The teachers and staff are friendly and helpful overall, but there are distinct problems in regards to the quality and monitoring of the teaching staff. My child's 1st grade teacher is not a native speaker of English (I know this is Miami, OK be realistic) but when I see 4 spelling and grammatical errors on my child's REPORT CARD...I am horrified. This person is teaching my child grammar and doesn t understand it herself! WOW! These are mistakes that exhibit a fundamental lack of understanding of grammar that no elementary teacher should make (and this person makes them all the time). The report card is now an official part of my child s record, and no one else in the school noticed it! Their budget is tight, so the children basically stay in their homeroom all day, every day. No art, no music, etc. All work is in the form of standardized worksheets. The focus of the curriculum is upon getting a good grade on the Florida state tests, so the kids learn very little, except how to excel on these tests. Beware! A GS rating of 7 in S. Florida may be comparable to a 2 or 3 in other parts of the country. We moved to this district because of it, and now will move to get away from it.
the teachers are so helpful and really care about each student, the resourses the school has is amazing and everyone is very helpful

My son graduated Ojus Elementary in 2008 after attending it for 3 years. This is excellent school with great teachers. His teacher in 5th grade was Ms. Morosco. She is wonderfull teacher and person and all the kids love her. Ojus put my son on the gifted programm at the beginning of the 4th grade and it gave him a great start for outstanding Charter school that he is going to and later in life. Thank you to Ojus Elementary and its great teachers for my son's bright future!
I am a graduated student at ojus elementary school and I have succeed and have reached the stars I would highly recommend this school this is a very uptight school and all I can say is it is awesome I would highly recommends the teacher ms.macartney and ms.morrosco for fifth grade and Ojus has brought me all the way up to reach the stars!
My child has been attending Ojus for the past three years and each year his experince has been positive. The principal has created a cultlure for the school that focuses on learning and family values.
great school, needs more parent participation!
academic program is very good they do not have enough extracurricular activities they do not have enough activities that include parents
I'd say the quality of academic programs is high and this helps the child to learn to be responsible and to be always ready to work hard. This is a preparation for the children for the future when they will be in High School and College; it's really important that they learn at young age how to deal with homework, science projects and how to get ready for tests such as FCAT.
