the new... Yahoo! No more drama; happy to give the new team a chance to meet and great, enrich and teach our children and start fresh. I have no reason to jump ship. All my best from a vet parent. Amen. Happy summer!
I too am looking forward to the new school year, but I disagree with the previous review regarding the previous administration. The previous administration was entirely professional and attentive at every level, especially when it came to academics. I have decided to give the new administration a chance, but a newly remodeled school is not my concern, unless an indoor lunchroom is added. Quality and consistency of education is the most important. As to the countless families, teachers, administrators and staff that left, I understand their decision and wish them well. They will truely be missed and were all key players in establishing the great community sense we have ALL have enjoyed here. "IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD." Disappointed and saddened in the sentiment expressed in previous review. In every school when there is change their is drama, but to publicly thank the parents that left for giving up their seat shows the type of new families we may be getting and that there is more drama coming our way. I hope it works out but I am definitely looking at all my options. The new administration has big shoes to fill and I wish them well.
It truly saddens me to read the previous review regarding the school s run down administration. They were a very hard-working and superb group of people that tried their hardest to make sure every persons needs were met while still keeping their work very professional. It baffles me how a new parent coming into this new school year has so much to say about the previous administration. Especially how they know that a multitude of kids as well as staff members have left the school this year when I (a parent that has been in this school for 4 years) did not know about these events until very recently. I don t understand how the administration could have been so unsatisfactory when this school has been an A school for the past 4 years, as a result of the same staff that has been receiving such negative comments. The administration as well as the teachers, staff, and parents have been a fantastic asset to the school thus far, and it is a shame to watch The Village come apart. Nonetheless, I wish nothing but the best to the new coming administration and staff and hope that they one day too, get to raise the bar higher than what the preceding administration has left behind.
I resent all the negative comments that are posted regarding the PTA. Being part of the PTA requires a lot of time, hard work and dedication. As an involved parent, I will say that I joined the PTA to make sure that all the funds raised would REALLY go back to the children. We always alternate our meeting (morning/evening) to help with everyone s schedule. Unfortunately, the same handfuls of parents are the ones that volunteer or attend our meetings. How much is raised and how the funds are used has never been a secret. If would ve attended our meeting, you would know that a copy of the Treasures report is always handed out. We truly ask parents to please volunteer, help and participate with the PTA. If you are concern, please get involved and participate with the elections. That is the only way that you will really know what is happening behind the scene.
My husband and I were so excited our preschooler was going to attend Bridgeprep Academy South this Fall. We went through the whole enrollment process and received our BAS acceptance letter, then soon after came student registration at the South Campus but a week later an emergency meeting for the parents of the Kindergartens was called to inform us that all of the Kindergarten classes are being moved to a new location where the meeting was held at St. Catherine's Catholic Church to make room for the expansion of the 7th grade classes. I am still shocked and disappointed, my husband and I believe that Smart Starts Management provided false advertisment-misleading you by signing up for the South Campus location and then forcing the child to attend another location for only the Kindergarten classes. No concern for the child only the bottom line; add more grades so, more students bodies can be added in order to make more money. Smart Starts Management you give Charter schools a bad name!
I agree with the sentiment of other parents here, things at Bridgepoint have definitely taken a marked turn for the worse. The move to add a middle school has overwhelmed the school's already strained resources. The PTA and Management company raise money endlessly, but I agree with other parents, where that money goes is not clear. The PTA has never released the results of fundraising, how they spend the money is not visible, and they rarely have meetings where you could go ask them. The PTA is very much a clique, with a handful of women that run it, and all look out for eachother. We have tried talking with the management company and PTA and all we have been met with is aggression and disrespect. My daughter eats lunch at 10:30 AM, outside under a hut. She tells us often how they are rushed to eat quickly so that other kids could eat. The facility simply cannot handle the demand. We personally know some of the teachers and the reports they've shared with us in confidence are scary. Profit over education, that's apparently the Bridgepoint way. It's sad, it was such a great school. We are seriously considering taking out child out.
This will be our last year at BPA. This was a difficult decision we had to make as parents to say the least, but, we believe it is in the best interest of our child. We were skeptical when they announced that they were expanding into a middle school, but gave this year a chance. Sadly, it seems that this school both in structure and staff cannot support the needs as a growing school. Decisions like eliminating a cafeteria has made them use a very small picnic area that decreases the amount of how many students can eat lunch at the same time. Lunch sessions begin as early as 10:00am. We are not confident that the teachers and staff are content, there has been a large turnover in the last couple years. Some have even left mid-year creating an issue of stability for the students. Important programs and clubs are very limited because of the lack of resources, deal breaker for us.Some clubs met only twice the entire year. This has made us question where all the fundraising money has gone? My hope is that the school uses reviews to better the school and not dismiss the issues that are affecting the parents view of the school. We are moving on to another school but wish them all the best.
I am part of the PTA and are proud of all the work we do for te school. It amazes me how much parent participation we have. Parent organizations are a big part of what makes a school reach it's fullest potential. We work hard to do all we can do to make things better and better. The staff are great and the students truly love going to school. School is fun and they learn so much. The activities are great and help break things up for the kids.
I am so happy to see the school growing throgh 8th grade. I am a middle school mom this year and thrilled with the staff. The kids can really relate to them and they make learnign challenging yet fun for the students. Interventions are provided to the students who need help and enrichment provided to the advanced students. There is a great balance! I have a child who benefits from the interventions and another who benefits from the advanced classes. It is really priceless to have such a great school.
I had a daughter who graduated and now her sister is back and we love it just the same or more. I do not see any truth to the negative posts. It appears to me those must be false posts. The school, the management, the PTA, the GALA committee, the aftercare, and the enrichments are all great! It is literally just like a private school. Do not let anyone tell you differently. Just go see it for yourself, take a tour and meet the staff. GREAT environment! A school! Glad to be part of it all.
Proud parent of BPA. We are part of the baseball team and to us it is like an extension of our family. We are a really close grop of families that really care and are really involved in the school, our children's education, and all of the activities. We are happy that the school is expanding each year to get us through 8th grade. It is a small school with 300 or so students. My family and our children love it here. The academics are serious, the sports are great, the staff, students, families and environment awesome!
I am a cheer mom and have nothing more than great things to say about the school! My daughter is excelling academically and in sportsmansip as well. It has been such a great experience to be part of an A rated school with such a great sports program as well. The students are like a family. Everyone know everyone and parents and staff go out of their way to be helpful. I reccommend this school all the time. Unfortunately the demand to get in is huge and few spots open up each year, most are taken up by siblings and few if any open up in the higher grades. Looking forward to future plans for expansion.
All about profit... The teachers are very good they seem to either be new and still have a vocation for teaching or have tenure and love what they do. Unfortunately, the management of this school is poor at best and it is clear that there is preferential treatment of kids who matter to the bottom line (those whose parents donate/fund-raise the most. Even if you are involved be prepared to be overlooked if you don't have funds or connections that matter to them. THIS IS A BUSINESS
best decision i ever made to was to pull my kids out of this school. this is the perfect example of how giving a corporation money to run a school is not always a good idea. The bottom line is profits and it is apparent in everything they do and how the school is run.
The TEACHERS are AMAZING! BUT! The management company that runs the charter school is an utter disaster! Horrendous and unhelpful attitudes, plan ridiculous time consuming events that are NOT educationally focused! They should open up a event planning company, not run a school. These kids need to be challenged academically not socially. The Principal is running TWO schools and does not have the energy to make the commitment it needs for improvement. It began to become overwhelmed with the additional students this year and the quality has suffered. The next two years, as they expand into 7th and 8th grade, it will only get worse :( Such a shame for the sake of MONEY they are making poor decisions. The best teachers are whispering of leaving :( I don't want to change my sons school for his stability but seriously considering it. Lastly, don't even bother getting involved in the PTA its run by the management companies friends, lol.
Im very disasppointed with this school. The kids are not challenged enough and the principle can care less for the overachievers. They spend more time planning and executing mindless events then they do preparing our kids to be at the top of the class. it also concens me that when I pick up my child from the after school program kids are roaming the hallways unattended. Needless to saythe principle needs to step up and prepare our kids to be leaders. recognize talented kids and introduce programs to standout. cut back on the custom parties and implement more activities to challenge their minds. are s are roamingthe wallsways
The teachers and staff are in touch with every aspect of the students' progress. The communication between the school and the parents is excellent. Strong curriculum and very knowledgeable teachers..LOVE IT!!
My child has been going to Bridgepoint South since it first opened its doors. They have had great teachers however, many of those great teachers have left due to the Principal and/or management issues. Even though my child has been happy in this school and as a parents I love the fact that it is a small school and everyone is very acquainted with each other, I believe there is some major issues with the Principal and/or management too. They need a new Principal who understands every child's needs and who is more "updated" with today's education. One who is not manipulated by management and/or afraid to stand up when he/she has a strong opinion on what needs to be done in order for the school to succeed. I am very doubtful that my child will continue to attend this school if changes are not made within the next school year.
