Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I enrolled into Winston Park 8 years ago and graduated last year and I miss it more than words can explain. I had a couple bad experiences with both students and teachers but in my opinion, that can happen anywhere, and it was nothing too horrible. My elementary math teachers were decent, and as a result I can't add as fast as I can multiply. Fortunately enough, my middle school teachers were almost all great. However, I had advanced/gifted classes. My friends who had regular or intensive classes always complained that their teachers were bad and never taught anything and never gave homework. I was always given a reasonable amount of homework and did fairly well at the school. If you or your child has regular or intensive classes, you might like to consider another school. Many of my friends complained that their teachers made simple lessons or concepts that I was learning a lot harder for them, and I've seen it myself. As far as the advanced/gifted teachers, my middle school math teachers were really really great and I cannot stress it enough. The environment of the school is okay, sometimes things happen but overall this school is a good school if you make the best of it.

The math teacher i had is very horrid. She taught us material that will last one day then the next day we get a test. I don't know if its only me but i think you need to teach the material more so we get familiar. The 8th graders made me feel really uncomfterable and asked really awkward things.

Winston Park K-8 is an excellent school. My daughter has recently started 6th grade there. The teachers, staff, and administration have been incredible at making my daughter feel comfortable in middle school. The transition was an easy one for all of us. The Principal is visible and easy to approach. Both of the AP's are out and about and involved with the students and parents. The PTSA is active and have planned many fun activities. My daughter actually looks forward to going to school!

My kids go to this school. I've been satisfied for several years until the new Principal Mrs. Blanco arrived. She is unaproachable and rude. She is media hungry and feels she is above parents and teachers.

This is an excellent school. My son came to this school for the 3rd grade. At that time, he suffered from a speech impediment, although attending expensive tutoring services each afternoon. My son is now in the 8th grade. He attends advance placement & honor classes, and is a member of the National Jr. .Honor Society. We owe his success to the dedication of the teachers and staff at Winston Park K-8.

Winston Park has been my home away from home for over 15 years. All four of my children have attended and I think it is the best school with the most dedicated teachers. I wish the class sizes were smaller, but I realize that it is not the principal's fault. It is up to us as parents to let our legislators know that we are not happy with their lack of concern for education.

As a proud WP Wildcat teacher of our sixth-eighth graders, I can say that our teachers are outstanding. Truly, students here are cared for and taught extraordinarily well. They foster friendships and nurture them, a lot of them since Pre-K. While this is a public school, there is a parochial feel to it in the sense that 'everyone knows your name.' From the kind, helpful, in-the-know ladies who work in the main office to the knowledgable administration to the caring, hard working teachers...Winston Park is truly a special place.

This is my daughters first year and coming from a school that had only 16 students in the class, Im not thrilled with Winston Park. There are 36 kids in the second grade and has 2 teachers. However you cannot control that many 7 yr olds in one room. The math is the same math she learned last year, and the language arts is really easy. She was doing harder stuff in first grade. The security of the school is great and the new principal and vice principal seem really nice and committed to doing a good job. I just wish the classes were smaller and the academics more rigorous.

My daughter is in the first grade and in her 2nd year and WP. Both she and I are very happy with her progress and the schools emphasis on learning and achievement. I dont see as many activities 9i.e. ice cream socials, movies in the field...) as i did when Ms. Virgin was principal, but hopefully Mr. Diaz will soon catch on to the wildcat spirit and realize a lil social activity for the kids helps there overall learing experience and enthusiam towards school.

Winston Park is truly a community school where parents, students and teachers come together to make the school better and enhance the education of the children. This can be witnessed from the way events are held, the way the parents get along with each other and the responsiveness of the teachers, their willingness to help and inventive ways they find to teach our children. We now have a new principal and he has done a great job so far. The previous principal knew each child, their grades and how they behaved. Kudos to WP and Faculty!

I remember taking my cousins to Winston Park over twenty years ago. It was still only portables. It didn't matter because Winston Park always made a beautiful lasting impact on my cousins. Many years later, when I brought my son to the school, the same staff was there. It was like coming to a family reunion and meeting up with a beloved cousin. That is just how Winston Park K-8 Center is, a loving family, ready to open their arms and embrace you. I am so proud to be a part of Winston Park, and have my three children there. Many students have finished here, gone on to high school, college, and married, and moved back to the neighborhood. Now their children are attending our school. Both of my children attend WP K-8 and I can tell you from first hand experience it is a remarkable school. This year the classes did have team teaching which was a change. I honestly felt that although there are more students to a class, the students now have 2 teachers there to attend to them. I really liked this especially when one teacher was out ill, the children always had the other teacher there to carry on. The school is truly one of the best and the principal and AP's really are wonderful.

Academic programs are excellent, the schools' emphasis on AR reading has helped my child reach for a very high reading level and when I hear other parents at different schools not have AR I am surprised how far behind are they in reading. My 4-year old also attends the VPK program at the same school and it is excellent, she can count and is able to sound out the alphabets as well as rot it..she is aware of her colors, shapes and much more. This schools should have some more extracurricular activities otherwise this is an excellent school.

My daughter is in 3rd grade. She has been in Winston Park since kindergarten. My daughter has been in a team class since 1st grade. I think this type of teaching and program is the great. We have been blessed, not all elementary schools have this program. In this type of program, my daughter has been able to learn alot and express herself in presentations and writing. I do not think she could have learned so much in a regular classroom setup. I would like to thank all her teachers, since Kindergarten, they have all been great. My only regrets is that this is the last year the team program is offered. I guess its because of the school board funding. All schools need advance programs which are not the gifted programs. Not all children meet the gifted program criteria even when they have high academic grades. Thanks Winston Park

My child has just started attending Winston Park and we are all extremely pleased with the transition. The principal was especially considerate, professional, and welcoming. She took the time to confer with us and our child, and furthermore, personally toured the school with us. The children, as well as the teachers and staff, are all polite and there is an overall air of professionalism, pride, and caring throughout the school. This is a reflection of the carefully implemented logistics apparent in such procedures as morning drop off down to the weekly homework folder (stimulating for the child as well as for the parents while encouraging consistent parent-teacher communication). I would whole-heartedly recommend this school to any parent.
