This is a great school with absoutely wonderful teachers. My son is a straight A student who has never received anything but 5's on his FCAT, my point being this is by no means his home school and quite a drive...but worth it. The Magnet program can be very demanding at times, so be warned. As for fights and drugs I have not seen any, but by no means is my child lingering around the school before or after hours. That is asking for problems in ANY school.
What I think: I think this school is the ... BEST school EVER and forever will be that title. This School is NOT a drug school. The chances of a drug kid is : 1 out of 800. There is NO way this school could improve it is too Perfect. I think is was Bio (High school class) got 95% Passed. (My mom works here so I know) When it comes to sports ... We arent the at the Top in : Softball. But when it comes to Track& Field we are STARS and we will RULE any school. I've never EVER seen such a school with a better Team. I think one of the reasons why we score so High in FCAT is because we dont have lots of kids. But that means Our teachers can focus more on every Child. The uniforms have the most colors out of any school. Lately I have found LOTS of adults that Went to H.D Mcmillan. And now they are flying above everyone with jobs that changes out world today. This is not a Fake Writing Unlike some. This is coming from a student who goes to this school. I will NEVER regret going to this school. This is finally going to be the BEST year Ever. Go panthers.
Love most of my child's teachers but possibly the most unprofessional adminstration i have ever encountered.
Absolutely wonderful teachers working under a TERRIBLE administrative team. Decided to place my son in a charter school because of this.
was better. too many kids into drugs this time around and fights. Need better rules.
I am very happy to have chosen this school for my daughter. Excellent teacher. Excellent principal and assistant principal. This is an outstanding school as far as academic and discipline. It is a shame that Spanish was removed from electives choices. Other than that I have the best opinion. I'm soooooo! glad that I chose this school for my daughter. Escellent enviroment!!!!
im a student class of 2010-11 this school is fun the teachers are very nice ,and funny and some are mean like all schools have the rules are a little too much and the school doesn't have windows so when when the a/c doesn't work you cant breath unless the teacher brought a fan. the kids are mostly funny if you go with the good children the bad ones are always in trouble and if your new to the school you will get lost but just ask the teachers im in 8th grade and i came in 2010 i got lost for a month or two and all the walls looked the same but you will get use to it
I love Howard D. McMillan Middle School because of its great teachers, its learning environment and its wonderful administration.
MY WIFE AND I ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE PRINCIPAL AND HER ASSISTANT. THEY BOTH HAVE A SENSE OF BELONGING TO THE SCHOOL...EXCELLENT DISCIPLINE, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND COMMUNICATION..PARENTS WE KNOW WHAT EVERY MOTHER AND FATHER GOES THROUGH WHEN THEIR CHILD FINISHED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND IS TIME TO MOVE UP...SCHOOL LIKE THIS ONE ARE VERY FEW.THE SCHOOL STAFF IS COMMINTTED TO EXCELLENCE. THE ONLY THING MISSING IS A BASEBALL PROGRAM..... GO GET THEM PANTHERS...
Dr. Whyte runs a tight ship here. I am glad he' strict about the uniform policy. Other schools should follow suit. The school is clean and security seems to be on the ball. I have never seen a first day of school go as smoothly as it did at this school. Way to go, Dr. Whyte and staff!
Both my sons started to attend McMillan Middle in the 7th grade. Coming from a small elementary school environment, I was cautious in choosing an appropriate school for my children to go to. When I started to inquire about the different middle schools available to us, I was surprised with the negative feedback and reputation that this school had. Despite this, I chose to find out firsthand about the school, so I met with the Vice Principal and took a tour of the school. It was then, that I found that I had been misled; Mr. White and his staff had actually been doing a great job. This school had everything that I wanted in a school and much more. The school is impeccable and the teachers and supporting staff are caring, helpful, educative and informative to the parents, yet strict about the kids' appearance and mannerisms. I would give this school an A++ and would recommend it with no reservation.
My stepson is autistic and goes to this school. I have only heard good things about it so far. It seems to have activities for ESE students; additionaly, he likes his teachers and going to school in general.
My daughter is in this school and I believe that it is a quite excellent school. But I think it needs a little bit of more extracurricular activities like for example more dress down days and more field trips. It also needs do have less strict rules because when my daughter dosen't have a school colored sweater she can't wear one because she'll probably get a detention.I thank all the teachers for all their assistance and all, also the staff.
The teachers try to help , but the students that attend this school are kids that do not have any parentail guideness at all. The school needs to have sports or more afterschool activities so their minds are occupied and also give thems a goal to do better in class because if they have bad grades they won't be on the team. Also they need parents to be more involved in the school we need to show our kids we care and we want to be apart of there school activities. This school needs all of this and needs to more strict with the kids...
The school is good. You will always have someone who will answer the phone when you call and they are very pleasant. The only problem I have is that some teachers are very hard to reach. You have to call several times before getting a response.
My daughter attended this school for 1 yr, where there she was a C-D student. This is a terrible school, gangs, drugs, smoking in the bathrooms and this is just middle school. I took my daughter out and placed her in another school, she is now a B student, received a scholarship in history and is going to highschool. As for her close friends that stayed behind, 1 failed her grade, the other is in a gang.
I went to this school. When I attended I can honestly say, most of the teachers are excellent. There are some that are just rude. I think some of the rules are dumb and dont make any sence. I think they need to worry about what needs to be done, to help kids be more involved with the school. I have gone back to the school, and I see that things have not changed with the staff in the office. They are extremely rude all the time.
