I use to go to this school and I must say that they have great teachers and very respectable students and staff .The teachers make sure there students pass the F-Cat and have managed to keep a B-average.If your looking for good schools' in Miami then please choose Norland Elementary School.
This is my daughter's second year at this school. She is in second grade. The only good thing I can say about this school is that I loved her first grade teacher and I like her second grade teacher. Other than that, this school is absolutely HORRIFIC. The parents are the problem. This school is FULL of kids whose parents don't care about raising model students. This school is over-run with disrespectful and rude kids. Attend just one school function and the parents will show you where they all get it from. Pick-up and drop-off is a joke with all of the rude, inconsiderate and erratic drivers. I overheard a parent complaining about the school's new safety policy and aside of sounding completely ignorant she was yelling at school staff in front of students, including my daughter. The phrase "no home training" comes to mind, except for the fact that the kids who attend this school learn to be the way they are by their own parents. This school is a JOKE. That's the nicest word I can use.
My son had been attending Norland Elementary for 3 years now, and I must say that this school is excellent. The teachers actually take time to make sure all students are learning. I have no complaints whatsoever.
I have to say that I'm really proud of Norland Elem., At first, I didn't want to send my child there because of all the rumors I heard. My daughter attended K-5 grade and the teachers were excellent. I have to give it to the 3 grade teachers, all the hard work and extra effort they provided to make the kids pass the F-CAT
We are new to the school this year and must say that when the children are dismissed there is no control as to where they are suppose to go. They come out from the school main entrance which is very narrow and parents and or children are all in the way. I don't see my son's teacher so that she may say to him 'is that your mom who is picking you up' they just come out without any supervision at all. I am very concerned because anyone can come and pick up any child without anyone seeing what is happening. I say this is very upsetting to me.
I'm a second grade student and I am glad that this school has gone from a B average to an A average school. Thanks to our wonderful principal, teachers and our great students of Norland Elementary School.
Norland Elementary is a excellent school which rated a B average in 2004-2005 school year. Both of my kids loves the school. The school offers a gifted program and provides extra curriculum to meet the child's needs. Weekend classes are also offered. The teachers are wonderful and very friendly. The principle shows great interest in her kids and strives to become a grade A average school.
If you're looking for a great Pre-K ESE 1/2 day Reverse Mainstream this is the school in Miami. My son went to the program last year. Linda Alvarez is by far the most carring and motivated teacher. She calls parents and e-mails them all the time to inform them of what the children are doing and how well they perform. This school cares so much for their students that they have a contract that the parents must sign at tthe begining of the year that states you make sure your child does his home work, gets addicuate sleep, has 3 meals a day, read to them daily, and tell them that you love them every day. The ESE class is so good that this year I allowed my typical daughter to be the rolemodel for the Reverse Mainstream class.
Norland Elementary School is a great school. The principal is wonderful and very approachable, she is caring and committed. The school is blessed with great PTA leadership and they firmly believe that parental involvement is the key to the success of each student and the school. All parents are encouraged to be a member of the PTA. We strive always for a family-like environment conducive for our children.
