This school year was amazing for my son and I. This is the first time that my son attends a charter school. It was the best decision that i made. He love the school and the teachers. The teachers are really good and always are there to help the students and the parents.

My son attended 3rd. at MCMCS last year; it was wonderful coming from a K-8 school. Teachers were very professional and innovative on how they teach. They care so much about the kids, treat them like their own. It is a very safe school. I recommeded that school to a couple friends and family. There is always room for improvement in any work of life.

I strongly disagree with the last three reviews. I am a teacher at the Miami Children's Museum Charter School and I feel that our principal provides us with amazing leadership and support. She always tells us that her job is to facilitate our job and to provide us with everything and anything we need to be successful in our classrooms. She conducts frequent walk throughs and monitors important aspects of our schedules such as RTI/ Intervention time, centers and differentiated instruction in Math. Our school increased over 120 points this year and we are an A school! Schools do not achieve this type of success with poor and absent leadership. The office staff always tries to be as helpful as possible in answering parent questions or concerns. They also put out a monthly calendar to keep parents informed of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. I feel that our school is like a family where we truly care for one another. I am proud to be part of this team!

We have been apart of MCMCS for 6 years, it has been wonderful experience all around. The education and sense of community are great! The entire staff is supportive to all our needs. We are VERY happy and would recommend this school to anyone!

A few years ago the MCMCS was a great school. It lives inside the Museum, it is small and the energy was very inviting and family oriented. Unfortunately, during the past few years this has changed. At first the changes didn't affect the children but this past year was a disaster, and this was primarily due to extremely poor leadership. The principal was non-existent during most of the year. The office staff was a disaster, they did not know how to communicate with the parents. Every school has monthly parent information meetings, this year there were 3 meeting and they were run by a secretary of the school who is also a parent who was hired by the principal, but no one can understand what her role at the school is...and the meetings lacked any useful info...why was the principal never present at these meetings? The school year began bad, the text books arrived late, then as the year went by parents were pushed away, parents who wanted to volunteer were turned away (volunteering is required) French class disappeared, Classes very OVERCROWDED, unhappy teachers, It just seems they care more about $$ and less about the kids ...It is so sad. I hope things change for the better.

Parents and teachers make this school the good school it is. Lack of leadership is evident. Principal rarely seen. Teachers overwhelmed by crowded classes. Recess, time in the museum get cancelled often. Also Spanish which is now the only alternative language being taught. Nobody knows why French was canceled. We started the year being told that the school was working towards IB certification. . Still don't know what happened with that, where we are at. Only 3 parent meetings this year. Poorly run and with useless information. A PTA would certainly make all the difference.

This school could be amazing but due to the poor leadership, it fails to deliver the academics and organization it needs to thrive. Text books did not arrive until the 3rd or 4th week of the 2013-2014 school year and the principal chose not to order all of the needed books so the work came from overhead projectors and papers copied from books. I have never seen social studies or science homework nor have I seen 1 graded paper in these subjects. I know he takes these classes because I see the grades. The saving graces are all of the teachers my child has had are amazing. They care about the students, the communication has been fantastic and they are good teachers if they were just provided with the resources and leadway to teach. Their frustration with the school leadership is evident by several of the really great teachers leaving in frustration. The parents and students are wonderful. It's like a family because the school is small and the parent involvment is high. Most of us know each other, on some level. There is refreshing diversity of culture with a great global diversity. I find the education is on par with like schools but it could be much better.

There is a sense of family that is undeniable. You feel your children are in a safe and happy environment. Teachers and staff care for each student individually. They help him/her succeed academically as well as emotionally. The students well being is their number one priority. If you want to pick up a happy child at dismissal send him/her to this school. Good luck :))

The good things are that everyone knows everyone, teachers and staff are easily accessible, it is a very safe school, no bullying, and the presence of a museum. Drawbacks: no coherent vision for teaching math and science 3rd grade onwards, teaching is very haphazard, no interest in particpating in miami dade school science fair. Kids sometimes get their recess taken off, which means no physical activity for those events. Classes can be freezing with teachers unresponsive if a child feels cold, and not being allowed to wear sweaters that are not emblazoned wth school logo. Cold lunch.

This is an amazing school, the teachers and administration are great. My child loves his school and teachers. There is no problem of overcrowding, my child gets the attention he deserves and needs. This school has the feeling of a small school that is very close.

Three years ago the school may have been good, but right now its over crowded and very disorganized. They do not have a proper lunch hall and the playground is small. Additionally, they may be located in a museum but the kids at the charter school get limited access to explore the museum. Overall, its not a school I would recommend. Note, your local public school at least has to adhere to state guidelines on student teacher ratios, charters schools do not.

Excellent teachers, but the classrooms are too crowded! If your child needs extra attention do not put him in this charter school because he will not get the attention he deserves. Overall it is a good school, but each year it gets worse because they accept more students than they have room for. I've noticed that some of the staff often gossip about other faculty members which is very unprofessional.

School remains overcrowded, and because its a charter school it does not adhere to the kinder through 3rd grade, 18 children standards that public schools in miami dade county are supposed to. They do not have a cafeteria, the playground is small, and the children at the school have limited access to the museum. Its a shame because the school could have the potential to improve but they are growing beyond their capacity and that of their administration's capacity.

It is such a warm,nurturing environment. The children are all so happy and they love to go to school everyday. The teachers embrace each child as their own and make learning fun. I think it is a jewel in the public school system here in Miami.

My son has been going here for the past two years and it is a fabulous school; since it is housed in the museum there are many opportunities to incorporate hands-on activities into daily lessons. The principal and teachers truly care about each child and challenge them each day.

My son is in Ms Adriana Perez's class. She is a great teacher, very creative and willing to listen to parents and work with students. I am very happy that my son is in her class. The school is good, but has some issues which it needs to resolve if it really wants to emerge as a fanstastic school of Miami. It has too many students in one class. My son's desk has 5 students. They should not admit so many students, or should add more sections.

My son is in Ms. Nadia class and we could not be happier! She is an excellent teacher and cares so much for her students. The entire staff at the school is professional. They strive for every childs well being. We are very happy and will work hard for the school to expand as it should by contract to the 5th grade!

I wish the school followed the Reggio Emilia methods like their pre=school. Unfortunately it follows the public school system which does not honor creativity the way I hoped it would. In comparison to all other options in the area this is a great school, but I feel we might have to leave state in order find a true educational adventure.
