Many parents think this is a great school. Many families are struggling financially and want to believe that the education provided at this school is as good if not better than at a private school, which they can't afford. Many families many turn a blind eye to issues that, if they weren't in a bind, they would take issue with, but they don't want to burn bridges and make things worse for their kids. Many families jump ship and move their kids mid-year based on issues they have. Unfortunately, they don't raise these issues with the school and the school thinks everything is great.
After reading the reviews posted, here is a 2011 update: The school is growing out of its space. They matriculate the students each year and add new grades (currently at 11th) to accommodate. The school prides itself on its state ranking. Note that results of one test (the FCAT), do not make a Great School. The school days are longer to accommodate Greek language and Math. There is Saturday school starting at First Grade, to prep the students for the FCATs. This is mandatory. There are great educators and there are certified teachers. Do with that what you will. There is no music in the school. It is an afterschool activity that you pay for. Art is one week each month and will take the place of PE There is no gym/auditorium. The kids run around on the open fields. Activities/Ceremonies are held in the center courtyard, that is not protected from rain or sun. Communication is scattered. Many times you will see a message about something that happened weeks or months ago, yet you don't hear about an upcoming event until it's too late to plan. There is a VERY active PTO. Note that there is no budget estabished for fundraising goals. Be prepared for constant handouts
I went here for half of 2nd and 3rd grade back about 8 years ago, and I loved it. Small classes and good teachers. One of the highlights of my young life. Hope it's still as good as it was back then.
Great principal, wonderfull teachers, We are so pround to have our daugther at Archimedean. Good level of communiction betwen principal and teachers with parents. God bless every employee of AA
Because its totally academy and i need thats the most important thing i that time for our kids.
It's an excellent school. I been very happy since my daughter started going in Pre-K.
It is great b/c of the wonderful board and faculty, small classes and parent involvement!
Archimedean Academy is the best for several reasons: their employees, teachers and directors. All of them are extremely professionals. Their study fields are advance especially in Mathematics and Reading. They also teach their students to be fluent in Greek language.
Because it s a excellent school, excellent teachers, staff, students and dedicated parents.
The best academic program in the state! Hyperbole? No thats a fact. Check the FCAT Scores and ratings within Miami Dade and Florida as a whole. Top 1 %. This is a Charter school specializing in Mathematics and Greek Language. The teaching methods are so advanced that the school is on par with the best private schools in the state while superior in most cases even to the schools who only allow gifted students to enter their classrooms. This school rocks ! Archimedean is the public schools with private school results of the highest caliber. Can't beat that combination. This is the one !
Archimedean Academy is a one in a million school!. They bring a very high education level in all areas. Family and multicultural oriented environment. Teachers are outstanding. Small classes. Excellent after school program. It is just the best.
Excellence abounds at Archimedean Academy. We find new solutions everyday to educate our children to the highest level!
Archimedean Academy is an excellent school, it is out of the ordinary. Not only do the children learn advanced math but they also learn greek. Achimedean is the first charter school to be visited by the superintendent. I am very proud of the school my child is going to.
My 9 year old started this scholl last September. It is the greatest school my daughter has ever atteneded she is learning another language and they also offer 3 more languages to stdy. I hope to get my 7 year old next year.
I am a parent of a middle schooler and I also have a child in the elementary, therefore I know about both schools. Archimedean's leadership, curriculum and faculty and staff have no comparison, everyone cares about everything that occurs in the school and their priority has always been the children and their success.
Archimedean is an excellent school. The teachers are dedicated to the students. The aftercare program is great with many activities for the children to choose from. This is certainly a 'A' rated school. The teachers and after care personnel are friendly and personable and they make each child feel important. Archimedean, thank you!
Parents be ware: This school is highly overrated. It's all about the image and very little about your child!!! The curriculum is followed very 'loosely' by the majority of the teachers, with the rare exception of one or two real teachers who care about the kids. If your kid it's not in a gifted class - he or she is not important. The school is also very very disorganized! There's never a schedule to follow during any activity - ask any parent! The after-school program offers many activities but the execution of the program is very poor - a waist of time and $$ There's absolutely no PE program - PE classes look more like 'recess'. The art program is horrible. My kid watched movies every wednesday for 'art'. This is an F school - my kid is not coming back in August.
Archimedean Academy is a wonderful school. Archimedean has K-8. Unlike any other school, we have Greek, Music, Art & PE. Parents don't have to worry about picking up kids late because there's Aftercare with tap, dance, chess, Spanish, French, Chinese, Greek & Drama. I love this school!
