Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter is on her second year at this school as a sophomore. I have been and am very happy with the school. My daughter is doing great. She's on the cross country and track team with Coach Ryan Raposo! He is a fabulous coach I am very happy with her academic and athletic success. Coach Raposo has a lot to do with her success. THANK YOU!!!

Well I am currently in John A. Ferguson and let me tell you, our school is HUGE!! We have really good teachers here and you are guaranteed an education that is actually worth your time. The only thing that kind of sucks is my Algebra 2 teacher. He's strict. But other than that, GO FALCONS!!!

I've been to many schools such as Sunset and Felix Varela, and they were the worst schools i'd ever been to. After transferring to Ferguson 2 years ago, I've finally found a place I can call home. The teachers are amazing (especially if you're taking Honors/AP classes) and the students are friendly and sociable. I'm now a Senior, and I'm really going to miss all this school has given me. I plan on visiting even after I graduate. No Goal is Too High Where Falcons Fly :)

This school has surpassed my expectations my daughter is a junior and is in the IB strand the principal is a fairly new principal doing a terrific job and the VP's all are key components to why that school is so well run my Daugthers IB lead teacher Mrs Graham is wonderful and her assistant Mrs Suca they are the best and with out all the bragging and financial backing that other IB schools have they are doing a wonderful job so I would love to see this school win and think of how it could be put to good use by such a terrific school that doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Love this school! Just finished my Freshman year here and it's great! All the teachers I had were great and I really love the whole academy factor The school is huge, so naturally it takes longer than 5 minutes to walk to class, but I havent met one teacher who hasn't given extra time, as long as you don't go overboard! Also, there are SO many clubs, and the uniform is very basic, but the uniform itself isn't bad, three different color shirts, polo or button-down, and two different color pants. Also, the security is really nice and as long as your not doing anything outright stupid, you'll be fine. All in all, I loved my first year, and I would suggest this school to everybody!

I am currently a junior at JAFSH.The school is just pretty bad. It is such a mission to walk through the halls, with so many students and not only that , but they give you 5 minutes to get to class. Thats not enough time, considering the amount of people. The school cares more about tardies and uniform than the actual education. Students actually prefer being absent to school than getting a late pass and serving detention or saturday school. Every year the school and administration get worse. The teachers on the other hand, most of them enjoy their job and can teach pretty well.

I graduated last year from ferguson, and let me tell you it is a great school, I loved it couldn't hope for a better school, kit has amazing extracurricular activities and teachers are really good too, the office might be little hard to work with sometimes but nothing too bad, pretty much the best high school around

Ferguson has a great IB program. Just tht im not quiet positive about the bullying.

I'm a current student at JAF and I most say it is terrible the administration is rude they have their priorities in the wrong place the students do nothing but bully and ridicule each other. Some of the teachers don't even seen like teaching is cut out for them. The staff in the attendance office needs an attitude check. And it's clear that they don't take safe measures when it comes to keeping others safe they keep students for the founding that runs out before they even get to the middle of the year.

My son is in 9th grade at JAF and he loves his school. When we have to communicate with a teacher or a counselor, they always are for you to help you. The bad experience that we always have is when we need to call or to go to the front desk office, the personnel are so rude. I think they have to pay more attention to this matter because this causes many negative impressions for the entire school. I hope our daugther loves JAF too.

My daughter and I love JAF and most of the teachers motivate their students. I am impressed with the way the monitor the progress of their students and counselors are their to help alone the way. The only bad experience we have has at the school is with the front office personnel. They definately should get a class on being well mannered.

This school has been great to my daughter. She had such a terrible experience at Archimedean Middle School. Now she actually loves going to school everyday... You can't be happier as a parent.

I Currently Attend Ferguson SHS && ive got to say there is no other school like it. The Security is above all the best thing they have because of the safety they want to maintain. Teachers teach, and even tutor students and push them towards a better future.

Ferguson is a new, fairly big school but everyone there is friendly, and goal oriented. My daughter is in the IB program and we are very impressed with the program. The school has a lot to offer academically & athletically. No goal is to high where falcons fly! This is the school's motto, Go Falcons!!

Excellent teachers- I have great communication via email with all the teachers and I as a parent review my son's grades and progress constanly on the website to be involve in his studies, assigments, grades and attendance. Im a working mother and I am not able to attend to school as often as I want to .. but being able to be part of the status of his classes and contact teachers so easily makes me feel really secure and happy.

im a junior at JAF and i've really enjoyed my time here. its a great school, with an improving athletics program. it lacks a little school spirit, but definitely does not lack dedicated teachers and for the most part dedicated students. last year we accomplished our goal of being an A school and we hope to keep our school among the best in the county. i strongly recommend this school (:

My daughter is starting the 10 grade. During her freshman year, she was having a problem in one of her Honor classes. I tried to speak to her counselor and teacher about it. I took me over a month or emails and leaving messages. I never heard from them. I had e-mail the principle and it still took about a week later to hear back. This school has too many kids, the uniform system is a joke. Not a very good school.

Ferguson is a mediocre school that has some serious issues related to discipline and some cases involving faculty/staff members and students which have resulted in the dismissal and sometimes prosecution of some of these individuals. But these problems are for the most part kept secret from the public. Students are for the most part unsupervised and go unpunished because the school cares more about not losing funding than about the quality of the school.

Check this out yo! I'm not gonna be superflous or verbose. This school rewards those who are willing to embrace the educational process. IF ur child dones't care abt his future life, don't send him to this school to screw up the rating.. One the other hand...if he/she has the intellectual capability and the fortitude to brave 4 yrs in this school, she will be worthy of the distinguished IB program led by one of the best IB co-ordinators in US history. This school has been getting corrupted by lesser beings the past few yrs which are suggested by the drop in the school grades...Plz know that the school chooses the ward and not vice versa

Ferguson is an amazing school where students are given the chance to get education on future career choices and take challenging classes that really prepare students for the 'real world'. I really recommend Ferguson to any student, because it is a school where you can be who you are and your never ridiculed about it.

Ferguson Senior High is a great starting school and it has proved it for its four main years. Students are to wear uniform all week and are rewarded with a jean day on Fridays if no problems were present during the week. So really, it depends on the students. Ferguson has proved to be more than a school, a family. Teachers, students, and administration are all like a big cuddle. Its lovely to go in there and be in such a welcoming community. My son, being an honor student is given tasks that challenge him and he has told me that a regular class is like cake for him. Its an awesome school that I personally recommend to all of you =]

This school is not even a place to learn. I had to get my son out of there because it was a waste of time. The teachers do not care about the students, the uniforms are used however the students want. And it really doesnt seem like the school cares, very poor magnet program! -dr.Maria patricia reyes

The academic programs at Ferguson are excellent. The career academies and IB axademies are great ways of getting students to think ahead into college and their careers. There is a wide variety of afterschool programs- from the steel drum band to the Bible Club. Parents are very involved and help teams fund raise.

Academically, every thing is going well so far now. I would just say that the homework is not challenging. My doughter is only required to do the easier section of the excercises in the textbook, rarely the problems (speaking only about math) and never the 'critical thinking' section. What I would really like to see is a much stronger sports program. Actually they only last for 3 months and after that you have to wait till next year.

Ferguson is a great new high school. The administration and teachers are eager to help students succeed as well as to help parents become an integral part of their success. We highly recommend this school and the IB program. The PTA and EESAC embrace the participation of all parents and work harmoniously to benefit the entire school community. Keep up the great work!
